When Mr. Webber made this musical into a movie, he wanted a rock star voice for Erik, and Gerry just so happened to have been in a rock band in his youth. I won't deny he has got an AWESOME VOICE!!! I've seen the movie countless times and ADORED IT every time! I think 'The Phantom of the Opera' is THE BEST LOVE TRIANGLE STORY EVER!!! I'd personally rate it 100,000 stars.
Haha, I think she did. She was saying in another interview that she and Gerard would go see concerts together and that she would cook food for him. I mean - who wouldn't have a crush? ;D

That's the problem with the movie. They turned the Phantom into some tragic Harlequin Romance antihero whose mask seems to be more of a fashion accessory than something to hide his hideousness. When he's finally unmasked at the end, he just looks like he has a bad sunburn or a chemical peel. But he's very good-looking and oozes sex appeal. The Phantom is supposed to be grotesque and frightening. He's the antagonist, not the hero. Ugh! The film was a mess!

+madilovezyooh I meant sure of herself or confident in herself, not self-absorbed. She was only 18 and is sitting with a much older cast, but she comes across as very confident and able to hold her own, which stood out to me.

I was browsing youtube and came across this. What a hoot! I had the pleasure of working and studying with Patrick for a summer in '92. We were doing Shakespeare in France, Patrick was Hamlet and he was incredible. Everyone knew he was going to be famous someday. He is the nicest and most humble person I have ever met. the way he comes off in this interview is the way he is in real life. I'm sorry I lost touch with him over the years.
They're all amazing hahah. One of my most favorite movies.

I can't remember, because it's been so long since I read the book. But I always assumed she was Italian, from the name and the sound of her voice. I can understand why you'd get confused, since it is set in Paris and it's been hard for me to distinguish separate accents before as well. But La Carlotta just screams "ITALIAN" to me in every nuance of her character. (I don't mean that in an offensive way at all; I'M Italian, so I know, ha ha.)

I'm pretty sad he didn't even have a bit part in Les Mis. Now there's two major blockbusters made of his two most famous roles, and he got to be a picture in one and didn't appear in the other. Thank God for my 25th anniversary DVDs.
Phantom of the opera where is the single most best movie in 2004 if you were singing ability and for the last year I cannot give enough of your singing ability of Phantom of the opera specially as Christine and the Phantom of the opera was wonderful as well

Yeah Patrick went to Carnegie Mellon and had just finished his freshman year when we did that summer Shakespeare in Avignon group. He was still a kid then, but even so, his stage presence was so powerful it was scary! He hadn't found his singing voice yet and in those days he was still a baritone. At some point in the next year it all click for him and he found his upper register.
In those days we used to joke about how much he looked like Paul Newman in "Cool Hand Luke".
Gotta say that Patrick is really hot ;) (Gerry is also, of course!)

Oh how cool! He does seem like such a gentleman in contrast to the more (dare I say it) "overly extroverted" (although certainly not in this interview - which is suprising and refreshing) Gerard Butler. That sounds like it must have been a blast to have performed Shakespeare with Patrick. I recently found out that my cousin Jordan is attending the same college that he graduated from and every once in a while comes to give speeches there. But he never met him, as my cousin is a jazz musician.
Ramin Karimloo was in the movie, as Christine's father, Gustave Daae. Why oh WHY did they not get him for the Phantom? Or even as Raoul! His singing is ethereal

Oh I love them all. Emmy is gorgeous, and while she may Not have the best voice she still has a lovley one and she in only young any way she was a cute Christine. Patrick was funny in the movie with is wig, and he has a beautiful voice, he aces every note !! Gerry is cool I Love his accent I don't know If the role of the phantom really suited him but he did do a good job and I really like him :) as for minnie, she is just plain hilarious. Her accent and her stories ! Oh
