Those pike can really be frustrating when you are trying for perch. One of my good fishing buds swears against running a camera or flasher when going after perch because of the "bad vibes" going down your line when you get a small hammerhandle pike guarding your lure for an eternity. Others set up a perimeter of jaw jackers around the tent to try and keep them from getting into the area being fished for perch. Thanks for the video- any day spent fishing beats another day at the office.. and the government won't expect you to give them half of your fish!
@@LetsFishAlberta Heya - I hear you - seen some nice numbers this year for perch but easy to end up with a bunch of little pickles on the ice. I have been driving further north this year, fish seem really health. If you can make it to the lakes up around Athabasca we are pulling 12-13 inchers out of there. Even the game warden was impressed as he counted them! Cross is particularly good this year but more and more folks are figuring it out so expect heavy traffic. Good Luck!
Fellow Albertan here this cold snap is suppose to let up soon. I luv under water video I have a big screen tv in my tent. I have had great luck using a single treble, light leader and small minnows (a little on the ripe) side laying on the bottom not moving, and jigging with my other line caught lots of walleye and whitefish that way too Good luck
Hey Matt, that was some great underwater footage. I had the same issue last weekend. Saw lots of decent pike but nothing we put in front of them worked. That's just how it goes sometimes...
It’s wild how they can be so aggressive one day, and then the next time they just sit there and annoy you 🤣
So true. Thanks for the comment
Great to see videos from my area. Subscribed.
Right back at you!

Yeah, in this case we were actually after the pike, the perch were to small to make for a worthwhile snack. They're still fun though

Thanks for the kind words. I think I’m going to try some perch jigging rattle bait next time, see if that will work.
Hey some nice camera work. Looks like ya had a good time anyways. Looks like ya drove on at RR 23. How thick was the ice now?
It's about 17 inches there
Hold it still when he’s closing in on it. Than a little twitch should get an instinctive reaction and strike.
Yeah, we had some more time with the camera this year and solved for that, video coming!
Went to sylvan lake recently caught nothing 😢
Try just a jig and worm and don't go to deep
Sorry to hear about that. I have those days also. But there is fish down there so don’t give up.
