My parents had two alarmclocks just like this one when i grew up in the 70s(one was brown and one was black), they already then gave me a vintage feeling when "playing" winding and listening to them. Now I realy realy wonder where they went... This video gave me flashback to my childhood 👍😊
I've been collecting these types of clocks, they all work but a few definitely need a cleaning, as they aren't keeping time that well. I'm a complete newbie at this, but I'll try to learn. Thank you for this!
Great restoration. Would have loved to have seen the rebuild in a bit more detail up close, especially installing the balance and escapement. Keep up the great work.
I'm planning on getting one of these bad boys restored, but the satin lining is damaged... not sure if I can find a replacement bearing the original crest :(
There is a c shaped leaf spring inside the case that keep the hinge close (like sunglasses case). It's very thin and often it brakes. If your case won't close it's likely that you had loose or break that part.
Ciao! Vivo in Italia pure io.
Enrico Alfonso Ricciardi Neu-Ulm ( D)
It's for quickly regulate the time accuracy. It acts on a regulating arm over the hairspring, making the balance wheel (and so the time) run quicker or slower. Any mechanical clock have that systems, in some clock is more hidden than others.
There are many travel alarm clock of that age that all share the same German movement. In your clock there are many things that could be possible damaged, it's difficult to say without opening and look at it. Most likely could be the balance wheel stuck due to dirt or debris on the shaft and escape pins. Your clock will probably need a good service for cleaning and oil all the movement.
It is not meant to be disassembled, it's press fitted on the allarm pinion tube and then the pinion tube is beveled outwards so is It's impossible to pull the hand out. If its not strictly necessary I would avoid to try to remove it. If you won't damage the dial the "best" solution is to sacrifice the allarm hand by cutting a slot on it where it's attached to the pinion.
Old clock didn't ever had an online catalog, so you can find only the ones that someone had review over the time. Maybe your never been reviewed online. Which clock is it?

Same. My parents had 2, but one is lost to time. I'm thinking of getting the surviving one restored. So many memories, both for me and them...

The movement was made in Germany, and it dates 1976 ... Not from the 1940 ;)
But it remains a nice clock !
Veglia also made speedometers

I just bought a travel alarm clock but the case won't close. Can you do a video showing how to fix the locking clasp thingy? Thanks!

What is the little sunburst dial on the back of the clock for, near the Whitstable mainspring winder?
