    Hello Ashley. It's great to witness "coach-player" interaction and how these tips are used in a professional practice. This is really a brilliant idea ! Thanks so much. Best wishes from Istanbul.

    Thank you for such great content!! Greetings from Nicaragua. Here, tennis is doing baby steps, this was the first year of Nicaragua being part of ITF. I’m 27 and starting my road to my first ITP point on the masters tours. I will try these tips on my practice right now.

    You touched on something I had not thought of. If his opponents tune in , and they will , this documenting of his game could end up being detrimental.
    Maybe you can through in a little subterfuge now and again.

      Absolutely… tennis comes first!! I like your plan 😁😉

      Good point, but to be honest, none of his coaching in this video is any special if you heard about other testimonies of other academy, what was taught here is very standard actually and also very high level and not getting into the actual technique nor form change. This video is released with the intention to teach the rec something but not revealing anything big to his opponent. And if I were felix and this is the level of coaching I got, i would be furious. :P

    • @keylargo5157
      @keylargo5157 Рік тому +1

      @@pencilcheck True , these were common techniques you could hear anywhere , but I would hate to hear his new coach talk about Felixes weaknesses at all , much less right before a match that he is about to play in. I’ll have to look back , but I thought I remembered him doing that. If this happens Felix can worry less about his serve and more about BEING served as his opponents next meal.

    I love these tips Ashley! High level play is all about spotting opportunities early and getting that first strike in the rally so you can finish on the next ball.
    But I also think it's critical to work on the serve plus 1 with the forehand and the 3rd shot finishing at the net if required so you can dominate on serve and hold serve more often and more easily. This is the most important play in pro tennis imo.
    I think the return plus one to neutralize or attack of the return is key too.
    The key is to focus on simple but devastating plays so you can stack the wafer thin margins of high level play in your favour.
    Keep the tips coming👍

    This is where I struggle to take my game up a level
    Reading the ball late and not recognising short balls sending them long or into the net.
    So frustrating but working on it 👍

      The best way to improve these skills is to play more matchplay against a wider variety of players. It takes time, but it will come!!

    G'day Ashley....just love these tips.. the best players in the world, or in a club, are more often in correct position to player their shots. They seem to play more shots with more accuracy and power.

    He still does quite a bit of take back after ball bounces, which is a little too late at his level.

    • @sergiosimbula
      @sergiosimbula Рік тому

      Is ATP number one in the world high enough level? One Marcelo Rios started his entire takeback after the bounce. But yes I do of course agree with you. Those are the crazy exceptions.

    He looks a bit better than that, but he’s an 11 UTR. That’s equivalent to a good D3 college player, but far from being a competitive ITF player. Going to take a lot of work.

    Hi Ashley, Can you post some matches of you competing. I'm really curious how your match play is. No judgement, I just like watching match play more than instruction. I think it's more interesting and I always root for players like yourself and Felix.

      I would really like to play more… I picked up competing again last year and loved it, but have been prioritising work recently so have not had time to play for myself. I’m sure Felix and I will play some practice points and sets soon… we may turn the camera on for you!
