What always impresses me in these videos of rugby cards is the complete professionalism of the refs. Neutral tone, quick but direct explanation of the offense, the resulting card, and get on with play. Lovely :)
vagabond142 Agreed. Part of that I think is down to the fact the players don't argue with the officials, and also the referees know they aren't just explaining the decision to the players, but to the supporters in the stands and the viewers at home.
And to the captains, as they have a much bigger role in rugby
It also helps that the head ref is seeing the replays on a screen everyone sees, including the ones getting the cards. It's a good system.
@@Subangelis bit of a long time since this comment but in case anyone who doesn’t know rugby is watching this the ‘head’ ref is the one on the pitch handing out the cards. He’s assisted by two touch judges or assistant referees on the sidelines with flags (and sometimes radio mikes). The voice we can hear is the TMO (or television match official). They can guide the ref as to things they’ve seen and answer questions put to them by the referee but the final decision always lies with the man on the pitch.
@@mobilefiscus - I do know that. Perhaps you misunderstood me. I was saying the offenders can see what they did wrong. It's hard to argue against it.
I know nothing about this sport, but I've been jumping around youtube for a while now. Really fascinating to be able to hear exactly what the referee is saying, like it very much!
I know I’m not the only one to notice, but refs advertising specsavers is genius!
I like how you can here what's going on and how the ref can ask for camera angles, very professional and leads to fair play. I like it tbh
correct decision
I love how Copeland immediately shits himself when he realises Williams is getting up for some payback
good reffin'
No complaints, good reffin that
00:35 "Noooooo"
no complaint at ALL. hattipped for all the ruggers.
Fair call.
I always wonder why they always complain so much about the TMO in football, while it's working so well in rugby. One reason why I love rugby and dislike football.
Referee was spot on both had to go
I have to say, even though Copeland started this, in every game I've seen Liam Williams play he's done something a scumbag would do.
and ur a scumbag for calling williams one
Settle down Roger,good bitch
Williams started by deliberately slowing the ball in a ruck. That's what he got the 2nd yellow/red for. Copeland shouldn't have reacted that way but i didn't hear the ref call adv, so he missed it?
@@Cenotaur1 0:17 ref clearly calls advantage? unless you mean ref missed copeland's offence, which he did yes.
You mean like punching someone?
US fan here, anyone know on which US TV/cable channel one can access this league? Guinness Pro 14 was on ESPN+ but no longer. Thank you friends!!!
Killing the ball to force a turn over.. Now that's what you call a ruck lol
Liam doesn't take shit, good lad.
only question would be about the advantage rule
Why the fucking fuck is this isn't standard across all sports? As a european this is why I can't football seriously
Beautiful can he go ref every game with Farrel or is he to precoius 😕
Do you mean Shoulder Boy?
how was willaims penalised for slowing the ball down when he was on his feet the whole time. i can understand card for getting revenge but the ref said slowing the ball down
both his elbows were on the ground before he get a boot to the head. Ref had already given penalty advantage.
0:52 How could you not see that? No way he was on his feet.
Was clearly not supporting his body weight
every time i see this i just cant understand the stupidity of stamping on his head, he had already got himself sent off why would you go and ruin it?
Red 15 also threw a punch.
Liam Williams shouldn't have been red carded because if you had someone stamp on your head I'm sure you would react.
he was given a second yellow for cynically slowing the ball down not for his reaction and to be fair this is probably the best thing copeland has done so far in his career its just a pity that nobhead williams didnt get some more of it
fuck of williams is a g
Retaliation is regarded as a no no whatever the provocation. You'd have to be a saint not to react to someone stamping on your head though.
The ref did well
can anyone explain why the red guy gets a 2nd yellow card? i dont know the rugby rules
+Holbeinisscheisse The red guy had already had a yellow card; his second offence was a yellow card offence, so two yellows equals a red card. If he hadn't had the earlier yellow card my guess is he would have just got a yellow. I'm no expert on rugby rules so I'm having a guess.
Geoff Poole i understand but what was his offence?
I think his offence was deliberately slowing down play.
+Holbeinisscheisse He stayed on the blue side and made no attempt to roll away and slowed down the play in the 22 it's rugby's equivalent to a professional foul
+Holbeinisscheisse when a player is tackled you must come from behind to play the ball, Liam Williams (the 15 red player) came in at the horizontal so isn't allowed to play the ball yet does. The sanction for that action is a yellow card in that circumstance. He had a yellow card prior to that offence so is given a red card.
Liam did good.
Double The Card Its WORSE
Boot to the head is fucking disgraceful.
He's my uncle
Wouldn't have been a mark anyway, as the red catcher was off the ground.
you can mark in the air now, rule change
And whilst moving
@@rodneylowe9526 @John Garvey More's the pity - they need to get rid of the mark.
@@Loosehead i disagree, it would incentivise more garryowens in the 22 like in league.
you wont see Lebron doing this but he cry over a cramp.
Rugby needs a worldwide club tournament of 40 teams, 8 pools of 5 teams, each team plays the other in their own pool home and away, then the top two teams in each pool advances to the play offs.
A worldwide club tournament with regional qualification is the only way that Rugby can stay relevant...
Piss off with that mercenary bullshit, make a world table every year with finals and relegation for the CURRENT 10-15 international games all national teams have every year. Rugby is one of the few sports with a manageable number of nations, plan into the strengths of the game.
People saying that Liam Williams shouldn't have reacted think, if you were on the street and someone came up and punched you for no reason, your saying you wouldn't hit them back?
Liam williams is my friends uncle tiyler davis in my school class
Harsh red
Eye gouging acceptable. Punches acceptable. A little stamp. Not acceptable. Rugby has it all wrong.
Stephen Freestone none of those things are acceptable. Where have you got all this from?
All of those are red card offences
We need more vicious players in the Welsh team... We are so soft when we play the big boys... A few more digs and a stinking attitude will get us where we need to be.!
and the award for the most retarded comment on youtube goes to bombcollective the twat.
So by your logic do you think we should start finding out who in ISIS has a welsh grandparent and get them into the side
Nah, you don't. I'm from the future, and you guys bossed your Autumn Internationals in 2018 with nothing like that sort of shite. Leave that to South Africa, mate.
