Thanks for thinking of us, taking us along on the excursions. It's great to see someone who goes out and creates his own job - most of the rest of us are all bound up in highly complex networks of jobs and money and politics, you name it. And if this system starts to get shaky, there's not a a lot you can do about it.
Thanks for taking the time and effort to make these videos and share your knowledge with us. My job keeps me in the larger cities, but anytime I want a great adventure in the bush and run a trap line with the best there is, I click on your videos... Thanks
another winner!!! people should watch this if they think you are livin in luxury with no work to do....there is a lot of work and ingenuity involved in this work and you demonstrate it very well!!...can't wait for the next vid!!! peace joe in new york
tomorrow I am going out on my line and hope to set out 42 power rams. Your videos keep me pumped up to get out on the line. That little bravo is one tough machine.
Hello from north of the 51st parallel in Manitoba. Watching your videos since last season and never a dull moment. The wolves and coyotes have really hurt our white tail deer population the last couple years. A wolf pelt is worth over $235 this year, coyote almost $56. A big jump in prices this year. Learning a lot from your videos and appreciate you taking the time to explain your sets and strategy. Keep up the great work and best of the Season to you and your family.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. My Grand father was a trapper in New Brunswick for years. I never got to meet him but my Uncle took me trapping a few times. Its hard to learn everything in just a few days. I wish I could live like you, but have kids now lol.
Can't wait to see the results of the sets. Once again you r keeping me and all my facebook friends entertained. I still believe all your viewers and myself gotta come together and get you a national television program.
Awesome videos Andrew! I am a Labrador aboriginal and have been trapping all my life here on the east coast. I am currently getting prepared for this upcoming trapping season which opens the 3rd week of October... after viewing a lot of your videos I am anxious to get back in the woods! We have a lot of lynx here on the rock and I intend on using the double pen. I may try and do some videos myself this year. Thanks for all your great ideas bud, happy trapping!
Nice to see your update! This far I have caught 2 european marten after 6 days with 6 traps out. A nice start. I have 6 more traps to set. - giving me a total of 14. Can't wait to see your next update. I hope you snare some lynx in that counterweight. Traps with a portion of creativity are interesting. I myself have a log as a deadfall with a toggle-release set in a three. Maybe I'll make a video if I get something in it. I also have a rifle in.17 HMR. I have to agree, it's a great caliber :)
"The Line" is up and running! Glad to see it, and looking forward to the upcoming seasons successes. Hope to see a Lynx a-swingin'. HAWBAKERS! They operate out of my "back-yard." I will forward your videos to them!!!
I used to use a 330 conibear for starlings in the back yard. I would make a ball of bread and stick it on the trip wires. I also used to use one when going out for bunnies in pipes and holes. I would just shove a sick through and the rabbit would run out the other side popping the trap. heheh. That`s about the extent of my trapping experiences. hehehe Hey Thanks for sharing your dream life . thimbs up.
Great update. Glad the season is off to a good start adn I can not wait for the next update to see if you got anything. Take care buddy and thanks for posting.
I particularly enjoyed this video. I just moved to Minnesota from Alaska and to make a long story short, I can't trap this year because I didn't take a trapping class and they don't offer any more this year. Makes me feel like I'm setting up my old line up in Alaska.
That's the life!!! I haven't trapped for years but I still can remember my first marten, fisher, bobcat and coyotes...We have no wolverine down here in Maine and we can't kill lynx but that sure looks fun! Might be time for me to get the traps back out!
I have watched all your videos more than once, cousin and I think there great lol ,it's nice to see new country and the wildlife you have there, I have all ways wondered who influenced you ? You must have had a teacher, grandfather ? Elder? Your not only sharing your skills as a hunter/trapper, your also documenting your life and native/ metis culture . Thanks Myles
Just like to say you made this trapper from the eastcoast think about how much enjoyment i got from running a line, gonna do some this fall,CHEERS from NANTON,Alberta, your video's are my fav, give charlie dog a pat for me,love black labs
Hi, I enjoyed that vid dude. I'm from Wales in the Uk. This is the first vid of yours I have watched, I'm really looking forward to looking through the rest of your stuff..
Those Belisle traps are good. Nice safeties on them that don't fall to the side as you set them. They are pronounced bell-ill. I like the innovative sets. More interesting than a box cubby and easier to tote. Do you file teeth on your cam locks? Do you load your snares? they are really round and that's either due to the wire (1/19?) or the loading of the snare. Keep the videos coming. be safe. thanks.
Can't wait to see the video with all those traps full! It was really interesting seeing your various tricks of the trade. Best channel on yt imho. Good luck this season, be safe, and post lots of videos! -Kevin
Andrew, This will be my first year of trapping. You are partly to blame. Keep the vid's coming. I am trying to read,or watch video's, or prepare some part of my gear every day. Season starts in two days. Thanks again. Dave Kimball
I really liked the video. Just wondering, how do you anchor your leg hold traps. Do you use cable or wire? And do you tie them off to small trees? Thanks, keep up the good work.
your living the life many of us long for.... your vids are as close to this as most of us will ever get, so we thank you for your efforts. What do you shoot your videos with? We'd love to see more of the processing as you can, once again thanks man and stay safe.
awesome vid, nice to see the different sets. quick question, i heard that the 17hmr leaves a big exit hole in critters, which makes it a bad choice for dispatching trapped animals, have you had this problem?
Andrew, trying setting you pan so it's level with the trap jaws, then use a sheet of white paper towl as a pan cover. I don't know anything about wolverine and not much of lynx but this method works excellent for coyote, fox and i'm sure wolf too.
Another great, informative video. Good shit, man. I hope you get something on those swinging pole sets. Is this your only job? Also, how often do you check your sets?
Great vid as usual ... I am looking for a trapline, but for now watching your vids is just amazing. Keep posting them. Did you quit smoking ? I have not seen a single cigarette in this vid, just an ashtray on the table at the end. Just asking.
I really enjoyed this video! Good job man! I do have a question though, I trap here in michigan and I know our winters can't be as harsh as yours but how do you keep your traps from freezing down? I love trappin in the winter but I always have a problem with traps freezing down. Thanks for the set ideas buddy
Great channel man. Couple questions though. I know you made a video where you made a snare, but could you make another one and actually show the pieces and tell us, well me, what you recommend for line thickness? And how much do you get up there for fur? I started looking into it where I'm at and it seems pretty decent. I'm going to start trapping because of your videos, good job.
Another great video!!!!! My question for you is what do you do for water? do you have a well or do you get your water from the river? Keep the videos coming I envy your life...
@wiggler889 yeah wiggler i have Trapping Tales 02 finished and edited with a few catches and some more sets but youtube is fucking me around it wont upload this video i am trying to change the file format right now maybe it will be up in a few hours it failed like 7 times trying to upload...stay tuned
@edfrhes i hear theres gold in the cameron river thats not too far from my cabin its up in the cameron hills i have a gold pan but i never used it before
@neuroleptika every year is diffrent it just depends on how many traps i get out and how hard i feel like working ha ha. yes there is a lot of wildlife in my area that is for sure.
I just discovered your videos; Really interesting and informative....I know your dog's name and your cousin's name... but what's yours? I tried to find your trapping location on Google Earth... can you give me some directions... are you back down the Hay River highway toward Enterprise? What prices do the different pelts bring at auction?
These older videos are GOLD!!! Never get tired of 'em!!!

That set made with hanging log, is that to keep your catch high off the ground to stop predators from eating your catch? awsome video.

Good stuff ,hope you do well with the traps. Keep the videos coming.
@kevindoppenberg that depends on a lot of things hard to say man.the more traps you set and the harder you work the more fur you will produce.
Andrew, trying setting you pan so it's level with the trap jaws, then use a sheet of white paper towl as a pan cover. I don't know anything about wolverine and not much of lynx but this method works excellent for coyote, fox and i'm sure wolf too.

I thought I was a Canadian, well sir, you put me too shame, well done evolving!
Hi Andrew. That piece of metal is half of a pipe clamp designed for unistrut mounting of pipes and conduit.
I was wondering if it is hard to keep the smell of the snowmachine exhaust from ruining your sets. I know when i get done riding I smell bad.
Great channel man. Couple questions though. I know you made a video where you made a snare, but could you make another one and actually show the pieces and tell us, well me, what you recommend for line thickness? We must visit traps every 96 hours here (NV). Is there a regulation like that up there? If so what is your times?
