Really good video Kate. You are a natural at interviewing people and letting them tell their story without interruption. It's great to see their culture and how they are content and happy to live it. The rest of the world could learn a lot from them. Keep having fun and stay safe.

My Homeland 🇦🇸. Our Veterans/Elders are truly right. A lot has changed. I’m grateful I was raised and grew up with the teachings from my Grandparents. Always humble yourself. Put God first and everything will fall in to place. Our Faith in God(Church), our culture, our Faasinomaga is what makes us who we are as Samoa. I’m proud of my Home Island American Samoa and Samoa. Samoa muamua Le Atua!

Kate, you did a marvelous job of giving us insight of what the natives/inhabitants are thinking and believe. In a way I envy them because they seem to be happier and relaxed as to how their life is but a leopard cannot change his spots so I better find a way to find contentment where I live.
P.S. A little bit hard to do at this time with the second hurricane approaching the West coast of Florida in ten days.

I am an 80 year old Brit who lives in France and I played amateur rugby union until my mid thirties when I think it’s fair to say that I converted from dinghy sailing in the summer to cruising in the English Channel and Brittany. The reason I have given this rambling introduction is because in Europe the Samoans are well known as outstanding rugby players who also ply their trade in New Zealand and Australia. I understand that life after rugby for the average professional Samoan player is difficult because they return home with relatively little savings from their time playing and supporting their extended families, injuries can be financially catastrophic.

I think this can be true for a lot of professional athletes or even collegiate athletes. Thank you for sharing with us.

OMG 😱, Kate…..cute hair cut‼️ It’s wonderful to see and hear people that trust and believe in God. It warmed my heart. Thank you for including this in your episode. Loved the pink lipstick!! Seems Roxy was interested in your coconut cream yummmy. 😊 I pray Curtis is OK as he only made a cameo appearance.🫣 See you next time. 🌊💨⛵️🏝️👙🌞✨

Where I grew up the religious culture also closed down for prayer time. Also there are religious men that would enforce the closing the stores etc.

I've leaned something this day. It's pronounced SAHmoa and not SAMoa.

I used to live in American Samoa, and worked at the hospital. I want to come back for a vacation. Its on my bucket list! I used to stay at the Vaoto Lodge over on Ofu sometimes, and knew the prior owners (Marge and Tito Malae). Sadly, they passed away, but I think someone else took it over. I have great memories of that place. I would like to stay there when I come over, but cannot find a phone number for the lodge. There are several places on TripAdvisor that list the motel with photos, but there's no phone number or workable "contact" link. Does anyone know if the motel is still in business or not? If they are, could you provide the phone number? Thanks for any help with this question!
