Jurassic World: Dominion - Giganotosaurus Sound Effects

- From the Jurassic World: Dominion Prologue: • Jurassic World: Domini...
To create the sounds needed for the Giganotosaurus, Sound Designer Al Nelson and his colleagues recorded a variety of animals including mules, stallions and a lion called Daisy, who he discovered at the Conservators Center in North California. Alligator bellows were also used as the deep growling.
“We wanted something that had a different personality,” says Al Nelson. “We thought about what had already been used. We’d used pigs, we’d used elephants in the case of the T-Rex, we’d used big cats like tigers and lions, so what new flavours can we use that still make it sound dangerous? How can I come up with something that’s large and has dramatic vocalisation and can sound intimidating and unique?
“I decided I wanted to record big stallions. When a stallion is near a mare during mating season, they get crazy. When they’re arguing for territory or arguing for access to food or just anxious, they scream, they bellow, they make some very dangerous sounds. And they’re big animals so they produce a lot of air. They sound angry to me, but they might not be angry. I don’t know what the horse would tell you they’re feeling, but they definitely have personality.
Once the field sounds are captured by multiple recorders in different parts of the animal’s environment (in order to capture a diverse array of sounds), Nelson then begins mixing them at a sound desk - for the new film they added sounds to the stallion noises, including “an ancient female lion who did these raspy desperate bellows.”
Discussing his process across the Jurassic Park franchise, he adds: “It’s taking that stallion scream, and that lion ‘oof,’ and morphing that. Sometimes it’s [blending] one into the other, sometimes it’s one followed by the other. We generally pitch them down a bit; sometimes not, but we manipulate the pitch, and if we’re doing our job right it sounds like one unique voice.

They underused giga severally.
His design, though being terrible in terms of accuracy, is a solid monster design.
He screams edgelord.
Not to mention he was used in the creation of the Indominus Rex, why not implement parts of her into giga?
All and all, Giga was done way too dirty in this movie, needed more scenes to showcase his personality more.
I find it amusing that the people who give such loud headlines like "Jurassic Park continues to support us with outdated/incorrect/inaccurate information" or "What Jurassic Park/World got WRONG about dinosaurs" actually make the things worse to the readers since they almost never mention what Jurassic Park got *Right* since there's a plenty of nice stuff Jurassic series actually got right about the animals. And Giga is one of these cases. There're certainly some stylized and artistic liberties in it but in terms of paleoaccuracy he's actually way ahead most of the newer designs and - what I think is more important - the past incarnations of Giga in other paleo-media. And Yet people tend to call this thing almost something like "the most inaccurate dinosaur in the entire franchise" (seriously). While he indeed lacks his giga-chad chin I can definitely tell at least it looks like a carcharodontosauridae.
Well the first thing I personally thought of when I saw him in the prologue was something like "That thing is part of the Indominus for darn sure..."
That's a fair opinion you have there. When I finished the movie I had a feeling we didn't get enough of Giga but now I see he's like equal in terms of dramatic significance to the Spinosaurus in JP3. Spino was a recurring threat to the heroes with the mysterious backstory we never got to hear in the movie while Giga has his personal rivarly with Rexy and their own backstory but he doesn't interact with the heroes that much. So there's like a propotion)
But I'd still be lying if I told you that I don't want to see and hear more of the Giga.
Facts Giga got done dirty imo. It’s death was sorta lame and it was only used as another carnivore to one up Rexy which we’ve seen before like twice already. Idk why they couldn’t just give Rexy a win on her own. Colin makes it so that she needs help every single time lmao 🙄🤦♂️
@@veryberry_yt well she’s old asf so i mean, i’m sure the elderly would need a lil help fighting a younger creature who’s more active than them lmao

Giganotosaurus, The biggest carnivore the world has ever seen.
-Alan Grant
*Sad spino noises*
Giganotosaurus: You know I can see you, right? 🤨
It's super strange that the Giganotosaurus is the largest carnivore in the Jurassic Park Universe, when the Spinosaurus completely dwarfs the Giga.
Spino is much bigger than Giga, So who knows what Dr. Alan Grant was thinking?
Kayla was more specific saying “The largest known terrestrial carnivore” and it makes more sense since the Spino as we know today is semi-aquatic. Meanwhile Grant said “the biggest carnivore the world has ever seen” when we have the Mosasaurs in the same movie. Something fishy in this line obviously.
@@MrSserpent Right it's just...A lot of us fans are confused about this Statement.
@@BronyLord-wo1ym I’m aware this line can be as confusing as “All the dinosaurs are female except the Indoraptor”
@William The Lonely Wasp its gender is a mystery. Some sources say it's "he", some say it's "she". And it's probably not fully grown since it's hatched between 1997 and 2001 but it reached its adult full size since all of the InGen animals have exaggerated growth rate.
@@MrSserpent directors already confirmed twice that the Spino is a male
Even though the actual design of the dominion giga isn’t accurate at all, if you google its skeleton, it’s like the most accurate skeleton in the entire jp franchise.
…so it turns out to be accurate overall?

The sounds honestly aren't bad but aren't at all memorable. The JP Rex and Spino roars were so specific, you hear either and you immediately know it's a JP sound effect. The Gigantosaurus just sounds like generic monster noises.

The giganotosaurus is sick form neck or what?
I would just like to point out that this thing makes similar noises to the Indominus rex. Because this animal makes up Indo's gene pool which makes it quote-unquote "bigger than T. rex" despite that being factually incorrect. And the final battle has all the animals that are also part of said gene pool in the same area. This movie is very subtle and clever. 😑😒
Seriously, if it wasn't obvious which animals made the Indominus rex already, their features and cries will be a complete dead giveaway.
