Thank you. My neighbor has a 2001 Sienna and the fuses checked out good. Your video helped me find the relay location and I replaced it with the same Novita EP35 in your video and it's all working again. The old relay was hard to pull out because it was stuck but with persistence it came out. Installing the new one took maybe 5 seconds. Thanks again.

October 2023, thanks for the video. I slid module holder out of base so whole item hangs down by wires. It made it much easier to remove relay. It was hard to remove like others said. Got relay at Autozone for $13 plus tax.

Excellent video! I could not find the relay even though I knew it was the likely cause but this video makes it very clear. Getting the old one out was actually really difficult for me. We ended up using pliers to pull it. Tip: Make sure you know the pin orientation before you try putting the new one in, so take a good look when you pull the old one.

Usually relay plug shaped exactly as the socket where you put it in, so you won't be able to insert relay in wrong way.

Thanks for the video..I had trouble finding the relay.and then even harder time pulling it of, I ended up breaking the plastic holder and had it hanging so then taking it of the pin was easier ..just had to snuff it to a open space once replaced..and now it WORKS!!

how hard was it for you to pull the relay out? Im having hard time even moving it a millimeter. I was wondering if its got locks or tabs of some sort?
I also feel like theres a lot of cables in front of the relay that may be stopping me from pulling it out but then again I should at least feel it moving a little bit but in my case its not moving at all.
I have the same vehicle and year as you just LE.

Even my mechanic can't find this relay "magically under the steering wheel" - it's like the cake from Portal. Haven't even bolted it back together, just driving around with it hanging - and it is not back there, only fuse box and a couple of connector clusters, no relay.

@@SergSpace 2003 toyota sienna. [canadian import model] instead of using two little 16 dollar relays for turns and hazards like the U.S model is uses one big fat relay that does it all. that only toyota makes and they charge 60+ for it. so i just go to pick and pull, yank about 5 of them outta cars, get em for pennies on the dollar and throw em in the glove box so if one fails weeks or years down the road, i got enough spares for dirt cheap to last me the life time of of the van. same with my 95 dodge ram, alternator fuse is 10 dollars all the parts stores around me dont carry it, dodge only, 17 cents at the junk yard, go pull a few and good to go. [my kid loves to cross the jump cables in the winter and blows fuses -_- ] now more important parts like alternators, im with you on that, i wont trust a junk yard for parts like that.

It should. Locate relay, check the name, Google it if it's signals and hazards relay you pulled. Bring your relay in local auto store, they should find a similar one. Compare notches and contacts, install the new one.

It could be a defective relay. Try to resit it first. If it won't help, ask for replacement of your relay from whoever you bought it. Make sure that it's a correct relay for your car.

    • @SergSpace

Change turn signal light bulb and sell this car. Car computer is responsible for lock system. This computer by itself cost about $500. If you going to change it by yourself, you have a risk to blow airbags. Replacing computer won't guarantee, that new one will not have the same problems. This is factory flaw in design.

I'm not a mechanic, I just know common problems. I make a research, then come to conclusions. There is the same lock system problems for Honda CRV. And yes for 90% I'm sure that this is a car computer. If you are ready to invest like $1000, go ahead, but as I said it just might be a temporarily solution. Bad engineering year is a bad year.
