If this is truly a Lost Master(s) arc, plural, then I think Riku may be "lost" in the dream version of Quadratum, looking for Sora. Not only would this (and many other hints we've had) make Dream Drop Distance a much more important to the story, but it would also call back Riku's journey to unlock the Power of Awakening, as well as make a great parallel to how Sora spent so much time looking for Riku in the Dark Seeker arc. And with so many hints at how Dream Drop Distance connects to the other games, even Union X, I have high hopes that the TWEWY characters will be seen again in KH4. It would actually be pretty cool to see Unreal Engine 5 versions of the stylish cartoon characters TWEWY fans came to adore, let alone see them interact with Sora again. After all, their hearts would naturally be drawn to each other after they've interacted the way they have. And even if they're tossed in as sidequest givers, they'd be a perfect fit as Sora explores this new Shibuya-esque world.
Quadradum isn't asleep tho, it's completely removed from light and darkness. It should be the real version of the world

I heard some comments here and there that speculate that Riku may die in Kh4. While I, myself, don't know how I would feel about that, I do know Riku's fans will be in tears and in a pit of depression.
Id trade Riku for Yozora any day of the week. His story in KH is complete. Theres nothing else for Riku to do narrative-wise unless he becomes Yozora(if yozora isnt his own character)

I don't think Nomura would kill off one of the three main originals seeing as how almost no one ever truly dies in KH (except maybe Xehanort and Eraqus but Nomura has said that there are future possibilities to still be had with Xehanort).
There are so many possibilities for Riku in KH4. If we look back, Riku has always had the darker, more mature and emotionally gripping narratives in the series. Given the nature of Quadratum, especially with the plot beats mentioned on the back of the box (Karma, people's hearts, WEAPONS), he's definitely going to be entangled in that aspect of the story. Sora will more so be about introducing us to the concepts, exploring Strelitzia and the missing links, and giving us a sense of wonder for the new arc. Then we've got Kairi in the Realm of Light, training so she can help and no doubt searching for some clues on their side of reality. The concept of multiple visits in conjunction with bigger worlds to explore, opens up possibilities.
One part of me wonders if Riku's story is saved as DLC to bridge into Quadratum. Since he might have too much to simply be a "second visit" type storyline. The other part of me, given the Disney Worlds and Kairi? The DLC might allow for the second visits to be played by all the Guardians.

While I agree that Riku shouldn't die (I'm one of those Riku fans; hi!) I DO think something traumatic/irreversible/dark should happen to him to really set the stakes and tone of the series going foward. Then focus on Riku and the surrounding cast digesting said experience.
Example: have Riku come into contact with one of the 7 Deadly Darknesses and try to save the Foretellers (remember, Ava's not around so the MoM needs a new vessel; Riku would be a perfect candidate in his eyes). Upon contacting such immense Darkness, Riku should be S H O O K .I'm talking "breaking into a cold sweat, heart-pounding, almost paralyzed" levels of shook. If the 7 Darknesses are even half as powerful as we think they are, prove that by showing a Keyblade master with Darkness-resistance becoming **genuinely terrified** of just one of them!! Losing to Yozora would also be extra icing on the cake (I always got the sense that he's kind of apathetic/ruthless).
I understand the argument of "KH is a Disney game and Disney wouldn't allow that, 'cause that's too dark" but I humbly and fully disagree. We all were emotionally scarred as kids at Mufasa's death, Beast was terrifying to a purposeful degree, Black Cauldron also is terrifying, and Runaway Brain is a Disney fever-dream/nightmare that I strangely appreciate - just becauseof how creepy/dark it is. Heck, even KH1 had very dark moments, sometimes literally (Destiny Islands was destroyed at night, Traverse Town is always set at night, the End of the World is as dark as can be.)
But that's just me! In the end, I just hope they don't make him like they did in KH3 - that was just....ehhh.
I can’t speak for everyone but I don’t think Riku is going to die because his story is heavily linked to Sora. It’s a bit of controversial topic but the video games, manga, and other content such as music heavily suggests Riku has romantic feelings for Sora, a really great video by @Tennelleflowers goes over this topic but my point is I don’t think Riku’s story will end until Sora’s does. Specifically because from KH1, to KH3 a lot of focus was split between Riku and Sora, at this point I don’t think Riku will die because Riku is the last person who believed in Sora before he disappeared and a lot of emphasis was put on the fact that at the end of KH3 remind Sora never mentions Riku. Sora does mention Kairi leading me to believe that abusing the power of waking took away Sora’s most precious memories, additionally a pretty good theory that’s been floating around is that the crown necklace sora wears is from Riku. This is because in Chain of memories replica riku and sora have a memory of the night the meteor shower took place, where they both met namine supposedly, both replica riku and sora think that they were comforting namine and there is a pretty good chance that this meteor shower is how Kairi got to destiny islands so that means the memory that both replica riku and sora have isn’t of Kairi but instead of Sora and Riku, and during this night Riku promised to keep Sora safe and gave him is iconic necklace. I think over time this memory would have faded, maybe even mostly forgotten and now when Sora saved the guardians of light in Remind his punishment was besides being sent to another world was to forget his memories of Riku. So from this I don’t think Riku’s journey can end until him and Sora meet again. At this point it looks like KH4 might be a role reversal for Sora and Riku, I think it would be it interesting if the narrative was focused on saving Sora but a lot of the gameplay was from Riku’s perspective, we could still play as sora but the story is about saving him.
Food for thought and a penny on the side. If Yozora is, potentially, Sora's counter part, for the 'other side', Unreality, wouldn't a counterpart for Riku also be plausible?
Riku was the Keyblade's initial chosen wielder, back in KH1, but Sora ultimately proves his worth and becomes chosen by it instead. Perhaps the opposite is true for Unreality, where Yozora gets initially chosen, but the Riku counterpart of that side is the worthy one.
...Merely some weird thoughts I've been having lately. Who knows if any of it is real, or not.

I doubt Riku will die, maybe a fake out death at most to scare Sora and lure him into a trap or something. I do wonder though if Luxu is looking for a new vessel and if Riku is a target for that though.
It’s also crazy to me how much Riku’s eye color has become way more dark green than the bright teal it used to be. Kinda odd that no one else seems to be talking about it
Okay, so I admit I hadn't watched the video yet, so you might touch on this, but there's one possibility that I thought of as a plot point in KH4:
The KH3 secret ending saw Riku in Quadratum, and Yozora looks a lot like Riku. So what if Riku's dream had him temporarily take the form of Yozora, but he looked like himself in his own perspective? I mean, it might not be the case, it could just be that he had a dream that let him briefly see Quadratum, but I think it'd be a neat twist on things if Riku could take control of Yozora for brief periods of time, maybe communicating with Sora during those periods.
Then again, Yozora did state he "doesn't actually look like this" in his boss fight, so maybe I'm just overthinking things.
I would be very surprised if Riku would in fact die. It just doesn't seem possible at the moment.
What if when yozora needed to save sora was that he was doing his versions mission to save sora the same way Riku was tryna save sora in his universe in KH2

Part of my theory on Yozora's true identity requires establishing Yozora's connection with RIku. I'm not going to type up my whole theory here (watch my video if you want to see it), but I'll recap the relevant part: Yozora has Riku's memories from Dream Drop Distance.
To establish Yozora's connection with Riku, we must first prove that Yozora has the power of Waking: In KH3 Young xehantort describes the power of waking as the ability to traverse hearts to reach worlds. This is consistent with the way we first see it used in Dream Drop Distance when Riku uses it to wake Sora. If you remember: Riku dives down onto Sora's station of awakening (his heart), then he is transported inside Sora's dream of destiny Islands (a world). Now let's analyze what Yozora does: He points his crossbow at Sora, then Sora's station of awakeing (his heart) appears from underneath them, then quadratum (a world) appears around them. It's exactly the same as when Riku used the power of waking in DDD. It's blatantly the same.
So why this is important (as far as Yozora's connection to Riku is concerned. It has other relevance, but not to Riku) is because Yozora using the power of waking means that we know where he is. He's in Sora's dream. And this provides extra context to what Yozora says next: "I accidently wandered into this place, and went through some trials. Then... I was told to save Sora". This is Riku's exact plot in DDD. Riku accidently wandered into Sora's dream; went through the mark of mastery, which Yen Sid directly compares to a trial; then Riku is told to wake Sora, which is basically the same as "Save Sora".
Yozora has Riku's memories.
No need to kill off a member of the Destiny Island Trio.
I do hope to see a Riku and Yozora encounter in KH4 and see if they will help each other or not. Thinking that Magia and Aegis will be with Riku then Yozora. I don't think KH will kill Riku then anyone I mean come on it's Riku. He's so popular and I know no one will really die or leave our hearts. :)
I think it is possible Riku could die, I think it is the ultimate show of his character growth that he sacrifices himself for Sora and Kairi. He doesn't strike me as the kind of character who would be content settling down with anyone. He wanted to leave the island more than the others and he seems like he is content making sure his friends get to live peacefully, even if he doesn't. The characters that start selfish and grow into the ultimate protector usually die by the time the story is over. Not saying that I want that to happen but I won't be surprised if it does.

I have a small theory but what if with every long term vessel Luxu takes, i.e. Xigbar/Braig, he albeit without need, absorbs a bit of their personality, like despite with the reveal in KH3, he still had Xigbaresque manurisms.

Could Quadratum be Kingdom Hearts itself since it seems like a place not touched by darkness but at the end of KH3 Xeanort literally infects kingdom hearts with darkness not saying the giant heart in the sky is Quadratum but rather a very large door. Infect the door and darkness will slip beyond it.

1. Both Masters Xehanort ( _ugh_ ... *yes* ) & Eraqus return. Along with Ansem the Wise.
2. The plot is to revive Master Eraqus with the help of Wise Ansem to properly do away with Xehanort. Xehanort reveals that he learned f*all & only says anything to achieve his own deluded ends. Eraqus is revealed to have been severely damaged by Terra as suggested by their fight. Yet... *_>not dead.man.< Which explains why Xehanort was so easily able to corrupt him to darkness.
C. Ventus is literally venting. Our youthful propensity to try to let out all of our pain, anger, & confusion.
D. Eraqus is the embodiment of spiritual belief. This is why he is >not dead.< Spiritual belief is not so easy to kill.
E. Ansem the Wise is the embodiment of scientific pursuit.
F. Xehanort is the embodiment of demagoguery & deceit. The basis for any true villain.
G. Riku is an ideal that might as well be unreachable. But we do our best to match this ideal anyway.
H. Sora is literally the player character trying to make sense of this seeming clusterf* of a story.
I. Kairi is literally our friends & family trying to make sense of it with us as they listen & watch along. Kairi is for all intents & purposes, meant to be "pointless" because she's the embodiment of our loved ones watching us play the game.
J. Yen Sid is Disney's self insert character. A literal *_god._* Put this way... Yen Sid is actually >extremely annoying.< I wonder if Disney is even aware of this. I get the sense... *_they are!_*
K. The Master of Masters is the story writer (Jun Akiyama; Daisuke Watanabe; Kazushige Nojima). An extremely intelligent person who reveals that the reason that the world's many religions fight all the time is because they have their heads up their own a****s. Refusing to listen to & learn from each other.

What I didn't like about KH3 Riku was he was declared a master officially in DDD yet in KH3 he's struggling getting bodied and its like wtf. I get Sora is the main character but he should have been putting work in too. The repliku stuff was not needed and I don't believe he had a single conversation with Kairi. Ugh, KH3 was such a clusterfuck. Less said about that game the better.
Nah, we should talk more about KH3 and how amazing it is. And while we're at it, let's have a discussion as to why this logic of yours is flawed.
Just because someone is highly skilled, doesn't mean they're undefeatable. With the Repliku stuff, it's more of a climax for Riku's arc since he finally mastered the darkness in his heart. But I'll agree with you that Riku and Kairi should have some time interacting.

@@TophDaGreat KH3 really weeded out the weak. It showed that those who didn't like it were basically kh2 stans that wanted KH3 to be a copy-paste of kh2. Now, I can understand that it disappointed some people and they decided to quietly leave the series because it's not for them anymore, but it really shows that KH3 really left one of the greatest marks because KH3 haters still won't let go of this game for four years and have been living in their heads rent-free.
@@Redxan600 No clue what you're talking about. I'm not a KH2 stan and thought the game in general wasn't very good in general. The hype, buzz and general interest in KH is not the same and never will be due to how polarizing and mid the game was. You can convince yourself however you want that the game was good for you but to dismiss its flaws and act like everything is sunshine and rainbows is straight up denial.
The pacing was awful. Most of the game was filler. Sora's fate was undeserved and a cliffhanger for the sake of it. Hardly any time to breathe. No post game to speak of. The DLC is good but mostly adds to the post game which is great but doesn't address the main game. The fact that mods have to add in stuff that should have been in the game says a lot.

And I'm not dismissing the flaws KH3 has unlike those kh2 fanboys. I acknowledge them, but I'm also deciding to give the game more praise than it deserves.
And I disagree with that. The pacing is leagues better and each world contributed to the whole plot and having Sora to grow as a character. And there is post game so to speak. You go back to the worlds to collect the secret reports. Find Lucky Emblems. Frankly, there are still more content in the base game. And the mods only adds the fun in the game. If you believe that mods fixed the game and believed that it should've been in the base game, then you're just delirious.
