The URGE to just pick up the fucking ball and walk off the course is a difficult one to to resist when this happens. If you play this wretched game? You've been there. As Arnold Palmer was famously quoted aa saying after winning the 1960 U.S. Open: 'Golf is hard'. Arnold was right.

Actually, the applause was for her restraint: no tantrums, no thrown clubs, doesn't beat her caddy with a 6 iron, doesn't cheat, And FINISHES the hole. I'd applaud that.

@@AntonVanDerSar yeah, the 2 ways that I the guys I golf with react to disaster are either cursing or making fun of yourself. When I curse, I want them to ignore me. When I make fun of my plight, I want them to smile and/or laugh.

That’s why you can’t get too cute with a shot that you need to hit over a hazard. Just hit it, get it over, then deal with whatever putt. She was trying to hole it on her first shot over the water, to save bogey, because God forbid she get double bogey! And then look how it all ended up.
