Great show! My wife is a manager there and I recently started volunteering on Fridays. It’s so rewarding! FYI we need more volunteers! Maybe you can spread the word!
Glad to hear our veterans are being taken care of. I think anyone that is willing to serve and protect this country in the military deserves some kind of free or very low cost health care! Thank you for your service!!!! Thanks Jerry and Linda for keeping a variety of videos coming.
Another good show. I just retired from the VA here in Cheyenne in May 2021. Most of the information your USMC guests passed on is accurate. Good to hear that the VA there is doing a good job. See ya at the end of the month.
I took my dad a navy man to the NJ Veteran Hospital & local VA clinic for more than a decade on every appointment. I would take every one of his doctors & dentist over any private practice doctor we had for him prior to switching 100% to VA medical physicians. Unfortunately, dad was 85 when we knew he was eligible for so many benefits to improve his quality of life and health. I have learned first hand experience to tap into VA services but it is a federal bureaucracy and even for the educated person it is a challenge. Thank you for doing this show. I will be one of those volunteers working with vets to honor my dad I took care of for 15 years in home who passed from Alzheimer’s 2 years ago. 🇺🇸
Viet Nam vet(combat medic) who worked 30 years in the O.R. at our local VA.We even had some WW1 vets when I started.Let me tell you we worked hard.Had a 50 bed surgical unit and those beds never got cold .If some one left that bed was occupied as soon as it could be cleaned. Unfortunately it is now just clinics so if you need a big surgery your sent to a larger VA Hospital.I live in the only state in the union that doesn't have a full service VA hospital now .I'll let you find out which state that is.But our junior senitor sits on the commity for Veterans affairs.
Thanks so much for posting this. I was interested in the Villages but am under the VA care here in Colorado. Good to know that you have a clinic in the area for regular things. I'm also an American Legion member. One thing I might point out is that while the VA doesn't provide dental coverage for those who are disabled there is a program through Delta Dental for veteran's which is a discounted rate.
The men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their country I pray that they will be blessed for their unselfish service and their continued struggle to preserve our freedoms and our safety, and our country's heritage, they deserve the best!👏👏👏🙏🙏👍🏼😍💝💞💌💕💓
Respect To All Veterans 🇺🇸 My Husband Is A Navy Vet And Goes To The Local VA Clinic Dr But If Any Tests Other Than Blood Work he Has To Go To The VA Hospital In Gainesville, They Take Great Care Of Our Veterans Here In Florida, The Staff Are Wonderful And Appointments Are Quickly Set Up, Medications Mailed, Can't Say Enough Good Things About Our VA Here👍
I loved this show! My Dad was a Sea Bee and our family traveled the world. I have always had the utmost respect for our military ladies and gentlemen. I think things are especially difficult in this present time for those who are serving and I think everyone involved can use much prayer and support. God bless you Linda and Jerry. You are the best! I know you are very proud of the service of your 3 sons and I am proud of my nephew who has been serving in the Coast Guard. Have a blessed day!
Thank you, thank you. We are BIG supporters of the military and it is greatly appreciated you took this time to explain what access they have to health care.
Thanks to Don and Tom for their service I was skeptical about moving down to Florida for fear lack of care for veterans. I have good care hear and have complicated health issues. Here we have phone appointments and telehealth so we don’t have to go to Milwaukee.. This had made me feel better about a possible move to the Villages and or Ocala as they are getting a new VA
Newcomers/Jerry & Linda, Once again, you two have done it! The subject matter & people you get on your channel are so well informed & pleasant to listen to. They give the information without it becoming too convoluted to keep track of. I'm sure it had something to do with them being good men/women, or as my Mother, & Grandmothers always said, It's because they're "Good People!" It seems that all of the people you've had on, for whatever the topic, they are all just great! For any of us considering a move to the Villages, this is very good to know that it's not a fluke that you've only had nice & informed people on your channel! And that is a great & likely unintentional part of your question & answer sessions! Keep up the great work you both do for all of OUR pleasure. Thank you so much! God bless you both! Renee 😊
Awesome video 👍 I subscribed because I am an Veteran. Good to know about a Huge American Legion Veterans Organization in The Villages. I want to move to Florida. You never know, we might be neighbors someday 🇺🇸
Great video thank you Don & Tom for your services and Jerry for brining them in... My daughter works for the VA she been there for over 25 years.....TFS
One of your guests mentioned that the American Legion here has 6,000 members and is the largest in the country/world. The Villages has the largest number of veterans of any community outside a community with a military installation. We also have the Veterans Memorial Park at Spanish Springs and the Eisenhower Regional Recreceation Center is a mini military museum full of exhibits donated by The Villages residents, and we have many veterans support organizations. Thanks again for a great video!!
Very timely video. I will be in the Villages for a lifestyle visit next week and looking into making the best use of my retirement benefits. I’m also encouraged to hear from my brethren that there is a robust volunteer spirit in the community. Semper Fidelis CWO3 USMC (Ret)
It’s hard for me to talk about ,but I can say my husband was taking care of by the veteran’s administration. These two gentlemen covered it well. My Mr. Smith has been gone since Feb. 2010.
Thanks for your service gentleman. I use the Cape Coral VA Medical Center down here (Naples Resident). Excellent facility and wonderful staff. The VA has come a long way in the last few years. Navy 74-78
Thank you for interview with these Marines. When I lived in the Villages I was only 3 miles from the VA clinic it just passed Nancy Lopes golf course. I’m a Vietnam Veteran and 100% P&T disabled Veteran. So it will help me next year when I move back to The Villages. I was with 1st Battalion 9th Marines, The Walking Dead and very proud to have served. The VA has helped with all my problems I’m 100% for PTSD so it will be convenient to have the VA so close now I travel 30 miles 3 times a month. Thank you.
When I enlisted in the Marine corps in 1968 I was paid $95 a month. When I was shipped to Vietnam I received overseas pay and combat pay witch came to a total of $216 a month. 68-69. SEMPER FI
Thank God for our veterans! They deserve the best medical care, and our undying gratitude. We live very close to a great VA hospital, where our friends and neighbors who have served get great care. This is so important. Thank you for this video!
Excellent video with a lot of good info but there's one thing they forgot to tell you. Make sure you have filed your claim for service connected disability so that you are in the VA system. You can get your medical records from the Military Personnel Records Center in St. Louis but it can take months if you don't already have a copy. File the claim. Get in the system so they can help you. Best of luck.
Just got my hearing aids 2 weeks ago from the VA clinic in my area, no charge, Have prostate cancer, VA checks me every 3 months, retired military my primary care dr checkes me the other 3 months and my cancer dr checks me the other 6 moths all spread out so im coverd the whole year. After i retired from the Army i worked at the Miami VA for 9 month before moving to DC for another job. The VA has changed over the last years that is correct and it is getting better. . But you couldn't find any Army guys to be on the show, they must have been golfing.Great information.
Ooh rah !! Good to hear our HEROS are getting the medical services they need at the Villages ! I’m a seasoned Ret Proud Marine Mom my Son 2nd Recon 2000-2004 OIF I wear my white hair Proudly 👍🇺🇸♥️ Jerry & Linda please THANK your Sons for their Service & thank you for raising 2 🇺🇸Patriotic Men God Bless You & Your Family.
The VA in the Villages has great support for female Vets as well such as mammograms, etc. I travel from Citrus County for care. What timing as I have an appointment with my primary today. My husband is a Vietnam Vet, and we attended the hearing class. Great video.
Love your channel i just subed recently. My Aunt and Uncle live in Spanish springs. i am 50 years old right. i am very tempted to move there. I am also a Veteran :)
That is great!! I am a recently retired primary care R.N. x 21 years from the Providence, R.I. VA. Hopefully my husband and I will be relocating to TV sometime next year.
Well it sounds like everything is just wonderful at the Villages VA clinic. I’m new to the Villages (July) and although I’ve had experience with VA hospitals in Boston and Palo Alto, I’ve never experienced anything like the clinic here. Wait times for primary care are about 1 1/2 months. Dental cleaning 4 1/2 months. Just try to get in touch with your doctor. Several layers of BS there. Care is substandard in my opinion.
I think it would be fair to give an honest review about the Villages VA clinic. Just “hearting” my comment does not address the issues raised here. The two gentlemen you interviewed did not really represent the opinions of most of the veterans that attend that clinic. Care delayed is care denied.
Wish you had asked them about any military discounts they get around there and if the state does anything for them. Here in Georgia, if you're a veteran you don't have to paid for your drivers license or your car tag plus they will give you a military tag with your branch of service on it. If you're a 100% disabled veteran, you don't have to pay property tax. Also most all of the restaurants and stores around will gives a military discount. Just wondering if the restaurants and the stores there in the Villages give veterans discounts?
Good job Jerry and Linda. I'm sure that you brought valuable information to a veteran near you, or one considering a move to the Villages.👍 God bless our veterans. 🇺🇸🇺🇸 Something Don said was valuable, when someone is hard of hearing, Don't talk to them from another room. 😃 👍
Great story!!! Another story idea would be to find a Veteran or two who retired from the military to discuss Medicare and Tricare for life which is a transfer of your Tricare benefit once eligible for medicare. How's that working for them in the Villages as a lot of Veterans don't have the priority level to receive VA health benefits that cover everything. Just a thought! :) Thanks again and GO AIR FORCE BEAT ARMY!! Bring the Commander and Chiefs trophy (Football) back to the Air Force Academy where it belongs!😁
if you left service and were healthy and got a fairly good job making like 30000 a year i believe you do not qualify for va benefits. you use the health care that you got while working there. then you get medicare when you turn 65.
Great show! My wife is a manager there and I recently started volunteering on Fridays. It’s so rewarding! FYI we need more volunteers! Maybe you can spread the word!
I was going to suggest doing a video on VA healthcare in TV. In stead I did a search and look what popped up! You are always a step ahead.
Glad to hear our veterans are being taken care of. I think anyone that is willing to serve and protect this country in the military deserves some kind of free or very low cost health care! Thank you for your service!!!! Thanks Jerry and Linda for keeping a variety of videos coming.
Thank you! My husband is a veteran (almost 26 years of service) and has not been to the clinic here yet. This is great info.

Thank you Jerry and Linda for this information! It gives me a piece of mind for when I move down full time.

From the bottom of our hearts....thank you for your service! 👏👏💕💕💕

The VA is building a large facility in Ocala on west highway 200 . What it’s for I don’t know but looks nice
Mark, any chance you know what they are building?
