  • In this video I’m going to give you my Panaracer Smoke Dart review. If you’re looking for true skin wall 26″ trail tires, the Panaracer Smoke Dart combination is one of the very few solutions out there.
Panaracer always makes very nice tires. I’ve bought a bunch of them and these Smoke and Dart are a very obvious for any retro build.

Currently winning a bid on eBay for an unused set of these at half price of brand new just to fit to a frame that I haven't even picked up yet😂 a late 90s yellow GT Tempest, or my 1998 GT Timberline All-Terra 🤔

Hello, little late to the party but if you’re reading this I wanted to ask if you happen to know how good are they in ultra light to moderate snow. I plan on using the duo as commuter tires!and wanted to know if smoke and dart can get me by without having to sell my arm for a studded tire set.
    - Side note, Your Cannonade looks amazing!, (I got to watch the latest vid). I wouldn’t say I’m doing a restoration, but I do plan on putting the smoke and dart on an old Diamond Back hybrid to maybe road bike. It’s a frame that I’ve never seen before, with the only indication that it’s a diamond back being a little chain guard on the rear arm. If you know about old frames I’d love to send you pictures to see if you happen to know what year this gal belongs too.

The smoke and dart are not the best mountain bike tires in terms of grip. I would argue that for moderate snow you don't need studded tires. Those are for icy spots. A solid trail tire would do the trick as well probably, and better than the Panaracers. Depending on price I would either go for a Schwalbe Nobby Nic or Maxxis DHF, both front and back. And obviously there are grippier tires than those two as well. They're not cheap though. If you want to share your bike the Facebook group is what I offer to do so.

Do they run slightly wider than the advertised 2.1 width? They tire profile looks a bit fatter, which I approve. The last set of tires I ordered were advertised as 2.1 width but ended up measuring more like 1.95.

@@zyzzyx3160 I'd dispute that given my 92 GT Avalanche had Smokes on.
