Elephant Calf Snare Removal

Recently, a young elephant calf was seen in front of a safari lodge in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve (Greater Kruger National Park) with a wire snare around its neck. The vet was alerted and thanks to the amazing donors to our Rapid Response Fund, we were able to immediately offer the funding needed for the operation.
Despite challenging high-temperature conditions and an understandably distressed herd, the snare removal was a huge success. Thankfully the snare had not yet broken the skin.

The increase in snaring incidents recently has been very worrying and quick response is essential to prevent sustained injury or death of the affected animal.

Very good job of removing snare from baby elephant. The man was also very quick to get the job done. He is the elephant's hero.

6 people whistling and yelling and waving arms ?
I guess 2 seconds of 300 Db sound would not make a good video
