I think I have one of these lined up finally. And the interior kit too. This was one as a 14-15 year old I always looked in the Tower catalog and wished I could afford. Now at 40... Gonna watch the whole series. Lot of good little kit building things I've forgotten since I last built a kit.
Will definitely be following this build. Have same kit been sitting on for 25+yrs. are you going gas or electric. I’ll be doing mine electric. Glass v Monocote, isn’t glass way heavier? This aircraft as scale rc tend to run heavy relative to wing loading?
I will be powering with a Saito FG21 4 Stroke gas engine. Yes glass will be heavier than monokote. However the scale potential with glassing is that I could add rivets and panel lines.
@@BayonasRCWorld Wow! Panel lines and rivets. Is it possible to seal the balsa with filler and then paint? Or even do a thin polyester resin hot coat only, then sand that down super smooth and paint without the glass.
@@sorenwolff4954 I have never done fiberglass on an entire airframe. For over 35 years I have used monokote covering on all my builds. I have used fiberglass as a reinforcements on certain areas only. I know how to glass a RC plane just never done a full airframe.
@@BayonasRCWorld I have no doubt you know how to glass it’s evident in your outstanding work. I’m super new to building and flying RC aircraft but have been wanting to do it for my entire life. Hence having the same kit I’ve been sitting on for 20+ years. I will certainly be following your build!
@@sorenwolff4954 well welcome to the RC hobby and the world of building and flight. It is awesome the feeling before, during and after a build and more once your creation is airborne.
You can sometimes find it on ebay however your best bet finding a kit would be in the Top Flite Facebook group or RC airplane building groups. Just ask and if someone has a kit that is willing to sell it then there ya go.
If your referring to the Top Flite Cessna 182 ARF. The ARF is lighter compared to the kit. On the ARF you have fiberglass control surface's and wing tips. As to the kit all built up balsa and ply.

Nice..I used to built it in year 2006 but it was not success. I think I’ll do it again when I have a chance..
As a long-time balsa basher, watching this is like therapy for me.
Same here! I could watch others build and If I were right there as well in the moment. Relaxing for sure.

Although, there are times when I'm thinking to myself, "Why are you doing it that way?" Present company excepted, of course.

Thank you!
