I believe the general idea behind the PS2 menu glitch is that it allows you to break out of the boundaries of the normal game memory that tracks character inventories & treat unrelated memory values like they were item data. One of those memory values that's glitched into is the one for Rolf's name, and it has to be set to ABWX in order to create all of the needed key items & transfer them to a real character's inventory (since different names would result in different items).

I have no idea why the algorithm *just now* recommended me this video, but that ruled!
This is one of my favorite games growing up and it's so fun to see how the glitch works and how it's done. Thank you!
Awesome run of an amazing game. RIP Rieko Kodama.
Pull items out of the NEIther
Clever!
Excellent commentary. Thank you :)
YEAHH love this game, thanks for the run bich!
6:04 does the game want to replay that tunnel sequence because you got another teim in your inventory?
that is correct
Why don't they ever explain how naming Rolf as "ABWX" causes these glitches to happen?

Did he say he was going to do it glitchless and then immediately start exploiting a bunch of glitches? Am I missing something here?
