Directions: You’ll take a left off of 276 (after Sliding Rock) onto a gravel road called Headwaters Road and drive about 1.6 miles to find the trailhead. Parking is pretty limited (don’t block the gate) and you can’t miss this big wooden sign.
Alltrails says the trail is about 2.5 miles but my fitbit said we racked up more like 3.5 when it was all said and done. It’s “moderately trafficked” but we went on a Sunday morning in November and only saw 5 other people on the trail the whole time we were there for 2-3 hours.
Two of the falls are easy to access and find while leisurely walking along an old gravel logging road. The other two are a steep climb up and into the woods. So you can choose whether you want an easy hike with two waterfalls or a more strenuous one with four waterfalls.
It was chilly to start but the trail gets a lot of sun and gains elevation so we warmed up a lot along the way.
⚠️ I definitely recommend and will be bringing my trekking poles next time!
The first waterfall is Discovery Falls. Take a left into the woods right before the first bridge. The trail is not well marked but relatively easy to follow up to the falls. There are some soggy spots and downed trees from storm damage this year. It’s about 0.3 miles to the falls and totally worth the effort. Head back down the way you came back to the road and take a left to cross the bridge.
You’ll keep hiking up and encounter Log Hollow Falls at the second bridge. Cross the bridge and there is a little path that leads you closer to the falls. In warmer months, I would take off my shoes and wade around the bottom here.
To reach the third waterfall - Upper Log Hollow Falls - hike a few hundred feet up to the left of the water. This is the steepest and most challenging part of the hike. Totally worth it to get to the upper falls, where I found what I’m assuming was an urn full of someone’s ashes? Trekking poles would have been super handy and made it easier to explore this area. I may or may not have slipped and slid back down on my butt for a few seconds on the way back down.
Return to the road and take a left to keep hiking about half a mile. The road seems to fork at one point but just stay to the left and you’ll reach the 4th waterfall called Logging Road Falls. It falls to the right and underneath the road.
