Yes, it would have been nice if the women could have operated the machine and brought the house down themselves. It's understandable that they weren't allowed to because the other houses that were too close. If they weren't experienced with the machine, they could have accidentally punched a hole into another house.

Also she was pregnant multiple times from him and he killed all of them, now she can never have any more kids because of him.
