    Wow...this is great to know. I have just started raising chickens n ducks in my small backyard space. There's no grass. Have plants in pots.
    I have 13 ducklings, 7 hens, 1 roaster and 10 baby chicks. I will surely do this as a nutritional source for them.
    Thank you. 😁🙏🇹🇹

    This is exactly the type of video I was looking for. I want to start sprouting for my flock. They've recently started laying again after several months of 'vacation' and I want to give them something special. Thank you for this. Also you have some pretty chickens. wow, I have those exact same plastic baskets, from the Dollar Tree, like a fake wicker design. They came with lids, and I cut out most of one lid, left the frame + so I can double stack the baskets, works great!! I have found they sprout faster in the dark, as though they were under soil, also the first two times rinsing, will put them in a large bowl covered in water, so the husks that fall off float to the top and you can discard them, and remember, lentils are VERY high in lectin, a dangerous protein for humans, and sprouting them makes them much healthier!

    My issues with this was the smell. After rinsing, I would place them on a towel to drip dry (and this may be my own fault), but after a few days the smell was a bit sketchy. I then tried doing this, but left the bin outside, but I believe it is way too hot for them to be outside right now, so they died.

    Having much success with your sprouting method. Thank you for the video! I am also sprouting field peas the same way. QUESTION: are you able to move this process outside? Do you need a certain temp to sprout?

    • @lifewiththewalkers2797
      @lifewiththewalkers2797  Рік тому +1

      I would think that temperatures not too cold would be fine outdoors. But most seeds need some form of heat to help them sprout. Just make sure they’re not in an area that would get rained on. I know here we have been having some heavy thunderstorms and that would not be good for the sprouts.

    My girls love sprouted lentils, and I am going to look for a basket like yours. I use jars, but they crowd the jar before the greens really come in. That said… I’m hoping the amount of mud and water your girls are in isn’t a frequent or long lasting issue?
