@@adrians3267 Wang Liqin was very mechanic in his forehand when it comes to top spin rallies. But Ma Long's forehand is also the same but with more control and better loop.

Liu Guoliang once said, "Today, the player who has the best knowledge in the game is Ma Long.". It's so true! He is no doubt the Best table tennis players of all time. At the age of 30 years old, which is at the falling stage of a career, but Ma Long's game is so beautiful than ever. While Zhang Jike can't keep up with the new trend, Fan Zhendong, Lin Gaoyuan, Harimoto is on the rising stage. The Dragon shows how beautiful, table tennis, and table tennis tactics are. Some players just say "Oh, Ma Long is so strong. Because his forehand is so strong.". No! Not only his forehand but his variation, his service, match reading, his mentality, his chop block, his backhand control, is the best of the best. He is not the fastest. He is not the strongest. But he is the most intelligent player, right now.
I don't like that Adam Bobrow just calls him "dictator, dictator", just simply call him "Ma Long". And explain why he is the best. Calling him "dictator, dictator" all the time is boring. This Tokyo 2020 is his last Olympics, but for me, Ma Long's style and intelligence show the true beauty of this sport. Thank you, Ma Long.

Adam Bobrow didn’t make that nickname up. “The dictator” is his nickname like “the Captain” or like Fan Zhendong is called “Litty Fatty”. Or Liang Jingkun Wang Hao are called “Big Fatty”

LJK was the sternest test yet, but ML, GOAT of GOAT's he is, simply upped the level even further.
This was the first Superhero match. Two Chinese players at their max.

Ma in full flow. A beautiful, inhuman sight. The only athlete alive resembling perfection.
Adam did a great job analyzing this match and Ma.
I personally didn't feel like LJK was at his best. He did set Ma Long on fire though with the resistance he put up, which speaks for how good a player LJK is. But he himself did not look as confident as I have seen him be. Nothing was particularly wrong with him, just he wasn't on fire the way Ma Long was.

I am always astonished by Ma long's ability to stay cool, control his opponent and his immense forehand shots.
I wanted LJK to win so bad..but the thought of 3 straight WTTC champion excites me a lot.
Unless Mattias pimple and backhand his way to victory (with Pearson assisting), there is no one to stop the dragon from taking his 3 consecutive titles. Go Ma long!

@@ad0d bc the new ittf ranking is based on how active you are. it only counts the wins you have it doesn't count the losses you take so it basically just shows who's the most active player
That makes it 6 semifinals continuously and 3 finals continuously. 3 consecutive finals still counted as he made it to 3 consecutive semifinals.
If only Wang Hao is not in the same bracket with him, maybe 6 semi 6 final 😎

I was rooting for Liang, but Ma Long for all his hard work in table tennis deserves the title of the greatest of all time or at least in this modern era of table tennis. He has competed against great players like Ma Lin, Wang Liqin, Wang Hao, Zhang Jike, Xu Xin, and now the new generation of Lin Gaoyuan, Liang JingKun and Fan Zhendong, and has a positive record against all of them. China has so many talented and hard working players it makes me sad that just a few of them would become world champions.
After that South Korea and Japan impress me in their commitment in cultivating young talent. Europe seems to lack way behind in cultivating young talented players with only Sweden giving the chance to younger players... In the time that China changed 3 generations of players from Kong Linghui and Liu Guoliang to Zhang Jike in the European scene I see the same names of Timo Ball and Vladimir Samsonov at the top. It doesn't speak well for the future of european table tennis...

馬龍在2015年前真的不容易，雖然成績不錯，卻永遠把握不住大賽機會，在他面前總有王皓張繼科，他自己也一度承認想放棄想退役，覺得打球好沒意思，感覺現在的樊振東就有點像當年的馬龍，希望他也能像馬龍堅持下來。
如果馬龍當時放棄，也沒有現在像外掛一般的存在吧。
連續三次世錦賽輸給王皓 也沒有放棄 馬龍就是有這個決心

除了精湛的球技，馬龍更讓人佩服的是長久的堅持，這種堅韌值得讓人學習。

Massive luck for LJK with the edge ball at 11-10 but still couldn't take down ML. ML is looking even better than he was in WTTC 2017. He is almost as good as he was in WTTC 2015. If ML win 4-0 in the final tomorrow, that will be the most impressive performance at WTTC since the 11 points scoring system adapted.

ML in 2015 was also this impressive until the final and was only being challenged a little bit in the final by Fang Bo with some of the best rallies I've ever seen. If ML win the final easily like 4-0 or 4-1 then perhaps I would think his performance is better than in 2015.
It's hard to beat Ma Long when he's mastered 'Ultra Instinct' perfectly :)

ML had the toughest bracket.. But he bulldozed his way to the final.. He rekt all the powerhouses like LGY, LJK.. And he did it with authority.. For me he is the GOAT.. NOONE EVEN COMES CLOSE..
Ma Long is just tearing apart everyone, it’s ridiculous this level of gameplay, game tactics, power and mentality. No one can match this man.
On my point of view if it would theoretically happens Ma Long lose in the final for me HE is already Champion all the time. No one even close is standing with him. Long Live the King!

Although I agree with you that people should talk about only the match in the video and not other matches because it could potentially spoil the matches for others, I'd suggest you to login on ittf.com to follow the matches live because we can't really stop people from talking and they're not wrong either, because matches are uploaded here a long time after they actually take place so the results are already out hours before the UA-cam upload. I, too, got many spoilers like these after which I decided to just watch them live at ittf.com and the site's interface isn't that bad either. You'll enjoy watching matches there.

Such an amazing match. Liang Jingkun played up to his potential here: his backhand is truly superb. But Ma Long is so solid, and that famous forehand still can dominate. Liang can take heart from this match. He played without fear, with a lot of passion. Titles will come his way after the Olympics and Ma Long’s retirement.

Agreed, Ma Long just lost the previous set so he was feeling the pressure. He lead the whole time until LJK came back with some impressive points, but Ma Long prevailed in the end. This brought him more confidence to win the match definitely. if he lost that set, LJK probably wouldn't have been as nervous as he was in key moments.
The first set was crucial! Liang started 5-1 and then Ma Long won the set 11-8.

After 1-1, ma long changed so much placement ball include to bh baseline, fh on baseline, push on baseline of liang and of course quality touch in netting. That was not fan zhendong did it when he lost to liang

What a difference if we are comparing a pre-2013 Ma Long to the current Great Ma Long. The skills are pretty much the same or should I say the pre-2913 Ma Long had more power but the mental toughness is way off the chart in favor of today's Ma Long. He fed a lot of balls to the short right of Liang while so calm in long rallies. I just cannot disagree with Mr. Ma Long being the perfect and humble champion.

Ma Long actually has been using that shot for a while. I already saw him did that back in 2011.
Zhang Jike also did that shot a few times back in 2011 when he played Timo in WTTC and played ML in Austrian Open. You can find that in the highlights of those 2 matches.
That is Ma long has used that flip long time ago before even koki start playing it
