Hiwatt fanboy here. I have a handwired Custom 7 and Custom 20 from around the same period I believe. Phenomenal amps. The Custom 7 needed a bit of tweaking and my amp tech contacted Hiwatt for technical information. What he got back was a hand drawn schematic. Apparently at the time these were developed Hiwatt ownership was in a bit of flux and product development was a little shall we say haphazard? However, that period produced some incredibly interesting amps which I believe incudes the one you’re demoing. The rock tones that thing is producing are utterly stunning and sound like my dream amp. Thanks for putting this one up!
How great is this, I have an UK made HiWatt Hi Gain 100 head with reverb that was on stage at the Montreal Jazz fest , been in the shop a few times but completely rocks, thanks for posting!
Having seen this I have immediately bought your capture. Very impressive amp, can’t wait to use the capture in anger - possibly with a big grin on my face 😊
That black strat sure is a looker, and sounds great, well any guitar does in your hands paul imho. Great vid Paul and james ,I will be going straight to the Tonex captures right now....Thankyou Studio rats! :)
i wish i'd find these sorts of things at auction, cool find 🙌 while not your classic Hiwatt, it has that character, i used to own a '76 custom 100 , incredibly loud but lovely tones
it's a pure rock 'n' roll machine. played by Jimmy Page and Alex Lifeson as well. Ritchie Blackmore. controversial, but I thought Page's tone was better with Hiwatt. or maybe it's just he was relying on his Colombian remedies a little bit less early on. Hiwatt is also the reason why Pete Townshend has lost most of his hearing.
Hi I have not received any emails regarding this. The pack automatically is sent when payment is made. If you can email with your invoice number I can look into it.
The early 2000’s or whatever they were sold under many names, basically a Randall transistor amp. hiwatt Maxwatt or something, funny thing is that those Randall’s had a super good clean channel that sounded really good when cranked and took pedals well. Ended up using one of those instead of my Jmp100 watt cause that one well, loud.
Sounding great guys! We'll have to get you some of our current build gear 🙌
Everything you touch sounds like magic.

Nice!
The sound of early Brian Adam's records. Keith Scott was using them because they had master volumes before Marshall did.

cheers fella
Awesome video have a great weekend Paul ❤😊
That can definitely do modern high gain.
There are too many amps today, but only a few of them are still relevant for nice gainy tones: Friedman, Ceriatone, Suhr, Toneking.
'It's really sustainy". Cue the cut scene to Spinal Tap & the still sustaining Les Paul which you weren't really allowed to look at😂.

Love it. What a great platform amp.
Rippin Amp ! Love it
When you First went to High Gain From Clean It made me think of Early Pete Townshend
the face after the slip up was jokes ngl
Gorgeous
Hiwat and Vox amps have never been a favorite of mine. However, they are responsible for more hits than you could imagine.
Homage or butchery 😂 You're a right pair 😂
I own and use a 1975 DR-504 head. Signed on chassis by technician E Walton, and Dave Reeves. serial 10452. It will be buried with me.
Includes the pack amp and cabs?
See how close you can get to it with the Katana.

How much is a bargain for one of those?
Something different , but what frets do you have on the black Strat with maple neck.
I bought a tonex preset from your site but I haven’t received it? I also emailed x2 with no reply.

Does anyone know how good the new Hiwatt solid state heads are? They've also just released solid state combo amps.
