Thanks in a million! Very well explained. This is the nth time that I am watching this again. Great content. Awesome. I couldn't find this explanation--simply put anywhere else. “Great teachers are hard to find”. Grade: A++ 💥
Hello Dave! Thank you for your clear video! I have a question: as you already mentioned it should be possible to switch to a tablet view. Can you maybe descripe how to fix this since my app is forsing me into a phone view. Thanks for your help!
Hi Dave, Thank you for posting this tutorial! I am having trouble following the steps and hoping that you can help me. When I click on "New App" on the PowerApps visual in Power BI, when Power Apps open in browser it says "this form isn't connected to any data yet". I have tried to connect it to Power BI but I am not having any luck. Any ideas?
Hi Dave - really appreciate the video. Challenge I had in my example was just using Excel file on One Drive and using web connector. It works partially but the CRUD parts of PowerApps are somewhat a hit and miss..I also later on discovered an 8 Refresh per day on a dataset which could explain some of my complications. Irrelevant -- wanted to thank you for your time to put such a helpful video together.
Hi Dave, Thanks for the great video. Just want to understand does that power app data changes update the data in Sql database aswell? if I am using sql database. Thanks
Hi Dave, A great video; clear instructions which all worked like a dream until I tred to share the Power BI Report with other people. I found that when the report was pinned to a Dashboard and shared, the PowerApp was no longer able to write back to the database. I have no problem reading data but can not update values from the Report in the Dashboard. I do not get any error message from the App running from the Report in the Dashboard, but I can see that the values are not being updated. Do you know if there are any known behaviour differences between PowerApp embedded in Reports verses PowerApps embedded in Reports pinned to a Dashboard? Andrew
Hi Dave, do you know that there are any limitations when using the Sharepoint data source? When applying the value of the Gallery (eg Gallery1.Selected) to the Item field in the EditForm, a red X appears, and when examining the error it appears: "Invalid formula. Expected value compatible with "DataSource ". In my case the DataSource actual is a Sharepoint Online list.
Hi Dave - Another great video. I have around 5 production apps setup like this and one thing that frustrates me is you cannot create a "Tablet" app only mobile. Is there a work around to have Tablet that includes the "Refresh" option after data is committed?
Hi Michael, thank you for the feedback! There are two things to try; a) Change the size and responsive settings of the app: ua-cam.com/video/6QO_4A2WUnk/v-deo.html. I have done this in PowerBI and it works great! OR b) Change the layout of the app as discuss in this video by a great gentlemen named Todd Baginski: ua-cam.com/video/Bb_8koHvzw0/v-deo.html
Thanks for the video, very interesting and useful! But what if I want to write over a SharePoint List and not a SQL Server? I don't need the live data refresh but I need the App to be filtered by the PowerBi visuals... I seem to be able to do one thing at a time... If I can write successfully the visual doesn't get filtered; If I manage to get it filtered it will not be able to write...
Hi Dave.. I tried following the video .. but The edit box doesn’t allow me to add new values when i click on Edit Icon nothing changes. Control type for fields is only”View”. I don’t see “Edit” in control type. Any insight on this please?
Hi, I have created report in Power BI Desktop by using excel spreadsheets and publish on portal as well. But when follow your steps I won't able able to add the fields into Power Apps even systems shows the connectivity of Power BI, even thou I can't add fields as you did like drag and drop. Please allow me to know how would I can do that if data source of Power BI report is Excel sheets.
Hi Dave, thanks a lot for the video. One thing I'm struggling to understand is this - why would I go through all this hassle, if I can simply update my original Excel file and update a PBI report?
Hello Nikolai. Great question, nothing prevents you from doing that, although for some solutions it might be useful to update directly from the report. Think of certain alerts for a production system, where you might want to update data directly from the report, instead of having to search for the specific data in Excel, SharePoint or SQL.
Hey Dave, great tutorial and I've managed to integrate very well. What I can't figure out: once I've created the app and all is working, how to add fields in a later stage? In my example, I've added two extra fields to the visual in PBI, refreshed and published the report. When I then edit the Powerapps, these extra two fields don't appear in the PowerBIIntegration.Data set of fields. Thanks to advise

Thank you so much Claude, much appreciated. I have a list of videos I can't wait to get to!!

Hello Sumit, Yes, absolutely it will update SQL as well.

Hi Arif, as far as I am aware you should also be able to use Excel as a data source to display data.

Is it necessary to purchase license inorder to access to app powerbi
Yes, you would need a PowerApps Pro license. For PowerApps, you just need an Office 365 entitlement.
