    An absolutely wonderful garden railway, it must have taken years to complete it! I simply love the way that the vegetation is so beautifully manicured, which must take hours and hours of your time. A happy 15 minutes spent watching...

    • @Landsend-Railroad
      @Landsend-Railroad  Місяць тому +4

      You have hit on a major point, the vegetation is a big factor when it comes to maintenance. The constant pruning and of course fighting the weeds keeps me busy. Thanks for your kind comment..

    Terrific work. The scaling is perfect. If the people in the stations hadn't been absolutely still, I would've through this was a real train ride.

      Yes, if only I could make the people move. Some hobbyists have tried, but they always look too mechanized. I appeciate your comment very much. Thank you.

    Amazing additions and great work on the rebuild after the "critters" took out your bridge over the pond. As always, congratulations on one of the best layouts in the hobby of G-Gauge garden trains. Thank you for the video share .

      Peter, your comment is much appreciated and thanks to your unwaivering support. Yes, it is too bad that the truss bridge over the pond had to go. The racoons just would not leave it alone. At least two of the spans found a new home in my rebuild.

    • @Landsend-Railroad

      Sorry, but I have no plans to build anything stronger. It would have to be made of welded steel and I do not have any facility to do that. @@HobbyMoose79 It was very nice of you to respond. I wish you good luck and a lot of enjoyment with the third and possibly last layout. I could not bring myself to putting it all on stilts. For me it is very important to work on the ground to get that sence of realism and to work with real plants in the soil. Not sure how long I can keep it up, I am nearly 90. Your point about the pricing these days is well taken. The industry is going for more and more expensive details, often to the point were handling the rolling stock is causing things to break off. I am just glad I bought much my stuff while the going was not quite as rough.

    • @Landsend-Railroad
      @Landsend-Railroad  20 днів тому

      I am using a Canon movie camera, model G-40. It is bulky but makes it through the existing track profile. I use the wide angle setting to keep the track in sight when rounding a bend. I have just purchased a GoPro camera, still need to get use to it. My next videos will be putting it to use. The definition is higher, many of the other implications I am not sure of yet.

    • @Landsend-Railroad
      @Landsend-Railroad  Місяць тому

      There used to be over 200 lamps and it looked quite tractive in the evening. However I found that in the summer it gets dark so late that I don't get to enloy the lit scene. In the fall, winter and sping the weather is often unfriendly and I rather not be out there. It just is not worth the maintenance to keep the lights working. I have to admit, I do not have a great light display left. Sorry.

    Toto se nedá ani komentovat, to je krása, preciznost, umění. Neskutečné v takovém rozsahu. Člověk po několika minutách ztrácí přehled co je realita a co model. Fakt famózní, fantastické:) Jen taková otázka: máte spočítané kolik je tam kilometrů kolejí? A stala se Vám tam i nějaká nehoda? Hodně štěstí, splnil se Vám sen:)

      Najpierw pozwól mi podziękować za bardzo zachęcające słowa. Pytasz, ile torów położyłem. Muszę cię rozczarować. Jest ich tylko około 500 metrów. Jak na kolejkę ogrodową, to już dużo. Czy zdarzają mi się wypadki? Tak, ale głównie wtedy, gdy rozmawiam z gośćmi i nie zwracam uwagi.

      Thank you for the words of encouragement. Yes, it is a lot of work to maintain a layout this size. It does snow sometimes here on the Westcoast of Canada. In fact I have made a video running my battery- operated snowplow locomotive. Unfortunately the snow is mosty quite wet, plowing is a sticky affair as you will see in the video. ua-cam.com/video/AnC_v-aqzyE/v-deo.html

      The time of construction? It is hard to say. The basic layout took about two years. Many extensions happened during the last 19 years. Thanks for your interest.

    😊😊 Another great video... I seen some things I haven't seen before... I love the ending it was different....
    I do have a question if you can find the time to answer... on the cab ride for the new extension from 4 years ago where it makes the turn around right past the 17 ft trestle,,, on the tree to the right it has a round black object mounted on the tree is this a Wi-Fi camera... if not I would be curious to know what it is I have been wondering about this for 4 years.... 😮❤😂

    • @Landsend-Railroad
      @Landsend-Railroad  Місяць тому

      I love to read comments like yours. However, you have me puzzled over one of your remarks. In what way is the ending different?
      And I looked at the video several times in detail and could not find a round, black object mounted on a tree. In any case it is not a Wi-Fi camera. Anything electronic kept outdoor is bound to fail sooner or later. Moisture is the enemy. It is not the rain, it's condensation.

    • @Landsend-Railroad
      @Landsend-Railroad  Місяць тому

      I finally had a look at the old video. You are very observant. That little black object on the tree trunk is the top cover of a common spray can with a toggle switch mounted in the middle of the flat bottom. I can switch the power on and off to one of the two parallel tracks immediately following. Thus I can use one track as a siding or parking track. What I said earlier about electronics outdoors still goes. This switch is weatherproof.
      Hope that answers you question. Sorry for taking so long.
      Cheers.

    • @Landsend-Railroad
      @Landsend-Railroad  Місяць тому

      Not all trains stop at all stations. Such is the case with real trains. But if you like to see the train stop at smaller stations go to another video of mine: ua-cam.com/video/e4VxvdRbTlY/v-deo.html Here you will see the train stop at some stations. I have found that viewers will quit when nothing is moving and a very short stop is unrealistic an any case. There is a practical reason too. I can not keep the camera car in sight at all times, because I do not want to end up in the picture, and an improper stop is worse then none at all. Thanks for thinking it is impressive in spite of the short coming.

    • @Landsend-Railroad

      I started working on this layout in 2002. The first train ran in 2024. In the beginning there was only the central core about 200 meters of track, many of the features were added later. The track has more then doubled since. The last construction took place this year. Thanks for your interest, I appreciate it.
