    Ours is outdoors and thrives here even in our cold, wet country. Our secret is the drainage - very poor soil, stones and sand.
    Thanks for sharing this, Devin ❤️

      oooh if you can grow in Denmark outdoors, i must try it in my garden outside!

      We were surprised, too. But really... the key is the drainage. We even use an unglazed terracotta pot. The plant is now around hip level, so it loves it here. :) AND... you can grow anything! We've all seen that. :) @@plantvibrations

    Shoot. I’m usually the first to comment but I went to bed early last night. lol. Thanks for another great video. I have always struggled growing rosemary indoors. I live in zone 6B and my neighbor swears she grows hers outside and it survives winters. I think I’ll sneak some cuttings from hers and try it. And I have been using Roberta’s Bounty for a while now…it’s fantastic!

      Give it a try indoors! my problem with keeping them outside in pots is mainly that i neglect watering them throughout the winter! ooooh nice job with the bounty, love it!

    Good to know about the outdoor sun exposure! I just assumed that any plant native to a mediterranean climate can take full sun with minimal watering even in a container, since summer tends to be the dry season in a Mediterranean climate. Also, imagine growing this plant indoors at the equator. It would need a north facing window for half the year and a south facing window for the other half of the year. And then there would be that strange period around the equinox - where the sun would appear to arc directly over head at mid-day and therefore not shine through a north or south facing window!

    I love rosemary, but I could never keep it growing over the winter. This was a very informative video! Can’t wait for spring to try and start a new Rosemary plant that will last!

    Yes, I've been bringing my plant in and out for 4 years now and it does work, its actually in bloom right now. The only problem I faced is the plant needs watering almost every day, not a problem but I feel I'm always at the edge of when it really needs it. It can develop that crispy look but always comes back. I think root pruning is in order after it finishes blooming this spring and goes on summer vacation.

    • @plantvibrations
      @plantvibrations  3 місяці тому

      yes i totally agree, mine definitely needs water every 2 days or so, which can be annoying. and you are right that they can get a bit crisped out after pruning back the top for awhile during the formation of new foliage. thanks for sharing your experience!

    I’m in the same zone. My rosemary survived in the ground over winter last year. I didn’t realize it wasn’t supposed to. I think I’ll take a clipping in the spring and try to propagate it if it has survived this winter. Thanks for the tips.

    I have 10 y.o. rosemary in a pot which grows 100% of the time indoors. I've chosen prostrate form specifically for its shorter internodes and bushier habit. It blooms for about 6 months a year. I have regular upright form too shaped as topiary but it's like 5-6 y.o. It's my second try to grow it. First one was successful too but eventually it became too big so I gifted it to my sister... she killed it in first summer. Who knew that potted rosemary is not drought tolerant 🤣

      Wow i bet your ten year old plant is awesome looking! great idea to go for the prostrate. and LOL, such a common misconception about drought tolerant plants in containers haha

    Hey Devin, love your videos, thank you for sharing all your knowledge. Could you do a video on orchids? Specifically getting the store bought orchids to rebloom. I've repotted in orchid medium, fertilize once a week, but only 2 out of 5 have been successful. How do we get them to grow a new flower spike? Thank you!!!
