  • Tocumwal no longer sees regular passenger services, but every grain season the line comes alive with an abundance of freight heading south to Melbourne & beyond.
Here's some great vision of a recent departure of Pacific National G524 (3300HP) in the dark green and yellow, with BL29 (3300HP) in the blue and yellow.
The rail bridge at Tocumwal no longer moves up and down, after being sealed following it's centenary.

Actually, the centrespan can no longer be lifted - the mechanisms were sealed in place in 1995 after the bridge's centenary (when the life was raised, even though it wasn't meant to again after WW2)

Appreciate the info 👍 A shame, but I'm sure there were reasons behind it. I've updated the description to reflect.

Does that go to Oatlands as well, or only grain trains

Oaklands? The Oaklands grain runs via Yarrawonga on the North East Line. The Tocumwal Line just serves as a link to Shepparton these days, and then onto Melbourne.
