Someday! Top of my bucket list to get some Coober Pedy rough Opal!! But no thanks, on going in the hole!! Amazed at what you do!!! Be careful out there!!! Can't wait to see more!!!
You absolutely must Mary!! Hahaha, the hole really wasn’t as scary as you would expect and luckily there is heaps of room in the mine, or at least there was in Steve’s! Phew!
Absolutely, it was unreal. The two of us spent the whole next week like what the heck just happened!! How lucky are we! Hope the weather is treating you well. 😅
Great to see the boys in their native environment! We usually chat in the sunshine.. Henceforth and forever more a bit of trace shall be known as 'A bit of Grimshaw' haha, cheers to Steve and Stasi and to you guys for making the video!
@@lilandjake Weve been running a channel for a while now, it's hard to put out interesting and different content..... I love your tongue in cheek humor, you two work well together and deserve every success... Keep up the good work!
You guys are so blessed to have a neighbor like that. I’d love to be able to go mine some Opal for a few days. Being stuck smack dab in the middle of the USA there’s no chance to do anything like that. That was awesome to watch though, thank you for taking us along.
Coober Pedy is my home town! So cool to see you guys showing it! Interesting to see your reactions to what was normalised for me growing up! Just stumbled across your channel today from your Yorke Peninsula video 😄
Wow i’m never been in this channel before, it pop out because i’m watching often opal stuff, but its a well worth watching! Such massive underground working for opal, well done! I can tell you have all good time down there! 😊 I’m hardrock miner, we use drill and blasting because its too hard to use this kind of harvest machine, its do a clean jobs, need just pillars no any roof support, easy as it is!
Thank you so much! Welcome to our channel! It was huge, so much bigger than we expected it to be down there. That’s super interesting! What do you mine for?
Gosh this feels like a lifetime ago, we have done sooo much. By far one of our favourites though, what a crazy experience!! So glad you’re enjoying our videos Wayne. 🤩
WoW. I never thought of you as a gold digger Lilly! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 But now I know!! LOL!!! I hope you enjoyed your time underground! I use to do a lot of speiliology when I was younger. So much fun. However, I wouldn't want to be making my living out of it! Great episode! Good to see you both doing everything you can to make this channel so interesting!!! 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
I would love to work in a mine like this for a month. Already looked into how to get there, food and shelter. Just worried about transportation and finding a miner willing to let an unexperienced texan work under their wing. Costs are around $5-6k for one month including flights from Austin, Tx airport to Sydney to Coober Pedy. p.s. not worried about making money there just interested in the work and experience in a mining setting.
If them small openings in the ground are the only way into the mines. It makes me think how did they get that digger down into the mine. I know a lot of mines they take all there large equipment down piece by piece and then put them together inside the mine. But i could see some of the parts on that digger would be to big to get down the hole you went down. Unless the hole is bigger than it looks on camera. Plus what had they used on the walls with all the circles all over the walls and roof
Hey Jon, great question! The digger is actually brought down in seperate pieces which makes it small enough to get down the hole. The circles on the wall are made with that exact digger, the end spins around and creates those circular patterns. Cheers! 👍🏽
@@lilandjake Looking at some of the parts for the digger. They look to big for the hole you went down. Like the chassis. Unless the chassis is 2 half's and bolt or weld together
The neatest, clean mines I have ever seen. Your neighbor knows what he is doing. Much respect sir.
I know right! How incredible is it. He is such a superstar at what hey does. Thank you so much for watching! 🤩

Wow so interesting. Such a hard life and way to earn a living (or not)
It was so interesting and incredible to catch a glimpse of other people’s lives! Hahaha, maybe one day! 🤞🏼
How did you get on to that Bloke does he do tours or something?
We are just so lucky to know him and he was kind enough to take us down! He is our neighbour in Tassie!
That would of been an awesome thing to do.
It was a one of the most incredible things so far! 😍
set up home down there
People do! The houses look unreal! 👌🏽
That mine doesn't belong to Ashley. He mines outside of the tunnels. It belongs to a bloke who owns a tour company there. Noble Tours Coober Pedy.
Way too much squawking right off the hop might wanna change that in the future or not
First mistake..you guys had no safety helmets on..thats asking for death
