I've been hyped for Astral Chain since its announcement for various reasons (especially Takahisa Taura's debut as a director), but I didn't expect I would fall in love with its music too: can't wait to play it next week.
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out: I'd even say it's my best mix so far (not considering the chiller stuff, which tends to be easier to work on, IME) and I think I'm slowly getting towards my ideal guitar tones. Overall, it's been a lot of fun working on this.

Hey, thanks! The soundtrack definitely seems worth checking out: judging from the few tracks released so far, I'd say it's an interesting mix between electronic music and prog-metal. Also, most tracks will have two versions of them (a quiet one for exploration and a rock/metal one for combat), dinamically transitioning to each other, so I'm really eager to see how they'll play out in game.

As someone who is experienced with lead guitar but has always struggled with sweep picking, is this the type of song that is doable if i'm still weak in that department? Could it be used as a training tool? I keep hearing some SMOOTH licks and runs all over this soundtrack
EDIT: if you made a tab or any written notation of this, It'd be incredible if you could point me to it

Hey! I'd say this is definitely doable without sweep picking (which I'm also pretty weak at, unfortunately). I guess the lead lick might be adapted for praticing mini-sweeps between two strings (and also string skipping, to a certain degree), although I usually just play it with classic alternate picking + hammer-ons/pull-offs.
I have a MIDI file of said lick, but it shouldn't take me too much effort to convert into a PowerTab file or something: I'll upload it asap.
