Fun fact about the State houses, each state house is actually owned by that state, and is considered that States territory. That is why it is patrolled by the State troopers from that state.
I worked that show the whole time 12 hours a day and it rained a whole lot wrote a song, pretty cool back in 75 or 76 for my sister and brother-in-law selling jewelry thanks brought back some memories
My all time favorite event ever in Massachusetts! It's so much tons of fun/pure joy and happiness. Thank you so much for sharing! 🎢🎡🎠😊🤗😇 Wish they could stay forever!
The Big E is located in West Springfield MA. Located on the west side of the Connecticut River. Springfield is located on the east side of the Connecticut River.
The two 'major' fairs I've been to in my life: the Minnesota State Fair and the Meadowlands State Fair. Haven't done the former recently, but I absolutely *love* that one!
We have some similar fairs here in Pennsylvania. In July, we have the York State Fair. In September, we also have the Bloomsburg Fair. The latter didn't occur in 2011 due to flooding. The town of North East in Erie County holds a Cherry Festival in July as well. This supports the local fire department.
Wow I was never expecting to see a Big E review here. I went once in 2018 and loved it, spent all day. As someone not from New England I had no idea what to expect. I rode a dark ride there that had nothing on the inside whatsoever and was very confused. The pig race was also one of my favs.
Are the rides here provided by the same company as London, Ontario’s Western Fair? I recognize many of the rides at this fair, but some had different names, even though they were the same models with similar paint schemes. I went to the Western Fair this year and had a great time!
I was in the parade on Wednesday, and the day after I found out the attendance total was around 80,000 plus people. The midways rides were walk ons so I got all of the credits.
The big e is not in Springfield, it’s actually located in West Springfield. Vendors take cards these days. The local schools have free tickets but typically only for the day that falls in the city you live in (i.e. Springfield day, chicopee day, ludlow day).
Any tips on finding fairs and carnivals? Outside of the small annual one in my home suburb I'm not aware of ANY around me, and my searches online didn't turn up anything really. I'm surprised there's not some database (at least that I found).
Mousetrap- while debatable if it’s a coaster credit-is actually a rare credit in itself! - It’s a reskinned Pretzel traveling dark ride, Meaning that it’s at least 50 years old!
I remember as a local kid they used to have one of those looping Zyklon models. I was too scared to ride it. The year I finally felt ready it was gone. Probably not the worst outcome considering their reputation, haha.
I don't know how many "Delusion" rides there are in the U.S., but I ride the one at the Neshaminy Mall fair in the Philly 'burbs every year. I would assume it's the same ride, though I am not certain.
Yay, never caught a canobie coaster video this early with no comments. I live in Michigan and North American midway entertainment puts on the chealsea fair near me. There round up is super forceful and runs a long cycle. And the 1001 nacht is super fun but is jerky. I would love to know all the rides they have but they don’t have all on their website. Just like 5 flats. If you ever get to Michigan during the state fair I would recommend. The have what I believe to be a arm/Larson drop tower, a zipper zero gravity, alien abduction. A super fast orbiter and tilt a whirl and some other rides. They don’t have a coaster but the Livonia spree has I think a super cyclone
That sounds so much better than the Tulsa Fair, which is going on right now. Every year, it sounds like nobody has any fun at our Fair, and the prices are too high for the little that is offered. It's one of the more expensive fairs I've seen, with $25 parking, $15 admission, $45 ride wristbands. Yet, it's always packed, and the lines for rides are always insane, probably because it's our only option to get on rides for people who don't travel. Tulsa's Fair is why I haven't liked fairs, but I'm starting to notice that maybe ours is the only terrible one.
I just went back here for the first time in 5 years. Speed unfortunately isn’t at the fair this year for some reason, however I absolutely loved Delusion so that made up for it a bit.
Yep! There is sooooo much to offer. Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is similar. Not uncommon to see people wearing Mardi Gras beads + cowboy hats. Texas State Fair features "fried beer" Funny, people don't realize how popular these fairs are and they are held around the country. I'm a weekday guy when it comes to these. I like to "window shop" as well. Plus eat.
Skip the Maine potatoes and go instead to the potato/ bbq place on the left side of the Connecticut building. The baked potatoes there are superb! They use real bacon and each potato is nearly the size of a newborn. If you're trying to pair with SFNE or Lake Compounce, neither will be open on weekdays at the time of year the fair is running. You could even visit Quassy while you're in the area as it's not far. Truly, DO NOT GO ON A WEEKEND! unless there is a specific musical act you are seeing, weekends at the Big E are absolutely miserable. Get there at opening, do the buildings first as they get PACKED. Then spend your day outside or in the colosseum.
Its not located in Springfield at all. Its across from the City of Springfield Massachusetts, called West Springfield, Massachusetts! Get it right and do a little research! Not asking for much!
Fun fact about the State houses, each state house is actually owned by that state, and is considered that States territory. That is why it is patrolled by the State troopers from that state.
That's a cool fact!
You are also held to their state laws.
I worked that show the whole time 12 hours a day and it rained a whole lot wrote a song, pretty cool back in 75 or 76 for my sister and brother-in-law selling jewelry thanks brought back some memories
Huh! That’s pretty cool.
but not technically that states' territory
My all time favorite event ever in Massachusetts! It's so much tons of fun/pure joy and happiness. Thank you so much for sharing! 🎢🎡🎠😊🤗😇 Wish they could stay forever!
It's the beginning of fall for me.
Happy 19K!!!! Your an amazing UA-camr,
Thanks!
The Big E is located in West Springfield MA. Located on the west side of the Connecticut River. Springfield is located on the east side of the Connecticut River.
Thanks for clarifying. Didn't realize there was a difference.
The two 'major' fairs I've been to in my life: the Minnesota State Fair and the Meadowlands State Fair. Haven't done the former recently, but I absolutely *love* that one!
I did the Meadowlands one a few years ago. Decent midway.
It used to be so much better but since 2019 it’s not the same

Love fairs like this.

Their dark rides usually aren't that good.
Are the rides here provided by the same company as London, Ontario’s Western Fair? I recognize many of the rides at this fair, but some had different names, even though they were the same models with similar paint schemes. I went to the Western Fair this year and had a great time!
It's North American Midway
I was in the parade on Wednesday, and the day after I found out the attendance total was around 80,000 plus people. The midways rides were walk ons so I got all of the credits.
The rides got busier towards the end of the night on Wednesday, especially Speed.
@@CanobieCoaster around 12-1 when I got there there were walk ons and I didn’t see a line for speed, but around 3 it did get way more crowded.
The Big E isn't much about rides. Six Flags New England , about 5 miles down the road, in Agawam IS. lol
The big e is not in Springfield, it’s actually located in West Springfield. Vendors take cards these days. The local schools have free tickets but typically only for the day that falls in the city you live in (i.e. Springfield day, chicopee day, ludlow day).

i grew up going to the big e every year, such a core memory
I only started going after college and really like it.
I think you should have mentioned more rides like ring of fire
I didn't want to mention too many rides since the lineup can vary year to year.
You at least should have mentioned ring of fire
Great overall review
Thanks!
Will you also do The Deerfield Fair? It is going on now, and is the largest one in the state!
Not sure if I'll make it to that one.
Any tips on finding fairs and carnivals? Outside of the small annual one in my home suburb I'm not aware of ANY around me, and my searches online didn't turn up anything really. I'm surprised there's not some database (at least that I found).
Know the carnival suppliers in your area and watch their schedule. Or look where and when the state fairs are.
Mousetrap- while debatable if it’s a coaster credit-is actually a rare credit in itself! - It’s a reskinned Pretzel traveling dark ride, Meaning that it’s at least 50 years old!
I knew it was an oldie.
Amazing review, this is an event I'd visit for 2 days, not one.
Makes sense.
I remember as a local kid they used to have one of those looping Zyklon models. I was too scared to ride it. The year I finally felt ready it was gone. Probably not the worst outcome considering their reputation, haha.
This coaster is smooth.
Btw Its located in WEST springfield. Different town.
Thanks for clarifying.
West Springfield Massachusetts.
Ah ok, thanks!

Is it North American Midway?
@@CanobieCoaster I do not know; I don't think so, though.

The 1001 Nacht at the Big E is pretty weak. Wonder if you got a different one.
Maby. I was so jerky tho. I hit my head so hard on the metal bars from the restraints when it went down that I almost nocked myself out.

This fair is pricey too, but I think the quality is there at least.
I just went back here for the first time in 5 years. Speed unfortunately isn’t at the fair this year for some reason, however I absolutely loved Delusion so that made up for it a bit.
They sometimes switch rides up. Delusion, Mega Drop, and Zipper are the stars this year.
I want parks to install a Technical Park Pegasus
Me too.

That state fair sounds awesome too.
The Fair Is NOT in Springfield. It is in West Springfield.
Sorry, thought they were the same.
Holy crap, I don't even know what to say, this is like a European fair, might as well be an amusement park.
It's great for a US fair, but it's not quite on that level.
West Springfield dude
It’s a different city
Ah ok, thanks for clarifying.

I was stunned the CT potato was double the price. How much bigger is it?
I almost died on ring of fire I hate that ride
Great hangtime.

Sorry I thought they were part of the same city.
