As a Tigrayan/ Ethiopian, I just have to say you did such a nice job 😍 I grew up watching my mom do hair and she loved doing this style of braiding. Also thank you for giving credit where it’s due. Most people see this style and don’t know where it comes from. Very well done 👍🏽
@S R Here are my thoughts on this. I have had to debate many times with different habeshas about this very topic and it is exhausting. I will not go back and forth. I am half Wilkayit and half Tigrayan. I will not claim one or the other. I claim both. I also have Amhara in my family. My heart breaks for the people of Tigray. They are strong, powerful people who have so much pride in who they are as they should. My dad (God rest his soul) is full blooded Tigrayan and that same blood runs through my veins. It’s very understandable if Tigray no longer want to be part of Ethiopia because it has not been safe for them for a very long time now. They have no choice but to feel it is best to separate from Ethiopia but Ethiopia knows how much they need Tigray since so much of Tigrayan history and culture makes up a majority of Ethiopia. It is selfish to keep them there when it is no longer safe. I do not blame this on the people of Ethiopia, I blame this on the very leaders who care more about power and control then their very people. It is so unfortunate that there is an entire genocide and ethnic war between everyone within Ethiopia with Tigray being a target. I no longer care where or how it started, I want it to end. I don’t want to have to turn on the news and here anymore killings of any people within Ethiopia because I am more focused on the humanitarian aspect of it all then the politics. I will continue to claim Tigrayan as well as Ethiopian because that’s who I’ve always been. What am I supposed to tell my young nieces and nephews who are Amhara? That moving forward I see myself differently from them because power hungry people (leaders) have caused so much division amongst the people? I’m not doing that! All I want is for the war/ genocide to end. I don’t know when that will happen but I will not get caught up in the political alliances that have formed due to this. If we are not physically there to do something about it then I don’t see the use in debating. What differences can we make as a people? How do we put end to the violence, and senseless killings? Because again it is not about tribes and ethnicities, it’s about human life! As much as I take pride in where I’m from whether you agree or not… I will not add more fuel to the fire. It serves no one! There are innocent people who are caught up in the crossfire of all of this! Dying for nothing. So this is not between the people, this is an ego driven power hungry leader/ leaders who cares nothing about the people that is behind all of this. So I will not hate my fellow brothers and sisters. Do you know an African American woman on this app said why should she believe that Ethiopians even like or care for black people when they don’t even like or care for each other with this entire war/ genocide going on. I don’t even know how to answer that. It’s sad!
@@RiriLove88 Your response moved me. This was more than a hair video. It was a history lesson for me that I can't ignore and feel I was meant to read. I am saddened to hear what is going on Ethiopia and the horrific acts that are taking place among the tribes because of Evil and powerful men. I would love to reach out to you and discuss this some some. I have been to West Africa and learned so much while I was there for two months. There is still so much to learn as African Americans and I hope for us to come together but I fear it will never happen completely until the Lord brings His peace. Until then never stop denying ALL of who you are and may we all dobour partt to help and heal those briken from violence and War. Praying for 🇪🇹 ❤❤
Very beautiful braiding! Fish ones were big in the US in the 90’s had no idea it was Ethiopian /Tigray hairstyle so I also enjoyed learning that bit of history as well! Ethiopians never fail to amaze me when it comes to the detail of their braids! The skill level, patience, and creativity are all top tier.
I dont wear braids, but I absolutely love them. I think it's one of the cutest and most versatile hairstyles a woman can wear. This specific style of braiding I've never seen on anyone. And it really looks amazing!! Nice job to the braider! It's a special talent!!
A “hairline” is a blessing; Wow! I guess it’s true that with ALL things; the thing one person may have, someone else is wishing they had. I knew that to be true when speaking about monumental things. But it’s apparently true for not-so-monumental things as well? A hairline? Just wow!
I love the style...I used to do my mannequins hair like that in 1995 when i was in beauty school...I was to scared to do it on a person's hair cause it was so different and I was in W.VA at the time ...the only difference is I did not have a braid in the middle of the 2 outside braid...wow I guess everything does come back better and better
These are really nice and creative I never saw no one do hair like this have you ever done these types of braids and left it out to almost look like crochet braids leaving some hair out like you did these braids I would really like to see you do that for people who do crochet braids using your technique would be an raid hack thanks
Where can i get a tutorial on the over hand grab method , also the over handed pick up & drop method. You can do very short hair this way. This ladies hands has been touched by God. She is the very best that ive seen. Amazing ❤
Do you know how much stuff you can hide between the hair let alone the time it takes to take it down I think I'll leave that if I have my hair done like that it'd be a forever😂😂😉☺⭐
Yes in Tigray the area this style originated from its mostly done on natural hair and the back is normally left out unbraided (which I think is helpful for when it’s time to take it down). This style takes about 2.5 to 3 hours depending on how fast the stylist is.
Oh my god this is very beautiful and uniquely done, girl! You are doing an excellent job, I never see this kind of braids, may I know where you located please , I really love this💕💕💕💕💕💕
Good Morning. You did an amazing job are these considered tree braids, how long does it take to install them, how much does it cost, what type of hair did you use and how many packs?
As AA this is the 1st time I've seen this style of braiding. Very beautiful! 🙂🙂👍👍 Have to be very careful braiding the edges so that she doesn't end up with a receding hairline.

The blessing of having your hairline; you can get any hairstyle! You have Gifted hands. I'm wondering how long that took! It was worth whatever time.
