- RimX versus Anschutz 54 .22 Rifles . The Anschutz is a single shot from 1976 and the RimX is a new rifle build by Desert Precision Gunworks in Arizona . RWS , SK , and ELEY ammo featured in the 50 yard shooting . I can’t say enough about both of these rifles , The Rim-X is a Repeater that is very ammo forgiving. The Anschutz is a lot more ammo picky . Rim-X has the better barrel , Anschutz has the better trigger and beautiful walnut stock .

I would go for the old Anschutz every day with those results. Saved me a lot of money and i don't have to look att that ugly green skeleton, but that is matter of taste. Great vid. mate 👍

They aren't really comperable - one is magazine fed, one is single shot.
Only Cyclops can make you laugh your ass off in a comparison video.
Something about that Anschutz that would make me choose it every time!
The Schutz is a result of 100's of years of combined research and knowledge amongst the most brilliant gunmakers of rimfire. They know what will and will not work and put the best of production into the rifles to build a half affordable rifle for the public. Just something about holding a wood stock and knowing that the system is tried and true. Good video Joe. The 54 series of rifles are very affordable used and are in my opinion the greatest buy in rimfire accuracy.
Recently found this channel. Love your take it or leave it attitude. Realized I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for this guy.

Good video Joe, there’s not much out there that will shoot with your Rim-X, Kenny told me that your rifle is probably in the top five out of all his Rim-X builds. Kenny built my Rim-X as a bench rifle and it out shoots my skills every time. Gotta give the Anshutz it’s dues, it’s been shooting those type of groups a long time before Vudoo and Rim-X came along.
Yeah the Rim X is spooky . I need a BR rest and see what it will do . Kenny will be building my next rifle also
I’m not sure you can outdo the one you have but the one he built me, 25 1/2” MullerWorks in the same chassis as yours with the Triggertech Diamond two stage and I just added the Sightron SIII Long Range 10x50x60, it sure is a shooter

Both rifles shoot great. But I'll take the walnut and steel classic Anschutz every time. It has soul that the modern rifles will never have. 😜

Those flyers, were no fault of the Ann Shoots.
Not saying they are Joes either. Likely a bad round, since Ol Joe is one damn consistent shootsman.
But the final group on the Ann Shoots, proved the rifle’s capabilities.
The Rim Job X is one of the finest out there, & we all know what they can do.
That rifle just didn’t happen to get 2 shit rounds like the Ann Shoots.
Ann builds one hell of a damn fine rifle.

When I bought my first brick of R50 and R100 they told me, the R100 was for cold weather shooting and that’s why it is hotter. It sounded reasonable.

Most of that was technique. He kept breaking weld because he was keeping his ammo on the left and not keeping his face on the rifle. The Anschuz is capable of the bipod as well, he just didn’t fit it.

I see 5 months ago in the Best Group video whilst shooting the Rimex , you do not lift your stock of the rest as much as you do in your latest video.

The Anschutz will get better results every time Joe if you get a consistent stock weld. The problem is unless the stock weld is Princess and the Pea prefect from shot to shot inconsistent recoil resistance will prevent shots from going to point of aim. Nevertheless you are still doing nicely with it all.

Have you thought about using a lead sled with 50 lbs of weight to help save your shoulder from the punishing recoil? That recoil is going to wreck you in time.

Not really in for single shot guns. It does shoot good though!
It’s clear this was not an apple to apple comparison. The Anschutz you used is a light competition model and was not designed to shoot at the highest levels. Use a bull barrel Anschutz like the rim-X to see the maximum potential of the gun. Also, Anschutz chamber is designed for RWS -50 and -100 (German gun with German ammo) and usually shoots best with that ammo, use that! If you want to vary the ammo to see which gun shoots best on avg with different ammo, Anschutz is not it and rifle with slightly larger chamber will do better. Bottom line use the right ammo with the Anschutz and its lights out! More Anschutz is used at the Olympics than all other brands combined!!! THAT SAY SOMETHING.
I think you could probably outshoot me, and i think the rifles are more accurate than mine, but most of all that rimx is just fugly. I would have edited in a marlin 60 with a busted stock before i would have been seen with that. Give us a little warning next time you decide to shame us with an artificial limb chassis gun. Keep up the good work

Both rifles shoot. However if you are shooting NRA/CMP prone or position shooting those matches are shot single load ONLY. Then the clear choice is Anschutz. If you’re doing PRS stuff you need a magazine fed action. That would be the Rim X .
And if you come to my house don’t bring beer with fruit in it. Hops belongs in beer not fruit.

Joe, if the Rem100 was a hotter round, and it shot left 1/2" compared to the Rem50 .... should you rotate your barrel 45 degrees clockwise?
This is an honest question. i.e. don't you want the hotter round to shoot higher than the slower round?

i shoot Anschutz 54 peep & scoped sight rifles , also a Turbo action & a Bergara B14R in Competition using Eley Match, Tenex, Lapua Midas etc
I notice although you are now using a Protector rear bag rest I believe you are not using the rear rest correctly.
When you shoot you are actually lifting your stock off the rear rest & putting it up to your shoulder, This effectively negates your rear bag rest & will affect yor groups..
Instead of lifting the stock off the rear rest, keep the stock on the rest & use the rest to stabilise your rifle, thats what its intended for.
Your videos are excellent & I thoroughly enjoy your many tips.
Your groups with the Anschutz & Rim-x are excellent, what is your best group to date ?. I have shot .11" with my Turbo using Tenex..

This was awful. I would put my old 64 spotter up against either one of those. You can’t shoot. Anschutz still holds all the world records. More than any other rifle maker. You won’t see that freaky stocked gun in the Olympics. Also, you picked the lesser of the accurate ammo’s when you moved to the Anschutz. Above some Tenex or R- 50 down that bore. Match??? Long range match??? No. You are doing this on purpose. So it right or just stop. Those of us who are older than you know better. That Anschutz BR gun should be shooting groups half the size of that other rife. You can’t shoot and you keeping changing ammos. It takes about a box of 50 to properly lube a bore. Not just two shots. Then shoot one group. Naw, this was a total waste of my time.
