This brings back memories of my first sewing class. We also used paper templates! Now I am working on teaching kids to sew. 😊 It is a wonderful thing to pass on.
Wonderful ideas! I would have never thought to have them start without thread! Tell her she has a smart Mom not wanting her on UA-cam at a young age! She was amazing and brave. These sewing machines can be intimidating!
I really like what you said to Caitlin, "You don't mess up. You learn". I apologize if I misquoted you. Great job to both of you. I will be using this learning technique with my granddaughter. Thank you.
You are welcomed. Your granddaughter will love most the time spend with you and second the learning she will take and use her whole life. It will be a life long memory too which is wonderful.
Hi Caitlin!! Nice video. I'm showing my daughter how to sew. I never even thought about practice sheets. I just let her practice with old fabrics and thread. Nice!!
I am getting ready to teach a sewing class to local disadvantage adults. This video has given me some great ideas on how to evaluate these adults. Your granddaughter reminds me of my 5 yr old great granddaughter. So much personality. We will start her sewing next week when she visits. Thanks again.
I have changed the page twice because the blogs I used to find these pages have been taken down. If I can still find mine I’ll upload them and put a link up. I’ll keep you posted.
She really is funny and smart, towards the end of the video she turns things around and starts teaching the viewers she calls, “Just the Good Bits,” then at the end she shortens it to, “Bits.” So funny.

This is an excellent idea. I’m going to try this with my girls.
It works, Kaitlyn now has her own sewing machine.

What needle do you suggest for this?
The needle size or type doesn't matter even a dull one will work. Thanks for asking.
@@justthegoodbits1 okay, great, thank you!
