    Stuff going on:

    @Tri3Dr Did you just turned the filter overdrive up a bit? OK, you can also do it with the Blo, but it would distort (nicely although) almost from the start, in the Nova the overdrive adds pure warmth and thickness (considerably) in first place (it seems to just enlarge, oversize the sound) and then it starts to distort at some point. And it has a quite nice double saw algorithm.
    Just my opinion.

  • @javiceres
    @javiceres 12 років тому +1

    @drtritri It's also a matter of knowing it.
    I had the Nova IIX and now I have the Q (wich sounds great from the ground= Initialize a sound, sweep the filter and you can really FEEL the sound) and the Blofeld. First thing I'd do with Blo is turn off all the FX and then reduce the Amp Velocity to make it sound much louder without having to press the keys like there was no tomorrow. Also work with the OSC Brillance.

    @lemsta007 I had a micro Q and thought this would be the one and bought the desktop version. I like it but I recall the microQ sounding kinda more powerful and thicker, now I wonder if it's just nostalgia... or may be the Q would be it for me. I never got it because is so expensive the makes me feel guilty paying that for a digital synth, when you can have an old Virus, Blofeld... etc for so much less.
    Have anyone compared the Q and blofelnde?

  • @S4V0LAEN3N
    @S4V0LAEN3N 13 років тому

    What comes to Blofelds sound it has crispy and thick sound when needed, can be sweet and very smooth as well. It also has vast amount of parameters compared to Nova. Or even microQ.

    @javiceres I must add that I've just get a Novation Nova and it just sounds so loud that gives you a certain impression of superiority over the blofeld, and that kind of crashes my dream of the Blo being the perfect synth.
    I thought it would be a super-microQ but it actually sounds different.

    Yes, like i said: i have had both and there is no sense to talk about Nova in same day as any of this Waldorfs that has been discussed.
    At the moment i have Blofeld, XT and Q. And i have to take some words back. Though Blofeld has more wavetables and some other parameters that Q or XT does not have, those older knobby machines have "that something" that Blofeld lacks.
    It might be also that it's Blofeld that has some kind of annoying factor in its typical sound characteristics.

  • @javiceres
    @javiceres 13 років тому

    @Tri3Dr Well I really like the Blo, but the amount of parameters is almost identical to the microQ. It has more clipping/overdrive curves and wavetables for sure, it also has the samples and the really nice brillance parameter for the oscillators, but it hasn't ring modulator as effect and VoCoder, both of them useable with the external audio inputs... and the reverb has less parameters ; ) although it sounds less artificial (I liked that artificial reverb for some over the top fx though).

  • @javiceres
    @javiceres 13 років тому

    @Tri3Dr I just said:
    " I like it but I recall the microQ sounding kinda more powerful and thicker" I didn't said better, besides specs aren't necessary what makes one instrument superior to another.

    And what comes to Waldorfs.. you were disappointed about Blofeld even if you compared it to microQ?! Say whaat?
    Blofeld is SUPERIOR to that. It's more like all previous Waldorf combined together plus even more. :D
    It's microwave + Q + XT and having some extra capabilities like different wavetables at the same time. Plus option to load 60MB of samples to it (if licence is bought).
    It's BTW also first time when Waldorfs wavetable synth has decent effects on board.. . .

    There's nothing more pretentious than your, seriously in need of therapy, comment. Just close your eyes and LISTEN! Isn't that what music is all about? This demo shows what people can do with a synth if they have the patience to take the time to develope their abilities and talent to master the controls. BTW, those passionate hand movements are what we normal people call FLAIR and SHOWMANSHIP.
