I don't like the way Disney is slowly monopolizing the entertainment industry, competition urges brands to pump out better content.
That's how show business works
Competition in the cultural fields under commercial control (news, cinema, etc.) paradoxically tends to standardize everything. The fight between companies (Disney, Netflix...) makes them indiscernible. Their search for difference brings them closer together: they steal ideas, writers, producers from each other and end up producing very similar content. To have creativity in the cultural industry, you need it to be independent from economic imperatives. People need to be able to create without worrying about how lucrative their creation is going to be.
They are not slowly monopolizing, they are already a monopoly.
"Competition breeds excellence." Or it should. But unregulated capitalism is the problem.

Blue Sky Studio created Ice Age, Rio, and Robots. the films were mid but they were still popular enough to compete in box office. this scared disney not just because they might be Pixar 2.0, but because theyre a major competent animation studio NOT in California. they were an east coast company untouched by hollywood.
Disney bought them out, released one last movie called Spies in Disguise (the pigeon movie with will smith and tom holland) before shutting the studio down. what they do is make it impossible to compete in terms of media. thats why disney changes copyright laws, buys companies, makes anime, and do everything they can so that no-one can defeat disney unless you're as big of a company as disney

Netflix failed for a couple reasons, but the more notable of the reasons(the reason being mentioned because it's notable), is that Netflix replaced their entertaining content with content that's political or pushing certain messages. Which being political isn't inherently bad, the problem is when you're replacing the entertainment with politics in a field that's about entertaining people. You don't entertain anyone, you just hope they clap and say good things because you said something political they disagree with.
And part of why they'd have any reason to push boring political messages over actual entertainment, is it sounds good to investors and people who get others to invest, like Blackrock.
And the large problem with Disney's ties to China is the fact that they're supporting a government that's committing massive human rights violations and atrocities.

They've been shitting out some pretty horrible movies lately if I'm being honest. They just don't have the same feel as the old ones and you can tell there is much less effort put into them. Don't get me wrong though not all of them are bad, just majority of them.

Movies like Ratatouille, Cars, Toy Story, Lion King, the Incredibles and Big Hero 6 are absolutely fantastic imo. I don't have a connection with the new ones.Turning Red especially was so boring. I literally predicted the mayor "plot twists". It doesn't seem like a unique movie at all. It's just "another animated movie".

You wonder why most modern movies feel very much the same and why everything is very PC. Disney is probably your answer, they're trying to farm social clout by pretending to be woke in western countries but happy to play into whatever they have to to make money in places like China. Its pretty sad considering it seems like Walt and some of the people early on where actually set on making a good company, but as with most things, as soon as investors smell that they can make more money and after the founder dies a lot of things change and now they just spam movies hoping to make profits, even though most of them lose money because everyone knows they're going to be less than stellar.

Many Disney fans, like me, have criticized the company but we still like the movies, tv shows, and theme parks. However, I still hate that people generalize us that we don’t aren’t critical of the company.

A lot of what he says comnects it back to " the woke agenda" instead of realising that neoliberalism is the most profitable political position for large corporations due to it not affecting the hegemonic power of large corporations while not alienating large swaths of the population. Most companies that have conservative political affiliations found that it was the most profitable niche. Notice how there are no leftist companies due to the nature of leftism.
