Please do more bobbin lace tutorials! These videos are really useful for me as a total beginner but also because watching them is really calming and helps me manage anxiety attacks!
Really awesome tutorial, with nice story times... After a rather long time I was able to do this pattern. Thrilled! The wonders of working the lace threads came clear. Thanks to you and your kind explanations, I finally understand and now have an ever growing enthousiasm. And I certainly agree about winding the bobbins 😁
Thank you! I'm a knitter who is fascinated with lace. I just started bobbing through your videos. I am very grateful. About your thread skein, you need to have someone hold the skein un-twisted between both hands while you wind a ball. Working off a skein is unbelievably tasking. A lesson we all learn from just once. Thank you again!!!! -I love seeing both views- bobbins, and thread.
I really enjoy your tutorials. Don't stop talking, in depth tutorials without chatting are so hard to follow, mainly because my mind starts wandering. It's really helpful when you show examples by laying them on a neutral background, the lace is so fine that it's hard to see with a busy background. Even your hands can be distracting.
First learned bobbin lace 35years ago and always found it very relaxing to do. Family life & work did not give me enough time to keep up this hobby. I am now at the stage in my life when things need to be slowing down a bit and stumbled across your video. With great excitement I retrieved my lacemaking supplies out of the attic and today I have made this bookmark. I could not have done it without your help and I thank you for that. I have enjoyed every moment, which of course included correcting my mistakes. I have made this for my daughter with love in every twist and who now wants me to teach her the craft. Thank you so much and I am looking forward to learning more with you in the near future.
I appreciate that you talk through your videos and showing where the bobbins need to be after each section. I've really learned alot by watching your videos!
I am a beginner at bobbin lace. I just happened to see one of your videos and just knew I had to learn how to do bobbin lace. You inspired me. Out of all the videos I have watched yours is the best. I am a quilter and quilt designer. Thank you so much for your bobbin lace videos and I hope you make more, you explain everything so well. Thank you from Cedar City Utah
Thank you! I've watched a few of your videos and started my first bookmark yesterday! Made a mistake along the way, but it was consistent so I'm leaving it, as it looks like a planned pattern. You were a big help, I appreciate that.
thank you so much for coming back with the bobbin lace tutorials! its so hartd to find any tutorials on bobbin lace regardless, let alone one for beginners and i really want to get into the craft
I've always been curious about bobbin lace, and now your videos make it seem much easier than it looks in real life with little old ladies (bless their hearts, I love them) with about a million bobbins filling up their entire 20" disc bolster. I'm seriously thinking about teaching myself using clothespins and a makeshift bolster, and instructions online (like your videos). If you ever decide to pick up bobbin lace again I would LOVE to see more videos of it! Either way, I hope you're having a good time and surviving this pandemic!
Thank you for this video, particularly how to finish off the bookmark neatly - that's something I wasn't taught when I learned as a child and haven't been able to find so far anywhere else (I suppose it could be snuck away in some fine print in my huge stash of patterns that I haven't properly looked through yet, but I have skimmed through most of them and didn't see this technique). I'm so pleased to have a neat and secure way of finishing it off, rather than leaving them all as a fringe or gathering all the threads and just tying them off together!
Thank you for the video and the time you spend making them. I really enjoy them. I am a beginner. I really like the split screen. I watched the first time watching the bobbins moving and the second time watching up close. I can’t wait for you to make the video of you making the mat. Please show every single step. God bless.
Lorna Burgess You’re very welcome. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I think I may do another bookmark or two first but I will try and do the mat. I’m glad you liked the split screen. Take care.
Hello! Thank you so much for coming back and for the improved camera positioning - it is really helpful! I'm really looking forward to your next videos - especially the medallion. I'm coming back to this after a long (19 year!) hiatus, so your pacing and projects have been a big help in relearning my skills.
Your video is sooo enjoyable to watch and listen to you! Thank you this is relaxing and educational. I am a beginner personally I like the talking by the way.
Glad you're back to doing lace. I have just recently found bobbin lace and really need you to talk and explain what you're doing. I enjoy your stories as well. :-) Please keep bringing us more tutorials. Thanks.
I love that you’re able to just take bobbin lace up again so quickly, I still do use the colored beads to make my pairs are still lined up. When I see things don’t line up right, I find where my bobbins don’t match and undo the work until the separated pair are together. But, hey, I’m still pretty much a beginner. 😎
This is so helpful. I was able to work alongside of you even though I am a beginner, it was so exciting! Also, I enjoy your chat and the music was lovely as well. Thank you again!
Thank you so much. I just noticed your channel a weak ago, and now I have gone over all three of your bobbin lace videos! You and your work are both amazing
Elizabeth Adams Yay!! That’s awesome! I’ve been working on a new bobbin lace video this past week. Should have it up this weekend. It’s a little square mat. Congratulations on your first project!!
Two ways to hang bobbins: side by side used often for passive threads, these separate or rainbow, which will hold together. Check your Practical Skills Book. You may have accidentally started your previous bookmark by using side by side on your beginning so you have the separation. Enjoyed your video.
Hi, thank you for the great tutorials! I am a complete beginner, and this is my first attempt at bobbin lace. I've been able to follow along until you got to the weaving part of the top section. Would it be possible for a little more detail on how your doing the weave? Thanks for any help I really appreciate any help. Thanks 😊

Have you got any advice for bobbin lace on a budget/with very little space? Also does it cause you any pain after you’ve been working on something for a while? I’m a little concerned about arthritis.
What would the suggested weight of the thread be, does anyone know? I couldn't find anything specific, but I mightve missed something. I have #40 thread from Lizbeth, would that work?

Janet! If you havent figured it out yet, beads can be used with bobbin lace! One way my tutor has done this is by stringing beads directly onto her thread and then winding it. I didnt get to see her use it though, so I have some questions still! Lol
@@barkingsheep5224 I know with needle tatting, we put the beads on the thread and the pull a bead up to place it when we are ready, I imagine it would be the same with bobbin lace. OMG, yes I can mute this but the whole point is that the audio is SUPPOSE to HELP in instructing us in how to do this and then she will go into instructions and then go back in how she doesn't have a genine pig anymore!!! How am I suppose to know when to UNMUTE???, as interesting as this is, I couldn't stand her talking anymore and had to stop watching :( I wish people would understand SILENCE is not a crime, when it has NOTHING to do with your video, STOP TALKING!!!! That way people won't get tired and annoyed by your video and stop watching.
Vikki L. Y. Hi. Sorry my video upset you so much. Take care.
