Before the incarnation of the 2nd person of the Godhead, was he the Son of God or the Word of God/Angel of the Lord? Because if He was the Son of God before His incarnation, doesn’t that mean there was a point in His existence that He was not since a son cannot exist before or at the same time of a father?
The Son is also the Logos and his Sonship is not biological it’s relational. God the Son is co-eternal, and co-existent with the Father and the Holy Spirit. There’s never was a time when he was not as he is without beginning or end. Arius actually taught that there was a time when the Son didn’t exist which is a heresy. John 1 didnt say “in the beginning was the Son” but instead it said “in the beginning was the Word” or the Logos who became flesh. Hebrews 1:5 which echoes the prophesies in the Psalms 2:7 and 2 Samuel 7:14, both pointing to the fulfillment of the Logos who became flesh. I don’t get into a lot of debt about Trinity, but some things could be understood by being explained in a carnal way. For instance, I put my sperm in my wife, my sperm came from me, my sperm is me, and I put it in my wife and my wife wraps my sperm which is me in flesh. My wife then births me out and because I have been birthed I automatically becomes a son and everyone that has a son has a father which is me. My son is me/sperm. Just as God put his Spirit in Mary and Mary wrapped God in flesh and God became a son because he was born and God became father because he has a son. God made titles of himself Isaiah 9:6 King James Version 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Damon could take those same scriptures he used... and challenge Trinity.... But in the end... it's not the formula that needs to challenged.... it's the concept of God that goes with it... We need to understand that God is a covenant-keeping God.... that needs to be understood.
I believe the Trinity is biblical, but I have to admit, that you, as well as other Trinitarian apologists, can at times describe the Trinity in such a way to where it sounds tritheistic (three separate Gods). You need to stress more the complex unity/tri-unity of God, that is one being. Someone will come away thinking, based on this brief presentation, that the Bible teaches that God is comprised of three separate beings that are called the one God. And that the three separate beings are the one God, because the Bible says so. Be careful, in that you don't allow your devotion to technical language, to be a stumbling block to how someone may potentially conceive the very nature of God.
I'm not intending to sound snide or hateful. I beg you pardon, in advance if this is perceived that way. Trinitarians DO explain the trinity exactly as a tritheism. I read many of the trinitarian creeds and how they were theorized in their councils (especially the Nicean council). This fellow, like so many other trinitarians, is just explaining exactly what the creeds say. In essence, I believe the trinitarin dogma is tritheism masquerading as monotheism. One example is the distinction and separation of Father, son and Holy Ghost. The theory states that neither "person" is the other one. That means the Father cannot be the father of Jesus. The received text and English translation we all read from clearly tell us that it was the Holy Ghost (that Jesus would later send to us) actually impregnated Mary. It says that explicitly and without ambiguity in Matt 1:18-21 and Luke 1:30-35. Let me restate in different terms but say the same thing. The 3rd person of the trinity impregnated Mary with the 2nd person of the trinity without any intervention of the 1st person of the trinity. For that reason, among many others, the trinity is a no go for me. Don't get me started on symbolic/metaphorical son of God that the trinity doctrine accidentally makes Jesus.
@@terryjones1718 In order to be genuine you must acknowledge the places in scripture that account for the distinctness within the Godhead. Also, no trinitarian teaches tritheism. Just because you come away with that understanding does not mean that is the correct interpretation. You are wrestling with the language found in scripture, which ironically is not man made. "Son of God"," Father", are all words used by Jesus and found in Scripture. The trinity is simply the logical conclusion after reading the Bible sincerely. Pray and ask for understanding, it makes a whole lot more sense than any other interpretation of God. The trinity solves problems not creates them.
@@OrdinaryVizionary Problem #1 The doctrine of the trinity states that Jesus is both eternal in and of himself (having no beginning) AND it also states that Jesus was begotten before all ages. The Muslim god is simple because he is man made and is also defined by his creation. Allah is neither loving or just for he has no real punishment for sins and allows whomever he wills into paradise. Respectfully, the religion copies from Christianity, trying to make Allah into the God of the Bible but in reality the two are nothing alike. Your innate sense of who God is, is flawed by thinking you can make sense of him. We know God based on how he has revealed himself to us and that is as the Bible shows, as Triune.
@@OrdinaryVizionary Instead of following the religion of Jesus (pbuh), Christians today follow the religion of Paul. A self admitted liar. Worship the God of Jesus as Muslims do.
