I am almost in tears. I don't know why you did this but thank you. I attended from K-5th grade. My first play, my chorus performances, the radiators in the hall that were peeling paint along with the walls. I got my first (and only) black eye here. I was literally walking through the halls with the videographer. I always wondered what happened after graduation. The school was closed not too long after I graduated because of the threat of lead paint poisoning. (Glad I survived) I loved this school! Thank you
Wow Ms Benton I feel that same nostalgia 😢 I also attended K-5th and I too felt a little emotional just thinking about all of the friends and wonderful faculty and staff that made this a great school!
I played with my elementary school orchestra in that auditorium/gym where the homeless guys was sleeping, probably in 1980 or so. Weird...thanks for posting!
Sure is! I envy what you do, me and a couple of friends used to go explore old structures around town, lots of fun. One of my favorites was the old mental health institute/Candler mansion over on Briarcliff Rd (now part of Emory campus). Also cotton mill in Cabbagetown amongst others. Miss those adventures!
Ali Gregg The noises people hear are the folks outside of the school. I remember a school bus nearby dropping off kids while we were in there. Not sure if there were any deaths on the property over the years though.
Very well filmed, with an excellent camera and slow, steady hand. I also truly appreciate that you aren't saying things like, "oh, wow", and "cool", and the like. Instead, it is silent. I think that adds to the atmosphere -- it also is respectful. I like the added facts you've added about the site.
That's quite sad. What's shocking is, when it closed: 1995 - looks like it was closed for much longer than that! I hardly think they'll be able to renovate it, as it's too far gone - would cost much more to renovate it than it would to just tear it down and rebuild on the lot. Great vid and interesting info. Thanks for sharing!
My old highschool was closed down about 8yrs ago. I went there for 1.5 yrs during jr high until the new HS was being built to replace it. A couple friends and I went back to explore it about 5yrs ago. It was pretty cool to see all the remaining remnants left behind some I still remembered. It was officially demolished last year after my church couldn't sell it nor keep it up. It was a big catholic school that was opened back in the early 1900s. It was only catholic school in the town I lived in. There are some haunted legends/ stories that surround the school as well.
Yeah I definitely agree, and that's always a risk when going into places like this, ya never know what you're going to find behind those abandoned walls!! In this case, they just found a man sleeping...still scary though, you don't know what they'll do...specially if they think you're there to harm them or steal their shopping carts or if they're hyped up on some sort of drug..etc. ****Be safe out there**** "TheUnknownCameraman" and anyone else that does this sort of thing!!!!
I don't know why every time i see an abandoned building. I keep seeing people as tho they are living their past memories again. It's like me reliving their lives again.
Were you wearing a mask while filming this? It sounded like you were and it would definitely be smart because a lot of those buildings are loaded with asbestos.
I wonder who benefitted financially with the condominiums built where this school once stood. It's not like this parcel of land is now public use. Thanks for memorializing this structure
I started this school in 1948 (5th grade) and after finishing the 7th grade, I went to Murphy High School, not far away. Wish I could have seen the building again before it was demolished. I still have my class photos from those three years. My 5th grade teacher was "Ms. Miller".
I never understand why people are always so creeped out by abandoned buildings, so quick to associate them with ghosts. I would be more creeped out by squatters that may mug me or jump me more than anything of the spectral nature. I appreciate this because I really value seeing the architecture of these older buildings, even though it breaks my heart to see these places in such disrepair and find out they've been demolished
Its really sad that local governments don't try harder to preserve older buildings. My high school built in 1956 is still in use to this day with several additions added over the years. The original school burned down after only 7 years of being open in 1952. The previous two building are still being used as a special education and middle school. In fact only one school in that district was demolished and that was my elementary school. It was only demolished because it was heavily damaged by a flood in 2001. Point being older buildings don't have to end up like this. It may cost more to renovate them, but the end results are worth it.
It's so sad to see a guy having to sleep in there, what has this world come to?! This is really sad but I am eating while I watch😊 I can't get enough of these kinds of videos and am gonna watch all of the today. It's my first time watching theunknowncameraman and I Love This stuff. Keep up the Great Filiming and have you ever come across a dead person?
As I was watching this, I was wondering how often you guys stumble across a squatter or other homeless person staying in one of these places. As I was wondering that, I got to the part where you noted that there was a guy sleeping in on of the rooms. You guys have much bigger cajones than I do. Thanks for sharing your footage.
As soon as the roof starts leaking in any significant amount, water damage takes care of these abandoned buildings pretty dang quickly, especially after a few freeze/thaw cycles in cold weather.
Why was it abandoned? Like there has to be a reason. I researched it an it closed in 1995.. Four years before 100 years. Why would it close just randomly. And so close to being open for 100 years. I've tried to find out but sadly I couldnt find anything. Im hoping someone else knows?
It always blows my mind how much decay there is after a few years with places like this. Seems like a lot of it is just temperature, humidity, and roof leaks. That's a cool old building though.
the shirt at 4:26 looks like it's from the Tony Hawk label, I found that odd because this school looks like it's been abandoned way before he ever had his own clothing line... maybe someone exploring left it there.
I wish i could tell you about this school in my town its creepy because i went there when i was 4-5 at the time and a year later its closed i moved schools before that even happened i once went to explore and i was not aware that there was other explores to sorry for my bad english but thanks if you read this :D
I thought that was cool when you showed the vines growing over the chalkboard. Are most of the people you find in old buildings nice or are they pretty sketchy?
yeah, he's under the blankets and trash center/right stage around 11:04. you cant really see him in the video. ended up seeing his face and all later on.

Derrick has been absent for quite a few years now.....we are going to have to hold him back a bit..... OMG LOL IM DYING....the poop, the Bears, the sleeping guy "Hey you good man" and freaking Derrick😂😂😂😂😂Oh dear god help
Hey..I was not able to see the homeless man in this video, my curiosity is spiked and I was curious if you can tell me at the best time to view this person. As always a great video. Kudos to you and your team.
20:00 Do you see the winking anime face pattern just to the mid-right of the farthest and rightmost door on the wall from the decay, just to the bottom left of the grey window sill?
kitty0706 wolf Pause it at 20:00 and look just under the window sill to the left of it. It looks kinda like a winking anime girl face. It's easy to spot because to the right of it is nothing but white paint and just above a greyer strip of decay.
Linda Beckworth I attended that school in the fifties. It was beautiful and had wonderful teachers. By the way, a small boy was tragically killed when a heavy swing set turned over and crushed him to death. This was around 1955.

+Evans Lee Hi, can you tell me if anyone died there? There are people above me saying that they hear noises like babies crying and kids playing.
Ali Gregg The noises people hear are the folks outside of the school. I remember a school bus nearby dropping off kids while we were in there. Not sure if there were any deaths on the property over the years though.
***** Oh. Thanks and nice videos.
At least Derrick can still hang his coat up.

Man, it's amazing just how much that place deteriorated in 20 years. From the looks of it, that school looks like it was abandon even longer ago.
That's quite sad. What's shocking is, when it closed: 1995 - looks like it was closed for much longer than that! Well done... I love your cinematography... you have an amazing eye for this... Thank you!
That Teddy bear is taking an eternal bathroom break LOL.
Your videos are amazing. Abandoned places are so creepy, but intriguing. Thanks for going out and filming all of these :)

My first thought when I saw the three mops in one of the classrooms were "I think you missed a few spots." xD
At first I thought the teddy bear was a HUGE piece of shit all over the toilet in the tiny thumb nail then I realized its a teddy bear after watching
ikr?
XD

Do you have to breath so hard? My mom thinks I'm having sex.
They were wearing respirators so they didn't breath in any dust lol
UniversalNightengale okey Now I understand now. Thank you.
Morgan Freeman Dang Morgan Freeman, you still live with your mom?
JonJonTheReLic yes, thug life.
Always great vids, T.U.C.! With a little historical of building. Good work!
Looks like it was abandoned in the 60's not 1995 judging by all that decay. Must be the humidity there.
was i the only one who heard a boy screaming "oh my god help me!" at random points in the video?
What times i wanna hear
What part was that? Did you hear the baby cries at 15:14 and the children screams at 18:37?
Cool old school. Thanx for going in and sharing with us.

Restoring old buildings is one way the U.S. is way ahead of Canada.
It's all about government policy!

Any update on the school's state. cause it would be interesting for it to of been renovated into a set of houses if likely.
Just looks like your basic public school. Maybe even cleaner. Where does the abandoned part come in?
As soon as the roof starts leaking in any significant amount, water damage takes care of these abandoned buildings pretty dang quickly, especially after a few freeze/thaw cycles in cold weather.

It's likely a combination of change in demographics and the cost to mitigate the lead and asbestos found in older buildings like this.
it's sad that this is what the world will look like when Obama's finished with it.
HAHA😂😂😂😂😂😂 so true
Amber Wehrenberg thank you
Annette Kingsley thx
I guess Obama will take over the world?

4:00 im enjoying a treat Derrick !!!
Look like Rita Decook also commented as attending 52-60. Any parts of the video that you remember from when you attended?
I wonder how long this school been closed for
It said 1995
the shirt at 4:26 looks like it's from the Tony Hawk label, I found that odd because this school looks like it's been abandoned way before he ever had his own clothing line... maybe someone exploring left it there.

It's amazing how in 17 years that much damage can happen.
where was the guy who was sleeping? I couldn't see him.
6:00
AHH THE TOILET PAPER QUALITY IS ABYSMAL D:
Just kidding.
Forgot to ask, how did it catch fire...arson or faulty wiring?
yeah, he's under the blankets and trash center/right stage around 11:04. you cant really see him in the video. ended up seeing his face and all later on.
Do you remember any part of the school in the video from when you attended? Anything that changed since you were there?
Where was the guy sleeping at? I tried to find him but didn't see him. Anybody else see him?
Under blankets on the stage. I didn't really get a good shot of him.
11:16 why is the exit sighn upside down???
last question i promise, how did you get in? looked like all the doors were chained and padlocked?
can you please tell me the single creepiest, most eerie and scary place you have in your vids? i love these kinds of vids, subscribing! point me in the right direction!!
Do you explore alone? If so, do you ever get creeped out to so much as leave? Because those places look pretty scary to me.
Great vid! Have you ever been caught while filming somewhere in which your not supposed to be? Ever get in trouble with LE?
An absolutely great video! I'm subscribing!

11:16 EXIT SIGN U HAD ONE JOB
Aly yet failed miserably
I wonder if Mrs. Lewis is still alive or not.
U should have your own tv show
How did the walls and the ceilings fall after 10 years of abandonment? and why are all the windows shattered? could ten years do that to a building?
Tight! I live about 5 mins away from here off of Memorial Dr; as you may have seen while you were visiting here, there are alot of old buildings that are converted into loft properties in this immediate area. And the avg. rent to live in these types of properties are about $1100 and up for 1 bed. Check out the history on "Fulton Cotton Mill Lofts" & "THE ROOSEVELT Lofts" - which was a school.. I took a tour and it was kind of creepy. Thanks for sharing this video! :-)
I went here once at night because I'm a jackass and Georgia's p boring. The teddy bear wasn't there anymore - it'd been missing for awhile. The entire time I was shaking. There's an abandoned school in Tennessee! It's close to Turtletown, if I remember correctly...
Do you know what happened to the school to make it close? It looks like it may have flooded at one point
Strange, when you went outside there no more noises of the kids... did they go inside from recess or what?
does it ever scare u going though abandoned buildings?
Were there any pictures of the school before it was abandoned?
So how old was the school and when was it shut down?
Hey..I was not able to see the homeless man in this video, my curiosity is spiked and I was curious if you can tell me at the best time to view this person. As always a great video. Kudos to you and your team.
Whoever made this is pretty chill, if I went in there id probably be out in one minute
20:00 Do you see the winking anime face pattern just to the mid-right of the farthest and rightmost door on the wall from the decay, just to the bottom left of the grey window sill?

Amazing place, do you know how long its been abandoned?
Did I see that right? In the first bathroom, are those Marble stall dividers? Go back with a screwdriver and get yourself some new countertop. LOL
I love seeing your videos u are my second favourite youtubers
@TheUnknownCameraman what is your most interesting thing your ever found while exploring?
What the hell is behind the door at 9:34?
Be sure to checkout TUC's video uploaded 7mths ago titled "Interview with a squatter"
You should go to my old elementary school. They shut it down a couple years after I moved. They shut it down a couple years ago. It's called 4 courners elementary school in greenfield, Massachusetts.
i love seeing all these things and saying this used to be a classroom or something like that AMAZING
