Was about to leave my house but couldn’t find something to listen to for the drive. As I’m backing out of my driveway, this comes up and I slam on my breaks. Perfect timing Cone🙏🏻
Youngest first seed ever not only has another year of development, not only dropped the dead weight (Giddey and Hayward), but added two super high value role players. That's a recipe for a finals appearance if I've ever seen one, and if it's anyone but the Celtics, they should win. Even if it's the Celtics, I'd give them a puncher's chance
A punchers chance? Something I don’t think people are taking into account enough is just because you win the championship it does not mean you are some unbeatable Goliath all the sudden like it meant between 2015-2018 with the warriors and cavs in their respected conferences. I’m gonna assume you’re basing this more off the roster comparison, experience, etc…But by that metric I would have the outcome of the finals being totally up in the air for my prediction if it came down to Boston vs OKC. OKC’s roster is definitely deeper. The Celtics have 3 bench guys but all are very liable to put up 0’s on the board on a given night between a 40 year old Horford, Hausser, and Pritchard. The bench for OKC is far stronger with Dort(or Caruso), Joe, Wiggins, Wallace, Williams, and new additions like Mitchell and Jones. This team is stacked from top to bottom. Starting lineup is maybe only slightly inferior but the talent and versatility of that starting 5 is insane. Now having playoff experience, coming off nearly beating the Mavs in their first year I would not at all be surprised to see OKC beat Boston. Really isn’t that crazy. The NBA moves on, teams improve and surpass each other. Now with the new CBA rules especially this will continue to happen.
@@curiositypremiumaccount Maybe "puncher's chance" is undervaluing them a bit, but I'm basing it mainly off of how the Celtics dismantled the Mavs, even with Tatum struggling to score early in the series and no Porzingis for the vast majority of their playoff run
@@crashlight54Fair point in how they took apart the Mavs. My counterpoint to that would be OKC nearly beat the Mavs themselves in their first year, and then added Caruso and Heartenstien who are just different kind of role players. I just have this sneaky suspicion they will have a year like GSW in 2015 after losing to the Clips.
@@curiositypremiumaccountI also stand by this. The Celtics definitely have weaknesses, last year they literally played injured teams up until the finals and had one of the easiest playoff paths, and still managed to lose games they could have one and nearly lost games that should not have even been competitive. They were lucky KP returned in time for the finals or else that series would have definitely been challenging. But on the other hand, a team that just won the title should by every means be seen as the team to beat the following season unless the team makes major changes. So you can kinda understand why they are seen as “the beast in the east” at least for this season.
Idk for as flawed as the KD westbrook okc teams were, I'd still take some of those years over the current thunder. KD was simply on another level than sga

I mean with the shooters we have and the draft picks we got (Jones and Mitchell can shoot), I would love for them to be open to resting a few games if possible. Last season it felt like they were playing with house money and impressed us all. This season most people are predicting them to be 1st in the west again an be legit title contenders. It'll be interesting to see how this young team handles the extremely high expectations.
Yessir! I’ve been waiting for this video! There are a million reasons to be super optimistic about the season! here is my take: My only concern is that last season we had a super healthy team (which makes sense since we are also super young), and that some players were crazy effective and maybe will have hard to replicate that even though young players usually only get better and the team is still super young. In terms of injuries, I really hope we can stay healthy, but I believe Caruso for example might have some issues since he’s had them the last few years. I just hope he’ll be healthy for the playoffs because he’s going to be critical for us against all the other contenders-Luka and Kyrie, Ant, Jamal Murray, and maybe even Devin Booker and ofcouse the Celtics if we will be in the Finals. Anyway, my biggest optimism and curiosity is around Jdub and Chet. Both of them should really benefit from Ihart signing. Chet won’t need to battle big bodies and wear himself out, and Jdub can also move to the 3 and guard people of his own size. Yes, I expect the spacing to be tighter with Ihart, but i believe both of them are super competitive guys and will only improve. And obviously, I completely agree that the defense could be historically good. We have crazy good defenders at every position. The fact that SGA and Jdub will be the "weakest" defenders in our starting 5 is insane (or 6, including Dort or Caruso-it's still unclear who will start). I’d love it if you could also do a video about the Thunder press conference. Presti is super smart and always gives hints about what he’s thinking and how the season might go.
Imagine just last year Isiah hartenstein was a vet min player , getting his role and being great in New York is exactly what the thunder need and they got the cash. This team is right up there with NY and BOS and Dallas and just had the 12th pick in the draft lol.
Friendly reminder that this team was 4th in defensive rating LAST season, and have added Hartenstein and Caruso this offseason, who were 3rd and 7th in DBPM last season! Additionally - Caruso was 4th in steals per game! The price for these two players? Josh Giddey and cap space. Hello hardware!!
This is by far going to be the best OKC team we've ever seen, the progression we should see from Chet, Dub, and all the other young guys on top of the perfect additions is going to be fun to watch
Counterpoints. 1. The Thunder are still at a decisive size disadvantage against every West contender. All of their perimeter guys are 6-5 and under, with only Dort having any real beef, and none of them are particularly good rebounders. 2. Their off-season additions didn't actually improve the team (stay with me). They already had four guys who do what Caruso does, and they needed bigger wings and forwards more than a big center. Putting IHart on the floor only makes it easier for other West teams to play their bigs compared to the five out spacing Chet and JWill were giving them. 3. They'll miss Giddey more than they think. Giddey as a grab and go guy and a third ball handler capable of running casual P&Rs with Chet did a ton to make that offense relentless in a way that a lot of teams weren't ready for last year. 4. A knock on effect of losing Giddey means that a lot of the targeted attacks that went his way will now be aimed at SGA. Obviously SGA is a better defender (though not as good as his reputation suggests), but I could absolutely see teams targeting him to wear him out, because why wouldn't they? 5. They're surprisingly top heavy. Losing Giddey means that even more of the offensive responsibility is landing on SGA and JDub. When one of those guys are out, they become almost completely dependent on the other to generate all of their offense. 6. I kinda hate Chet as a four. Everything that makes him special (other than his height) goes away with him at the four. His handle and shot are really good as a five, but pretty mid as a power forward. He goes from being able to abuse centers on the perimeter to being defended by players who are way more comfortable out there, and almost universally stronger than him. Nearly every four in the game is strong enough to screen him out of the play on defense, so even having him as a roaming rim protector isn't as big an advantage as it seems.
Idk I'm a lifelong Kentucky wildcats fan as im a Kentucky native so of course I like Shai but... Top 5 in the league is debatable. He's undoubtedly top 10 in the league. He tries and gives effort and is good but he's not a fucjing dpoy player and the fact he got votes for it just shows people don't really watch. But stop talking about Shai like he's prime mj and is a legit dpoy, he's not.
As a mavs fan who we played the thunder and won that series I’m actually pretty scared of them. The 2nd round series was tough and I’m glad we won but that thunder team is gonna be tough to beat
@@meroniyassu2621 We both got better, Mavs additions just aren’t as obvious at first glance because all the attention is on Klay. This has been the biggest problem with my Nuggets the last few seasons- we gave up draft capital for nothing over the last 6 seasons to rent Centers we didn’t use.
You don't discuss about a important topic about this team : salary. Every piece is under contract for 2 or 3 years minimum (Caruso just 1 years) and i don't think that every body will be paid at this point. But the fact that in 2 years you can surely resign Chet and J-Dub and keep some role players, that's really scary they will dominate the league if everything goes as expected
@@RayanStrawberry7OKC owns the right to swap picks with the Clippers in the next draft. With Kawhi's health concerns, there's a chance they don't make the playoffs, giving OKC a (very) small shot at the #1 pick
@@williampelts6697 I personally believe they should trade those pick for future picks if that's possible. There's absolutely no need for any 1st round picks there already way too good plus those first round picks wont get any minutes anyways
But can you win a championship on mid range jumpers? is SGA too small also? Serious questions. Can SGA guard a pick n roll and guard a big man? He was on the bottom end of a Lively lob a lot to end the OKC season. Even someone like Derrick Fisher was super strong and able to body big men and bounce around down there effectively some times. SGA man I Dont know, he's obviously a great offensive talent but can he hit a high volume of 3s? I dont know if SGA spreads the floor enough or if he can actually play impactful defense not just gambling for steals in the playoffs.
I actually don't think they're winning this year, they need some more playoff experience IMO. But, with all those picks and talent, they're definitely winning in the next few years for sure.
It depends I don't know alot of people that think they are the favs to win the chip or even come out of the west but everyone thinks they will jave the best record in the west or in the nba.
OKC succes last season is based on an incredible amount of luck . Since nobody got hurt or missed significant time. There's no way it happens again this season .

@@Kanyewestglazer yes, I know, I’m a Mavs fan. Nobody can really fully guard Luka but Dort will always make it as annoying as possible. Being super physical with Luka is probably the best way to guard him and that’s all Dort knows how to do, he throws his body around like a bowling ball.
As long as they stay healthy, they’ll dominate the regular season pretty easily. They can matchup with any team in a playoff series, elite on both sides of the ball, and didn’t lose anything while adding 2 high level role players that fit the scheme. This is a 60+ win team.
Kinda skeptical about their shooting going into this season tbh. Weren't they shooting like 40+% from 3 as a team for like the first 3 months into the season. OKC is definitely good in the long term but I bet they are still a few pieces away.
Shooting will not be the problem we traded a lower percentage shooter and got 2 super high percentage shooters, injury’s and these guys not meshing well is the only thing that could prevent us from a championship.
I'm of a similar mindset. I think they can win now, but they aren't a lock unless their defense becomes dominant and JDub and Chet make a sizeable leap. If they can package a few role players and picks for another complimentary star/borderline star, I think they can b3come a perennial title favoritw.
Mavs definitely didn’t get worse but okc easily had the best offseason. Most overall depth in the nba other than the Celtics but they’re more top heavy
As a Mavs fan, the Thunder have more consistency, youth and health. Over the course of an 82 game season I expect them to be better. The Mavs will take time to start gelling and firing on all cylinders and Luka, Kyrie, Klay will probably miss time. But as long as they’re healthy going into the playoffs I’m not worried at all.
This whole team can't beat the Celtics I think. SGA is basically Tatum light because he doesn't provide Tatum's elite switching defense. This will matter a lot in the matchup. Jaylen Brown is better than Jalen Williams. KP is better than Chet. Derrick White better than Dort. Just kinda seems like Celtics have their number.
Top 3 teams Boston Okc Mavericks Boston is destined to lose cuz it’s too obvious so if it ain’t Celtics it’s 99% gonna be okc winning lol unless klay actually played good on the mavs or doesn’t get injured cuz the best ability is availability
lol to a mavs fan that thinks klay takes them over the top When klay is not the same player as he once’s was that line up of Irving Luka and klay has disaster all over it defensively 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, while your Team has a lot of Potential, it takes MUCH more than That, to truly Win. Nobody can claim they know how good their team really Is, especially durin', Playoffs. Your team lacks Experience, so don't Have, "Too high of," expectations. Look how long it took my Boston Celtics to win, 7 years, basically. Just because you have a Pretty solid Roster, doesn't mean, Tons. Be realistic, also yes.
This year or next year, it’s just a matter of time. When you look at other teams and filling the gaps in trades, no one really knows if the changes will actually help, Dallas, Knick’s, sixers, May or may not help. The thunder without a doubt got better at obvious deficiencies.
I’m glad my Celtics have a different timeline than OKC. They have enough xp and talent to keep OKC at bay for a while, but look out in 3 years time. Poor Luka, Jokić and Wemby will have their hands full trying to get back to Finals or making it there the next decade. The West playoffs will be a dogfight between OKC, SAS, DAL, DEN and Wolves. Suns are declining along with Lakers and Warriors. Kings, Rockets, Grizzlies and Pelicans have talent as well but are missing reliable stars. To be honest the west is becoming a problem, but I think C’s win a couple more the next 3 years.

@@RayanStrawberry7OKC owns the right to swap picks with the Clippers in the next draft. With Kawhi's health concerns, there's a chance they don't make the playoffs, giving OKC a (very) small shot at the #1 pick
@@williampelts6697and it’s wonderful they control the Clippers NEXT 3 drafts… Presti is a maniac.
@@mattnoonan6519 yeah hopefully the clippers are terrible or the rockets are somewhat terrible
Watching this after the Seahawks lost😂definitely lightened the mood
this way 2 real😭😭😭🙏🏾
WHO CARES VANDY BEAT ALABAMA #ANCHORDOWN
I actually don't think they're winning this year, they need some more playoff experience IMO. But, with all those picks and talent, they're definitely winning in the next few years for sure.
They'll have the depth and cohesion of the Celtics but with a real #1 option. Scary hours
It depends I don't know alot of people that think they are the favs to win the chip or even come out of the west but everyone thinks they will jave the best record in the west or in the nba.
They need an attitude shift before they get back into the playoffs
The perfect storm.⚡️🆙️ 🏆
As a Knicks fan, I hope we see them in the finals. Would be a solid showdown and I’m a big fan of Chet
Thunder gotta be the most overrated and overglazed team this century😂💯
OKC succes last season is based on an incredible amount of luck .
Since nobody got hurt or missed significant time.
There's no way it happens again this season .
You absolutely don't need to tell us why OKC are gonna be amazing, but you should absolutely enjoy the fact that you get to! :D
But who on that team can guard healthy luka or gafford/lively
@@Kanyewestglazer Dort would do his “flopping around like a mentally impaired linebacker” gimmick that he always does to physically bother Luka, Caruso would harass Kyrie, paint won’t be as easy as it was last year with Chet and Hartenstein together.

@@nomorepartiezz I dont think that a healthy luka wont absolutely smoke him. Dort is too short luka can also just drive every play and kick out
U confidently picking them above Denver and Dallas ??
“Most biggest Thunder fan in the world” chill I’m still alive
Get ready for OKC vs wemby conference finals for the next 10 years
i just wonder if they have a healthy season like they did last season
They have the best shooting coach in the world, Chip England. That’s why they’re such a good shooting team.
I'm of a similar mindset. I think they can win now, but they aren't a lock unless their defense becomes dominant and JDub and Chet make a sizeable leap.
If they can package a few role players and picks for another complimentary star/borderline star, I think they can b3come a perennial title favoritw.
Could OKC beat the warriors all time win record👀
Question before Okc came to be what was your favorite team in the nba or did you become a fan of the nba when Okc became a thing?
I began following the NBA right about when the Thunder moved to OKC
@@three_coneah perfect timing then lol
Mavs sleeping very soundly at night
Mavs definitely didn’t get worse but okc easily had the best offseason. Most overall depth in the nba other than the Celtics but they’re more top heavy
As a Mavs fan, the Thunder have more consistency, youth and health. Over the course of an 82 game season I expect them to be better. The Mavs will take time to start gelling and firing on all cylinders and Luka, Kyrie, Klay will probably miss time. But as long as they’re healthy going into the playoffs I’m not worried at all.
But is it and not wanting to be mean but is it a prerequisite for NBA channels to talk that fast ?
This whole team can't beat the Celtics I think. SGA is basically Tatum light because he doesn't provide Tatum's elite switching defense. This will matter a lot in the matchup.
Jaylen Brown is better than Jalen Williams.
KP is better than Chet.
Derrick White better than Dort.
Just kinda seems like Celtics have their number.
Celtics in 5
Top 3 teams
Boston
Okc
Mavericks
Boston is destined to lose cuz it’s too obvious so if it ain’t Celtics it’s 99% gonna be okc winning lol unless klay actually played good on the mavs or doesn’t get injured cuz the best ability is availability

They should be the favorites to win because if they stay healthy and don’t have a cold streak in the playoffs I don’t see how they don’t

Boston is too good to just say that Though, however. They're offensively okay, not Great, essentially.

To be honest the west is becoming a problem, but I think C’s win a couple more the next 3 years.

thj -> Klay (massive upgrade even at 34 and washed)
Josh green -> Quentin grimes (massive upgrade, actually plays insane defense)
DJJ -> Naji Marshall (much more offensive capability, maybe slightly worse of defense)
The Mavs undeniably got better the only difference is switching the DJJ spot from defense to shooting, but we still have Naji to switch in for the DJJ role anyways. This team is deep but none of yall want to acknowledge it because you’re hung up on Klay.
DJJ was literally a fucking nobody a year ago but one good season with the Mavs and now everybody acts like he was some all defensive player that’s ruined our team by leaving.
The Mavs went through a mid roster and a fuck ton of injuries last year until they had a turnaround after the deadline and went on an insane run to end the season. This is a better version of that post deadline team but now with a full year to figure lineups and chemistry out.
By the way name me one signature SGA playoff moment… I’m waiting… Luka already has multiple all time iconic ones by the time he was 24. SGA’s the same age as Tatum, who has been in the conference finals almost every year and is a champion, and his biggest playoff moment is losing a second round series by fouling a three point shooter like a dumbass. Luka was dropping 40 point triple doubles on *prime Kawhi and PG* in his *first playoff series* as a 20 year old kid. Completely obliterated a 67 win first seed on their home court when he was 23. Hit one of the biggest shots of the playoffs on the DPOY and took his team to the Finals a year after missing the play-in at 25. Compared to uh, idk actually… congrats on beating the Pelicans without Zion though I guess.
