I've only recently started watching your videos and obviously you go onto to say what happened to your dad.. as a surgical trainee can I just say that you are such inspiration. You give it your all to your work and your patients and though I don't know you personally, with my experience of junior doctors, I think you will be an asset to a crumbling NHS. Your dad will be so proud. I hope you keep at it and remember to take a break. I've seen the video you've dedicated to your dad... you've got excellent genetics to make you a wonderful doctor. Keep at it, you've got this! xx
sending you all the hugs in the world 💙 psychiatry is a particularly tough placement to be on when other life stuff is going on, so the fact that you still got through things regardless is proof of just how strong you are x
The day after my mother died I went to work. The day of her funeral (during the height of Covid, the funeral happening across the country from me) I zoomed in to watch the service on one laptop while still working on my work laptop. We do what we have to and what feels right in the moment. Don't feel guilty at all about going out with your dog and siblings. It was a release of stress, a distraction from what was essentially impending doom, and time to bond with your siblings.
I'm so sorry to hear about your father passing. I feel like I was meant to watch this video today because this is the first video I have watched on your channel. I'm going through something similar with my dad and the doctors have also told us that they don't know what's wrong with him and his health keeps declining. It's so hard to focus on school, especially since I go to school far away from him so I wouldn't be able to get back in time if he were to pass away suddenly. I know it's a really sad and difficult time for you at the moment, so please feel free to reach out if you need someone to talk to.
Felt for you fighting back the tears of anticipatory grief. Was good the way the placement of the placement worked for you, so that you could continue your 4th year. How long is the placement? If you're still there now your room will be a lot cooler! Sad about the Waterstones. We so need our high street bookshops.
