    Jexus has the best synth demos ever because he shows the extreme capabilities of every synth. From sweet and calm pads to the absolute destructive chaos, and everything in between, whilst avoiding all the common, easily duplicated, traditional synth sounds. I'm not ashamed to admit this is why I've impulse purchased so many synths. Because his demos are that good.

    Yes. There is a function in the menu that you can set to make them run in tandem. Now, I've never tried this but I know that it was designed for that. What I don't know and really want to is if running 2 MS2000's means you can have up to 6 mod sequences going at the same time, 2 arpeggiators and up to 4 multi-timbrality. I'm currently looking to buy a second one because it fits in perfectly with the what my band is doing.

    nord lead 2x vs korg ms 2000 who wins?
    I had both. Totally different sounding synths. MS2000 has this wide cut at mid frequencies and sounds very soft, quite oldschool. In terms of color it reminds me of Roland Alpha Juno. It's difficult to make it sound bad. The sequencer is pure joy!
    Nord Lead 2x has a cutting, bright, buzzy sound and you really need to use 2 voice unison to get the fatness of MS2000. It's more clinical sounding thand MS. Nord is more punchy, though. MS has this smear over the sound and if you want to get it close to Nord sound you have to use a good exciter. MS has more waveforms to offer and is much more flexible and you can coax greater variety of sounds with it. Nord has good FM and morphing, though. Filters are weak points of both synths as they both thin the sound considerably when you boost the resonance, although MS2000 filter exhibits some character while doing this and Nord's filter simply sounds thin and imparts a slightly metallic, sparkly quality to the sound which is actually nice for polysynth lead sounds, but for basses or fat fitersweeped pads? Forget it. You have to use LP+Notch for those in order to retain the low end. I first had the Nord, then a few years later I bought the MS2000. When I got it and started tweaking it I said to myself: Oh, why didn't I buy this one in the very beginning of my synth career? I'd spare some headaches :) I regret selling the MS. Might buy one again. It's a very, very, very useful synth.

    @charliecromo no prob you're welcome. also lfo 1 is assigned to controller 2 of oscillator one. and lfo 2 is assigned to the mod wheel. but if you google it you can also assign the mod wheel to midi 2 of the virtual patch giving it more options. sorry they don't allow links here. and lfo 2 has a sign wave and lfo 1 has a triangle. the only difference of waves between them.

    @boisbrut The MS2K sounds like this no matter what if you're running the synth only. If you didn't know this synth was designed to emulate older analog synths while maintaining easy programming. The only way you can get this to sound more modern is by using post effects and doubling it up to the rack unit version for more polyphony and oscillators.

    @jeanfatale you're definitely right. maybe one of the virtual patches is to cutoff and another virtual patch is to one of the eg's. that would explain for the delay. but an lfo would be suspect by what he modulated it from. hence the weirdness. mod one lfo to pitch and second cutoff to eg 1 or 2 i'm guessing but no one can truly learn by themselves.

    can someone tell me how you would go about creating your own sounds on a synth like this. If one were to reset all presets and start from the ground up. And where would they be saved? Thanks. great video by the way,love it.

  • @Casbah15
    @Casbah15 11 років тому

    Do you own all of these synths or do you own a music store and just use them to make the vidoes?

  • @alanator6333
    @alanator6333 13 років тому +3

    @LittleNegrillio who cares how many presets something has... learn how to build a patch from the ground up so you can make your own ORIGINAL music! With the exception of maybe 5-10 patches, I rewrite just about everything that comes stock on a synth. The presets in my mind are just to give you an idea of the variety of sounds it can produce, not what you should use to make music.

    Do you think the microkorg can do any of this? It is said that the microkorg has the same sounds as this but after watching these vids I have serious doubts

  • @marianobalestena4661
    @marianobalestena4661 11 років тому

    I've never played the MS2000 but I patched a RADIAS a couple of times. You would probably set the basic sound with the oscillators (the starting basic sound), filters, envelopes (how does the sound behaves in time, fading in or starting fast, etc) and then you would apply effects and modulation with LFO's and envelopes to different parameters. In this synth, you could have two of those sounds layered up, but you would have less polyphony. They would be stored in the synth's internal memory :)

  • @666laughingtarget

    @lvrsnvy This synth (when it came out) was competing with the Nord lead and the JP 8000..virtual analog was pretty new at the time and this was a lot more affordable....you could buy one of these and a rack version, link them together and still be less than a Nord lead....I think these guys are going for $500-$800 on ebay now...well worth it. Mini Moog has One voice Polyphony...and you can still do a lot with that...oh yes.

    @Synthesized13 the korgms2000b is my first synth, i just did my homework. a or b it was just cheaper at the time. i also was bidding on the ion. not too long ago. but i'll say my p.o.v. esq 1 great. people have a hard time with fm synthesis. trial and error if you want the work. $200 w/o shipping with new battery tops. you just wait if you lose a bid. cold sounding but i like it. more expensive is akai ax 80 but more for the noisier faction and i'm a sucker for flashing things. ms2000. people

  • @666laughingtarget
    @666laughingtarget 13 років тому

    @charliecromo low frequency oscillators. they produce no sound but rather modify the sound. if you patch one to the amplitude then the whole sound woobles. yes on one lfo there is a sine. and yes you can make it wooble from as slow as a rollercoaster to as fast as zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and everything in between. this is good at bass not the best. at the lowest you have to tinker but you can find something nice without aliasing. even goes so low it's hard to hear. but really a fun synth.

    @culturaleyes Indeed as said by alterstate the microkorg has the same sound engine as the MS2000(B) but less (allmost none) on the fly knobs to tweak. On the secondhandmarket the micro changes owner for 100 Euro less then the MS2000. Better to save up that extra bit.
