    This is exactly why i side eye people who say i do to much to my hair with my locs.... the only thing that changed is i don't do wash days as often but i still make sure my hair is moisturized and hydrated in between

    Yikes! 😬
    Locs are your hair. The idea that you don’t have to lubricate and moisturize your tangled strands is ridiculous. It’s still hair and needs to be taken care of.

    All that work to comb them out, just to end up having to chop and start over. 😢

      I've never seen a self comb out ever work out for someone. It's always full of damage or thinning. Most people are better off just starting over cuz they don't care for their locs enough.

    This is why I didn't loc my hair. You still need to have a rountine of washing, conditioner, and moisture.

    I recently discovered that my hair looks very similar to this and I was wondering what to do and if it should be cut by a professional. I’m so scared to go to a salon nowadays. I haven’t been since 2013 and it it was for color and a trim by my old stylist that I’d been going to for almost 20 years. I’m thinking that I might need a new stylist because my old one doesn’t seem to know much about natural hair. My hair is long past my shoulders , but thin after years of twist outs, being anemic and health issues in the past 4-5 years. I’m past all that now have been seeing a dermatologist for the past year and 3 months and I’m trying to thicken my hair.

    How do you take care of hair that is in wig cornrows? I used to wear my natural hair in braids mostly, I would use ayurveda as well and I stopped wearing braids because I realised my hair broke off. I switched to wearing wig conrows underneath my glueless wigs. I got a cut which was a big trim I had so many split ends and I've switched to going to a professional stylist instead of doing my own hair. I am wondering how to moisturise the cornrows. So my hair isn't dry once I remove them. Thanks

    Facts. I followed the "less is more" approach to my locs for 10 years, which works for some but apparently not me, resulted in lots of scalp and hair damage. I had to cut my locs all off. Fast forward my fro is full and lush, I pamper my hair now.

    I wonder if she'll be able to keep it healthy on her own for 6 months to a year. A lot more damage can be done in that time.

    • @AfrikanHairGod
      @AfrikanHairGod  3 місяці тому +5

      Damage doesn't occur that quickly unless you are deliberately going out of your way to damage it. Shorter hair is stronger than longer hair, especially when there is absolutely no damage present. She has no thinning, breakage, or split ends at this point so her hair will be much stronger, resilient, and resistant to damage than it's she was carrying those issues.
      This is the tradeoff of cutting ALL of your damage off. You lose more length but you're hair will experience so much more of impact to hair health and length retention vs chipping and whittling away damage like most people do.

    My hair likes to fall out randomly due to genetically abnormal blood cells and neurodivergent stress. I'm not spending all that time working on locs to have them fall out and need repair.

    If I were to comb out my microlocs, my hair would probably look worse than this with the amount of neglect that I’ve done lol yall please don’t neglect your locs if you have them. You may not need to do as much as with loose hair but regular care and maintenance is ABSOLUTELY necessary
