The musical has been running for 21 years, just because a couple of incidents has happened on stage the past TWENTY ONE YEARS doesn't mean something is cursed!
It's extremely obvious that the mindset of the wicked witch role being cursed was one fans thought only back in the immediate aftermath of Idina's injury and is not how they think today
Real bad curse there. This role is probably why she was cast for Frozen. I really hope that they at least asked her if she was interested in doing the Wicked movie.
I remember watching a video with Idina talking about the night that she got hurt and when she was in the ambulance the EMTs didn’t know what to do with the dress and she’s just in such pain that she said something like “just cut the thing off” and they were told that the dress was worth like thousands of dollars and to do anything they could to save it. But she just kept yelling “cut it off!” Lol If I was Idina I would of said the same thing, like “send me the bill, now get to cutting god damnit!!!” Lol But they eventually got it off her without having to cut it or anything. Idina actually showed up for her very last show though. She refused to miss her very last show so at the end she walked out on stage in no makeup and a tracksuit and sang For Good with Kristin.
and Kerry Ellis ALMOST fell from the lift in defying gravity, we have audio. Apparently she accidentally made it rise with her arm instead of her back, causing her to not be secured properly. Luckily she made sure to stop the play and didn't try to make the show go on... Knowing Idina, she probably would have took the risk, since she performed tired (almost to a breaking point) and sick a few times 💀
Also! Mila Kunis who played the Wicked Witch in the film “Oz, The Great and Powerful” had to undergo weeks of skin treatment because the green makeup she wore steeped into her pores and her skin looked green even after the film wrapped.
They had to stop the show for 45 minutes to rush Idina to the hospital. And Idina’s understudy, Shoshona Bean had to be rushed into make-up to finish the last 2 minutes of the show.
Stephanie j block also had an incident prior to the 1st nat tour opening, she was rehearsing the no good deed flying sequence (it was cut after this) and she was thrown into a wall repeatedly she had some kind of back injury. it all happened the night prior to the tour opening but I do think they pushed it back until she recovered
There’s actually videos of her talking about it, I recommend the one where she’s telling the story at one of her concerts. She makes it sound funny and serious
I think Myra Ruiz (our Brazilian Elphaba) didn't suffer any injuring while Wicked was in theaters here in Brazil, so she broke the Wicked Witch Curse hahahaha
Actually its like the Eizard of oz is cursed, there are several people that wanted to do the play, but they couldn't. I was in a company and we wanted to do the wizard of oz twice and for some reason we couldn't, and then in drama school they wanted to do it, but again, they couldn't because of Pandemic. So, yes, I think its cursed
Omg i swear it is cursed, when my school had done wizard of oz my friend who was playing the wicked witch fell down of the block she was standing one when the witch was melting😭😭😭
It wasn’t Margaret Hamilton, who got seriously burned. It was her stunt double that stood in for her because they couldn’t bear losing a main part of the cast.
Uh yea she does....it's done in the shadows with glinda watching. Literally toward the end of the show. It's how she made her escape....ya know cause everyone in Oz thought dorothy killed her.....have you not seen the show??

I don’t think the role is cursed it’s just a very challenging role when it comes to special effects.
