Can't fool me. That's called the "Beatdown Shuffle" ...
True😂
Old Fart Natural Player here, thanks for sharing this, wish I had this 43 years ago. Thanks again OFNP
Shedding. Trying to play as much as possible, never leave the 🏠!! Cool shuffle. Just received a 22" k dark ride to play with during the social distancing period.
Awww can you send one to me please? 😔
You are the best combination of cool and easy going, with no nonscence, and lack of the big-head ego. You're not trying too hard to be cool. Not mentioning any names for the ones that do this. Suffice or to say I love you videos, new subscriber here. I know I'm going to learn allot, and that coming from someone that has been playing for 21 years, but just self taught with a smattering of tips and videos thrown in.
That shuffle sounds like the 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' shuffle by Tears For Fears to me. At least the vibe is similar.
Yes
Yeah Tony Williams did this groove on Lopsy Lu with Stanley Clark and Jan Hammer . Always loved the groove ! Keep up the great work Rob !!
Thanks Rob for driving on! I watch all your posts - they’re so helpful! Thank you...thank you...thank you!
Awesome. Dude, love your lessons.
Being disabled l've lost a lot. That won't come back, but l am and you're helping me a lot. Knocking off my rough edges. THANKS !!!
What is your disability? I also have one, back problems.
@@binobones wow that's scary people are crazy. I have a cousin that also got shot in front of his son he is permanently paralyzed. From the waist down. No one should ever have to experience that.
@abclone23 l broke both my feet last August. Good therapy.
Thanks Rob, I really enjoy your channel. And Love these different shuffles you have been showing us today.
Keep the lessons coming Rob boss!
Awesome shuffle! Thank you for taking the time to break this down, you are a great teacher Rob. Stay safe.
Excellent Rob. Really like this one.
It's like christmas morning every time you upload a video, stay awesome!
Love this shuffle! Thanks for sharing Rob!
Brilliant man!
Love your vids Bobby wish I had more time to practice and study with you stay safe buddy!
Rob, thank you. Great shuffle lesson
Thank you!!! Really need this now to break up the work from home blues!!!
Your vids are so awesome. You breakdown the how in simple terms. Thank you.
Excellent. Very good and educational. Thank you, Rob!
Love the groove. I’m trying to put the kick on 1,3&5 under the 6 with the snare on the 4. Enjoy your vids
Thank you Rob!
Great shuffle, Rob! Super tasty.
Thank you for sharing man.
Hello! Thank you for your work!
Love it! Great upload
Very smooth my Man. Once again
That intro fill !!!! Love it !!!
Thanks man. I've been trying to polish the shuffle on this original I do with my band. This hat pattern is just the thing. Can't wait to work on this tomorrow. I'm gonna come outta quarantine droppin some sweetness on my bass player.
Thanks and Blessings Brother!!!
Good to see you again brother!!!!!
Thanks Rob! This is a great new bullet for my arsenal. Also a great challenge to help keep me busy during these crazy times. Accenting the third triplet partial doesn't come naturally to me so, I've been working on it! Got the basic groove down in a couple of hours up to about 115 BPM. Now for the kick variations and the half time groove... Should take me thru to the end of the "Stay at Home" order!!
Very good !! Thanks !!
Hey Rob,
I follow your tutorials for a while now and I must say you really helped me a lot in improving my drum skills. I find your videos informative, likable, entertaining, detailed , funny and very different from other drum tutorials. Thanks a lot!
Cheers from Berlin/Germany
Thanks! I'm shedding on shuffles right now. Very timely.
I have learned a lot from you. These shuffles and your licks are awesome👌🏼 The good thing about your videos are that you make content for all kinds of drummers, beginners, advanced etc. You deserve more subscribers man! Keep up the good work and make more awesome content😁
Great stuff 🙏
Yeah that’s pretty smooth!
Another great video, Rob! Digging the shuffle beats you laid down! Needed something like this to shake the boredom of playing the same stuff on my Ludwigs! Keep up the great work! 👍
P.S. I’m spreading the word about your channel!
The half time version sounds killer.
Bad ass! It has inspired me to try this on top of a Texas shuffle, snare wise w/ this hi-hat notation on top. Hopefully it’ll work! Lol! Keep up the kick ass videos!
Purchasing one of those shirts soon and hopefully the hoodie.
I just subscribed I want to tell you how great you are at explaining the three basic rudiments I need been practicing with you for a few days and I'm seeing an improvement on my stick control and my speed thank you Rob.
This groove was I'll. I dig it. Keep rockin
Great explanation and half-time shuffle.
Another good one 👍✌️ thanks sir.
Smooth as usual
Cool style.
Love this shuffle! Very tasty and comfortable as you mentioned. I may play around with the sticking and place the snare around the groove
Very cool. 👍
Thanks for pointing out the importance of using the tip and shaft of the stick to make the groove happen on the hats. Keep up the good work!!
This is great!!! Something I can actually practice and get up to speed before I die of old age and then actually take out and use. Excellent vid, this is the way to do it :)
You are a great teacher
I love this! Similar, in some ways, to Tony's groove on "Lopsy Lu."
Wait a goddamn minute, are you talking bout vulcan princess album by clarke? Bringing me way back, fella!
Killer Rob!!
Smooth operator!!👌💯🔥
Thanks Rob! I get a lot out of your channel. It has also inspired me to create a channel for beginners.
Thanks Rob! Awesome lesson. And I know you know. But that snare rocks!
I've been wanting to start practicing Higher Ground by the great Stevie Wonder. That first shuffle can incorporate nicely. Thank you for being socially conscious and dispensing some great ideas.
“dead simple, man.” - my kinda drumming! Thanks Rob.
Very cool
thanks beat down bobby i loved
how you slowed it down to show us the pattern. i am gonna call it
bobby b's shuffle !
Like it. Like your channel. Like your attitude. Play on.
I like this 🔥👏🏼👍
What I love about your content is that it is very accessible and useful. I wanted to dedicade the year to shuffles anyway.. 'cause I SUUUUCK at 'em.
Good One!
Cool man
love it //
Good job brother
Perfect ghost notes 👻
So cool. I think I heard something close, but not exact, on Billy Joel's concept album on Big man on mulberry street track.
You are so cool with it though. You just flow.
Great vid-yo. Thank you! Reminds me of the shuffle in Michael Jackson's "The way you make me feel"
These are great videos and I'll be forever in your debt for turning me onto that liveBPM app. I put it on an old cellphone and velcroed it to my wall.
Do you have a way of categorizing all the different shuffles?
Nice.
make it look so easy and so relaxed which is the key to what we're doing. Even though I watch your tips. I have tried placing a towel like a suggested for my left hand. I cannot make it relax it tightens up.
I heard this shuffle the first time about 40 years ago. It was played by Jan Fride, drummer of iconic german fusion band KRAAN.
sweet!
I got some vibes from the Prince song " it's about that walk" although that is a bit more syncopated on the HH than this one. Cool shuffle Beatdown 👍👍👍😀
Reminds me a little of Freeway Jam.
Groovin
I agree with Terr Cain Tears For Fears, "Everybody Wants To Rule The World"... Nice breakdown Rob easy to understand and execute as always...🤘🤩🤘
Rob, top man 😎👍🎶
I like the fact that you're all about feel and groove. So many, too much actually, are Thomas Lang-ing the shit out of you within the first 2 minutes of watching.
Which is very impressive ofcourse, but tiring after 10 times :)
Nice. I must say this is a lot easier and more fun to play than the hi-hat shuffle groove you showed in the 6 important shuffles lesson. Stil trying to get that to sit right, although i dont really practice it much, probably coz it always feels a bit forced when i do it. It annoys me because it's got a cool bounce that requires a lot of control
You are so fine. Thank you for the level to achieve.
You rock Rob!
Thanks. You look a lot like Dave Grohl 😏
Rob Brown - ha! I get that a lot hence the avatar! 😉
love your lessons been watching for a long time, great execution ,is there any reason you never show or provide the notation to some of your grooves, it would be extremely helpful to have to go back and practice without doesn't seem that hard to provident would add a great addition to your lessons,im sure many others would benefit, thanks keep up the amazing work
hi rob i would like to see side by side comparison between yamaha phx snare and the A&F snare if you can cheers
Do you think you could do a series on how to optimize playing with just the Hi hat, Kick Drum, and Snare, no rolls, ride, or crashing? Or upload some videos showing the best grooves using just those three?
Nice! Stevie Wounder Higher Ground .
That last one sounded Bonham(ish).
Coolest instructor on UA-cam
Jeff porcaro plays a shuffle variation on his video based on Marvin Gaye song Troubled man! similar to this but a tad slower!
Unique super
l am going to get tested today for the virus, i will be trying this out when i get back, cheers Rob. stay safe.
Fingers crossed, man 🤞🏽
@ Rob Brown,
Not sure if this is appropriate here, but I was watching a video of Leo Sayer (yes, white, disco),
but could you please give us a run-down on how this pattern works on "You make me feel like dancing", with the hi-hat and the toms?
Check out the half time shuffle on Fool in the rain by led zeppelin! You probably know it anyway! Also Jeff porcaro and Bernard purdie shuffle!
Hey, is this the groove from Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground?" Love it!
Have you checked music from Cameroon or Mauritius Island? You will love their 6/8s I think
Thanks for all your excellent content, it helps a whole lot!
That beat you're playing at 7:26 is very similar to an old James Brown song from the early 60's(?) BEFORE he got all funky, whose name escapes me! I could NOT figure out the high hat pattern to save my life for the longest time, but, what you're doing is VERY similar. If I could just remember the name of that damn song!
