    You forgot the: "I'd love to buy this but it's too far away, can you deliver it 2 hours away for $60 total? I'm a single mom and if you don't do this for me YOU ruined my son's birthday."

      Oh man. My wife has a huge heart and almost fell for this. It was something for a baby. Maybe a crib we sold or something. She wanted it delivered and set up. I said, "Sure, what the hell? Get it out of our house." Setup was just a few bolts. My wife messaged her back with no response. In the meantime, an expecting couple messaged and said they would drive up asap and pick it up. My wife wanted to hold the crib for the original lady who never responded! I said no way first come, first serve. My wife agreed reluctantly, and it was gone in 20 minutes. Never heard from the other lady 🤷‍♂️

      Something similar happened to me. I held it for a buyer for a couple weeks. They never came or contacted me so I sold it to someone else. The person then calls me on Thanksgiving when we are eating and asks if she could come get the item. I explained that she never got back to me and that I got tired of waiting so I sold it to someone else. She proceeded to flip out on me and cuss me out because she said that she wanted it. I ended up just hanging up on her.

      I'm a landlady, and I listed a duplex unit for rent. There was this guy who came to see the unit on behalf of his elderly father. He visited, looked around, and said he might be interested. A couple weeks later, he called me again to arrange for another showing, and this time he'll bring his father. We set up a time on a Saturday afternoon. I stay home all Saturday afternoon to show the unit, and this guy pulls a no show. And then a week or so later, he texts me asking if the duplex is still available. I never replied, and that was the end of it.

      I let someone else sell something for me on facebook marketplace. First and last ever the buyer demanded a 2 day warranty for the item in question. Where if they weren't satisfied with the item for whatever reason they get refunded the $200. While they get to keep the item in question. The person who sold them my item agreed to those ridiculous terms. Exactly 2 days later I get a call for the person who sold the item for me. Informing me I have to return the money and the buyer will be here in 2 hours time for it.
      I told him this isn't a retail store there is no refund. I asked if they had any issues with said item functioning. To which he replied "no they didn't", they just decided to change their minds. That was when he informed me of the ridiculous warranty deal he agreed to on 'my behalf' to the buyer. They refused to return the item and ended up threatening me at gunpoint. So I ended up having to give the money back. I called the cops and they only were able to recover a corner of said item. The people who bought it destroyed the item. So now I was out the item I was selling and wasted weeks worth of my time. Nearly got killed, and out $200.
      I had a camera in my driveway that recorded everything. Despite that the cops refused to do anything more. Despite I ended up receiving death threats over trying to recover the $200 for several weeks at least.
      There is a good reason I never have, and never will use facebook or other such toxic social media websites. I only use UA-cam for videos.

      I sold one thing on eBay, and the experience was so awful I never did it again. I sold a drawing tablet for the computer. I specifically stated it was a USB plug in tablet. The buyer demanded a return and refund, because I didn't "explicitly say it wasn't Bluetooth, and electronics that aren't are useless". So, not only did I lose my cut that eBay took, I ended up paying about $24 for shipping both ways. At this point it's less of a hassle to just donate your stuff to a charity shop.

    • @DevotedDisciple-x
      @DevotedDisciple-x 10 місяців тому

      @@calebchristensenviolin I sold a PlayStation 3 with one controller, cords and two games for $89.99. Between shipping and eBay, it dropped to $53.67. The IRS of course takes their cut too, which is more than eBay's cut these days, thanks to Bidenomics. This brought it down to $36.01.
      So I started at $89.99 and after eBay fees, shipping and the new forced federal tax, I received $36.01 and lost $53.98.
      You can choose not to pay the tax on it but they absolutely will catch up to you even if it's only over a small amount.

      @@Jaxxie1981 That's awful, but I can absolutely relate unfortunately. This was about five years back and thankfully nothing this horrible has happened since, but I once sold five Schleich German horses for about $200. They are vintage, collectibles, fragile, model horses. These were clearly marked as such and you were in the collectibles section of eBay. A woman purchased them and a few weeks go by when suddenly she messages me, irate and demanding a refund because "nowhere did you say that these are not toys and not fit for children!" Her toddler aged daughter had completely destroyed them. What's worse? eBay sided with her and pulled the money from my account, because I denied the refund, and gave her the money back. Luckily the more you do sales the easier it gets.
    Instead of saying no to the fan, say yes I'll sell the fan for $80 and throw in the rest of the parts for free.
    When they want to say it work say sure, as long as you put the money on the table and buy it when you see it works. (Otherwise they'll probably lowball you after you demonstrate it).
    Also it helps A LITTLE to say 'if its still listed its still available' and 'cash only, no trades'. But people still won't read haha.

    • @NoOne-fe3gc
      @NoOne-fe3gc 9 місяців тому +4

      Yup. Every item that I list for free I simply put the address in the post, put it out on the porch and that's it. Check on it every once in a while to see if it is gone and never look at any messages. It is easier than drive to the Goodwill.
      Also, my favorite whenever someone asks me if I deliver is: "Sure, my company charges me 300/h to our clients, so your house is 20 min away, considering back and forth, that's 200 bucks for delivery."

I found a guy on marketplace who had tons and tons of tires- said he had all sizes/types/brands/quality lots of whole sets. I asked him for pics and he sent me some..looked like nice tires. So, I go look at them. This place is in the middle of nowhere, a couple trailers that look like they might be meth labs and a whole bunch of complete junk tires that are 3/32nd at best. He has the tires in a barbed wire fence in part of the field. Wanted $300 for full sets. I looked for about 2 minutes and high tailed out of there before being murdered.

I start every listing with, "no reply to IS IT STILL AVAILABLE?" Are you looking at the add????? I don't need to make money - just want to reduce my pile of stuff. One guy came to look at my motorcycle then started in on how bad the tires looked, hoping to knock down the price. I stood firm and he went away only to return days later. Like magic, the price jumped up $50. Who could have seen that coming?
