I worked at Tesla and for rivian now, and the reality is no vehicle is emissions free. EVs use substantial amounts of hydraulic & cooling fluids, and while the coolant is under vacuum pressure inside the vehicle it bleeds a good amount anytime it's serviced or opened. Since the coolant is mostly but not entirely water it's also eventually released into water ways similar to treated sewage. Rags are put into landfills same with regular trash and just for kicks it's not considered an environmental hazard for any automotive manufacturer to spill up to 3 gallons of hydraulic fluid. 3 and less it can legally go unreported. 4 or more ya gotta call EHS and make an EPA report :) of course these are only two of over a hundred different ways an EV in more cases more polluting than traditional engines
@TheCyberJet It is amazing how blind EV proponents are to the negative effects of them. Rare earth elements to make the battery, liquids inside the vehicle are only two of the risk of going full electric. Bring on the hydrogen engine, I’m optimistic on some of the literature I’ve read on them. Although I believe electric vehicles are great for city driving. I don’t believe they are a viable long term solution for all.

@@gregmitchell6062 - EVs are not perfect but neither are gas-powered vehicles. Overall, they are still less polluting than gas cars, including how they are made and how the energy is created to charge them. It doesn't have to be a lot less, per car, but when multiplied by the 70 million cars sold per year globally it makes a big impact. This impact is especially true when EVs are charged with solar or wind power.

Me too. I currently drive a Subaru Crosstrek and ever since the R1S debuted, I kept telling myself "a Rivian the size and price of a Crosstrek will be a game changer". Now I just have to wait 4 years :D
Brilliant. That kind of "let's go explore/find this thing on the map" adventure is why I love EVs, and especially ones like Rivian and Tesla which have VERY good maps & routing/trip planners, and (now) good charging infrastructure-
no fear about taking a spontaneous detour, side adventure, on a whim... see something on the map, in the world, and... "let's go find it!"... no worry about getting lost, etc.
oh, and no guilt either, since powered by sunshine, basically. And, the drive there is a joy too... fast & quiet & responsive!

Is this Tesla supercharger or Rivian's advertisement ?
They switched to NACs, and Tesla has the most Charing and Highest reliability. Rivian and Ford are now capable of using any v3 Tesla Supercharger so that options is a major selling point.
Accessible charging everywhere now!
Is there anything I can do to help get the R2 out sooner? I have a couple hours on the weekend I can volunteer on a manufacturing line. I need that vehicle in my life sooner. If I had the room for the ones out now I'd grab one.

Sorry to say, but lots of people are having issues charging on public EV chargers (not wall chargers). Rivian needs to provide very clear instructions on how to charge the R1 or R2. Can we just go and plug the EV charging cable into the R1, or do we need to do something before using public EV chargers? Many of my friends have started to hate it because every time they go to charge their EV, they're unable to, and they're scared to take long drives. There are no clear instructions; some people say you need to pre-warm up or something before plugging in the cable, etc.
That is why in this video they showed Tesla Supercharger and that is had a high reliability. 99.99% of instances with Tesla Superchargers do not have any issue. That was the point of this video. Since Rivian can now use v3 Superchargers.
I haven't had an ev for the last 11 years and have not had the issues you are referring to and I take long roadtrips. I now also have the R1T. It's called being an adult & figuring it out. Rivain has made plenty of videos as so have all the other ev car companies. Sorry to say that on you.
