Really pleased to hear that you had a good hobby year. Trust in your presenting capability where you can, you come across as relaxed, and honest. A welcome break from the hype train that’s always focused on what’s new, and what’s next. You show hobbyists that there is just as much enjoyment in playing and painting what you already have, which is awesome.
@@TheHalfDoneHobbyist of course. I feel hobby bingo really adds to making sure different things get done over the year and allows for breaks. Forcing you to paint something different. I've got some already done as I finished them up after the white dwarf came out. Couple of heresey squads and the goff rocker. My Khan has been cleaned and primed in white scar. I'll be working on him over the coming months. hopefully he comes out ok. Will love to see you tackling some kill teams. Show us your stodes!
@@TheHalfDoneHobbyist you're too kind my man. I haven't painted as much as I wish I had. The heresey box really put a spanner in the works. Being as I started back in the hobby in Sept21. 2022 was a big year for me as a first full year of hobby. Your hobby tip video definitely helped me with keeping my desk busy and flowing. Definitely get into the hobby bingo, it'll really keep things fresh. Plus if you get a kill team box or the new 10th box ik sure that'll help clear lots of boxes. Plus there's play boxes too this year so if someone is more of a player then they can go that route.
You lost confidence in your abilities because of all the great paintjobs that got pumped out, while I'm losing confidence myself, seeing your paintjobs and comparing them to mine :D I I wouldn't worry about making progress at an advanced age, so many of the top painters are approaching 50 or even 60 years now.
Thanks, that's very nice of you to say! I'm in a better frame of mind now and I think my style of painting has a place on UA-cam. You're right about the top painters ageing, it's just that I have a bit of an issue with my right eye just now, which is kind of accelerating things. Sometimes I just aim for what I think is detail and hope for the best!
Happy new year , hope 2023 is an even better hobby year for you! Much like yourself I'm looking to get more painting and gaming fitted in this year, get my skaven team finished off and get back to work on my ork army before 10th arrives and brings more goodies to add to my pile of shame. Hopefully get a few games in soon.
Great to have you back 👍 and it sounds like it's going to be a great year. I'm aiming for 10th edition as well with my Space Marines and Eldar. I want to hit the ground running. It will be good to hear an update on Warhammer+ and see what I am missing 🤣 Angron sounds like a cool project and terrain is a must! You created those cool tiles last year and the cargo containers.
I can't wait to see your finished armies - they're already looking fantastic! You're not missing anything with Warhammer + - take one of my videos from early last year and that's still about what you can expect.🤣 I just love the Angron model. I must admit the Berserkers are looking great too. I'm looking forward to painting terrain, mainly so I have some nice backgrounds for photos.
Great video as usual Simon. Just keep being consistent and people will realize what great content you create(like we all do). Cheers and happy new year brother!
Happy new year! Yes, let the Kill Team flow through you! It's my first ever tabletop game and I love it, it's probably one of the healthiest and most balanced GW games, and as you say, doesn't require the same commitment as big boy 40k. If I had to stick to building and painting one big army I would have gotten very bored by now, but kill team let's you easily switch and it keeps things interesting. I've mostly played Genestealer Cults Wyrmblade, and I'm currently working on the Kroot Kinband. Anyway, your painting is great, it's easy to get downhearted when scrolling through insta, but you often forget that many of these talented folks either paint as a profession or spend dozens upon dozens of hours on a single mini, which just isn't feasible for everyone. One of my new years hobby resolutions is to actually get faster and try to simplify my painting - minimum effort, maximum impact - as I don't have a lot of free time - I've been painting my Kinband since October! I'll certainly be embracing slap chop and contrast paints in future! As for your content it's great, just do what makes you happy, personally I find your content really chilled and I appreciate that. Anyways, I look forward to see what you come up with, we follow each other on insta (@brushthemountaingoat) so hopefully I'll have my finished Kinband up soon.
Yeah, Kill Team seems to be the most accessible game so I’m going all in. Would you recommend the Wyrmblade? Thanks for the kind words about my painting, I guess it’s easy to forget that a lot of people are full time artists and we are just hobbyists. I’ve got a lot planned for this year, I just hope I get the time to pull it all off! I loved your Chaplain with the furry bits, very cool take on it. I’ll keep an eye out for your Kinband. Thanks for watching the channel and I’ll hopefully make it worthwhile for you! Cheers!
@@TheHalfDoneHobbyist The chaplain was done by my buddy, we share the Instagram page! I'll pass your kind words on! I love Wyrmblade, they're not the strongest team out there but they are very competitive. They have lots of sneaky tricks which I love, but they've also got a bit of a learning curve, at least for me who is quite new to tabletop. They're very squishy and can get shredded easily if you're not careful, but if you can get the kelemorph into the coop he's an absolute bullet tornado.
Happy New years! Looking forward to following your hobby progress in 2023. I'm trying to commit to painting models this year. Only got stuff built and primed last year. Think I'll try the kill team and warcry terrain first.
@@TheHalfDoneHobbyist like yourself, I had used the kill team compendium to create a few kill teams from models I already had. I'd like to try painting the genestealer cult first I think.

Happy new year :)
This year I'm going to paint as much as possible and try and paint bigger display quality miniatures too
Happy new year! That’s awesome. I hope I get to see them!
Awesome video Simon! Looking forward to more of your work.
Can't wait to see your lion. Maybe one day he can team up with the Khan!
Thanks! That’d be amazing! I’m just cleaning the Lion up at the moment, I hope to get going soon. Doing Hobby bingo again this year?
