Which is Better to Stack? ASE vs Constitutional Silver

  • Опубліковано 18 сер 2024
  • In this video I talk about the pros and cons of stacking American Silver Eagles and Constitutional Silver. Do you stack ASEs or Constitutional Junk Silver? Silver stackers have been stacking both for a long time and they both have their advantages and disadvantages... The American Silver Eagle is backed by the US Government along with Constitutional Silver so they are both good options. I hope that I can bring up some good points in this video and help someone to chose which of the two they would rather stack! It is always a good idea to diversify so maybe stacking American Silver Eagles AND Constitutional Silver might not be the worst idea either.

    A good video and discussion. I think constitutional silver can sometimes be had for a better price over spot than eagles, but a con would be that many times you find that worn constitutional will be literally missing weight.

      Very enjoyable and thought provoking video. Right now my strategy is about 1/4 ASEs, 1/4 generic bars and rounds and 1/2 Constitutional. I believe in a good diversification strategy. The main thing I need to figure out is how much gold I should buy to my silver stack. I have approximately 400 ounces of silver. Any thoughts?

      @@briancarpenter6069 ...my take is that when the ratio between the two become "what should be the norm" or for some reason, the price of silver goes way up in comparison, that might be the point where you need to sell or trade silver and shift into some gold. Best wishes! MAGA!!

    Constitutional Silver if you are thinking MAJOR economic collapse and you need bartering cash, other than that ASE's would be great to preserve wealth.

  • @YankeeStacking

    There’s one for constitutional that’s unproven and somewhat questionable, but something I actually believe could happen during an SHTF barter situation. I think the fact that constitutional being 90% silver could end up providing a “10% premium” in that people may treat a silver quarter or half dollar or dime simply as a “silver coin” and value supplies accordingly. There will no doubt be a learning curve, but the lower purity level might actually be a plus!
    Nice video, my friend! 😄👌🏼

    another pro for junk is that if you are holding mercury dimes or walking liberty halves, your kids or grand kinds might wind up holding numi potential. my hope is I never need my silver. and I want my kids/grand kids to be able to pass my horde off a little at a time for the numi value. fingers crossed. bought a bunch of merc dimes this summer for 49cents over spot this summer. they looked pretty nice, surely there will be a few good coins hiding in there.

    Good to have some of both.
    One advantage with ASEs or other large sizes is they are usually in better condition since people do not carry them around and circulate them very much; that is the flipside of constitution being portable and fractional.

  • @josephngo5858
    @josephngo5858 5 років тому +2

    Pro for 90% coinage, particularly dimes and quarters, not an attractive target for Chinese fakes. Lower return on investment for scammers. Also, 1 counterfeit charge for ASE vs 14 counts for each dime makes it more high risk relative to higher value coinage. Less likely to be fooled by highly recognizable dimes/quarters that can be felt up vs sealed mint tubes or slabbed coins of ASE that you rather not have to touch directly.

    But will Junk silver be widely useable during a currency crash?
    Will check out registers be able to convert it?
    What happens when 90% Junk gets mixed in with our current coinage?
    What happens when you add into the mix, round, bars and Silver Eagles.
    These are the question that are not being addressed.
    Junk silver may not be the best safe Haven for your saving and security.

    Good video SB! We live in a time when people can’t do simple math without pulling out their smartphones. Don’t forget, most of the population doesn’t even no the value of silver like we do. Us stackers r the minority. I don’t expect others to no the difference between 90%, 40%, 75% etc. For me it’s all about the ASE’s. Imo, it’s best to keep it stupid simple with regards to liquidity. My wife saves her constitutional tho. That’s basically free silver. Thanks for the great share bud!!👍

Have been roll hunting for a couple years, and have had unusually good luck at the change machines in the self service car washes for quarters. If SHTF. The majority of people will recognize the constitutional in trading more easily. Street price will be set first in constitutional only because most people will have it vs pure silver, and while everyone loves gold... not many will have it to trade so the street will have a wildly variable valuation. I think someone already said it but what about stacking both? The ASE's come with a premium making them cost more than the constitutional silver per ounce. Also, the constitutional silver can actually weigh less than what you paying for. I personally don't have a preference. I stack whatever I can find at a good price at the time. I have a budget of about $100-150 every two weeks when I get paid and the first thing I do besides go by my local coin shop is check out all the deals online for silver at or near spot price. Or, if the ASE's are on sale I'll try and grab some of those. But lately it seems like I've picked up mostly generic silver rounds or bars and/or constitutional silver. I rarely find the ASE's on sale or at a price I feel is worth buying. Anyone know of any good deals on American Silver Eagles they are willing to share with me (us)? Lol, any leads are greatly appreciated!!!

  • @nathanfisher4687
    @nathanfisher4687 4 роки тому

    Very new at this - but logical question. Let’s just say you stack equal quantities over 40 years. Wouldn’t it make sense that with 90% of the old currency melted for silver that over the next 40 years more of it might be melted? This might then reveal a potentially high numismatic value to your ‘junk’ silver - at the very least I’d probably then go through the junk and separate out those that might be in much better condition versus those in poor conditions. If you have a decent haul and maybe silver hits 30 - it might make sense to liquidate the eagles to possibly gold if the ratio is 50 or less. But hold on to the junk for the 40 year payoff - at the very least you still have 90% silver. On the upside, you may have stacks of now very rare coins that are all over 100 years old.

    Hey, I am a newbie stacker and need some help. I see the price of silver right now is around $15 per ounce, but when I search on Ebay, the one ouncers are around 21 at the lowest. I bought a 2 oz monarch bar for $43, part of the reason is I like to collect metals from the periodic table and part of it was to possibly start collecting silver. I went on other sites like APMEX but their shipping cost is $10 and adds up to around the same for 2 oz. Was it a mistake to buy the monarch 2 oz for $43? I assume that the price per bar gets cheaper when you buy in larger quantities. I am still in high school and only have a couple hundred to spend but I don't feel too comfortable spending $300 on silver right off the bat. Any advice?

    • @daybot2.085
      @daybot2.085 5 років тому +5

      Here is my basic rule: Never pay more than $4.00 over spot for a silver ounce. Ebay is not the way to go. On that site there are hundereds of real looking coins but they are fake. Buy silver from well established preacious metals dealers like Money Metals Exchange or Provident Metals. I just bought 4oz of silver from M.M.E for $72.00 and it got to me fast without shipping charge. While you are just getting started in silver collecting, take advantage of the "First time buyer" deals. Every well established metals dealer should have a deal of thier own. I collect for metal content so i mostly collect rounds, but i really love the Eagles! Btw never pay more than $21 for an Eagle, as it is a rip off. For rounds, no more than $20 or it is a bad deal. Good luck in your silver collecting!

      Hi kalash. A 2oz. bar for $43 is too high of a premium. You can get ASEs at a lower premium than that. Provident and Apmex will give you free shipping over $100. Save up for a $100.+ purchace. I would go with the ASE! You are starting at a very good age. Slow and steady wins this race! GOOD LUCK, KALASH! *:-)*

      do you have a local coin shop? if you are buying in small amounts, that would get rid of shipping, but you may have a sales tax depending on local. another option is to wait for eBay bonus bucks or other promo deals, you can get deals below spot on eBay if you work it right, do your research and don't be in a hurry to purchase. eBay going to be priced way over spot to cover the fees and the credit card costs. can't do eBay without getting involved with the discount strategies. also, watch the daily deals. there are sometimes good deals there as well. another resource is looking at findbullionprices.com they have some resources to identify deals on eBay and elsewhere. but it isn't a complete list of best deals on eBay. be patient, and don't over spend. once you learn the options, you will be able to find metals under spot or very close to spot price with free shipping if the order is large enough. good luck in your stacking in 2019

      Try the local coin shops and jewelry shops. They are more likely to take small sales, and can give you an education too. If you are a regular customer, They may cut a deal.

    Constitutional is my fractional silver simply put. Having 999 may function as both a core asset and a trading mechanism but Constitutional is no doubt useful simply for commerce reasons alone. Best to have both!

    What happens when the JUNK gets mixed into our Current crap coinage??
    It will take a 100% inspection of every piece of coinage and a calculator with PM specialist.

      Bill Rundell gresham’s LAW states that it won’t get mixed in with our clad coinage but the opposite... it will become more separated. look at coin roll hunters 🔥🐉

    Hi Baggins. PRO: ASEs have the weight on the coin. (one ounce). CON: 90% usually is worn, not full weight. 90% is filthy. Most ASEs are pristeen. Prices are given by the ounce, 90% needs weighing and math to determine value. I have some 90%, but ASEs are my foundation. Also, There are some proof 90% coins made from 1992 - present. I have 22 rolls of silver proof State Quarters. I like ASEs! *:-)*
