Tadpole Breeding Tanks 2023

Our patio breeding tanks are used by our neighborhood's population of Cope's Gray Treefrog (Hyla chrysoscelis). The adults come from surrounding trees to lay their eggs in the tanks.
This summer, there are eight tanks and about 300 tadpoles in each tank.
The tiny frogs dispersed back into the surrounding neighborhood, with most being eaten by birds, insects, and snakes, which is typical for most species of frogs.
