Subdividing and Sight Reading SIMPLE

Subdividing is playing big while thinking small. When you subdivide what you are playing, you know EXACTLY where you are and when to play. Rhythm is not a guessing game, so this skill helps us get it right.
Sightreading Rhythms you subdivide, but we put words to the notes. I use what is called modified French time names because it makes the most sense to me, but there are other systems. Find whatever works for you.
The rule is sing the rhythm BEFORE you play. Over time, rhythms will become natural so it's not in active memory while playing, but you will still subdivide.
