Could you please tell me the source of your Graphs on HTM and Available for sale securities @ around 9:00, if I am not wrong they are generally commingled with other Current assets or long-term assets in the balance sheet, how were you able to segregate them ?
This is a good question, I actually took this data straight from the financial statements. Banks must inform investors how they classify their investment activities, so if you search for HTM in the financial statements, you’ll find the breakdown. If you would like, I can double check the page on their annual report I was able to get the data
How about credit Suisse though, that's way more alarming for the system as a whole, sure the national bank is propping them up but for how long will that hold, and what effect will this have on the world market and banking system if they fail.
Would love to see you dive deeper on Citizen's Bank, bigger banks are interesting but a comparison with a regional bank would be even more interesting.
