    Nice showcase of steam switchers, I have a 1615 and a Dockside, that's it. I like that single dome tanker too. 💯

    Some pretty fast trains being run by these switchers 🤔 great video as ever thanks for sharing

    Some really cool little locomotives... so of that set which get the most run time?

      That’s a good question. Usually whichever is the newest. The k-line 0-6-0 is run a lot and now the k-Line 0-4-0

    Very nice. Those small, steam switchers, are pretty cool, for sure. That pre-war one is, I believe, one of the semi-scale engines that Lionel produced. They had a full scale version available, also, that was produced to go along with the 700E, as part of their scale line. The post-war version was basically a continuation of the semi-scale engine. Excellent engines, for sure. I could use one for my updated industrial area, on the layout. A great video, as always.

      Thanks. I know there were different size/scale pre war 0-6-0s but I don’t remember where the 0-4-0 originated. All my 0-4-0s have been the same size. Scale or not, they are fun

    So many switchers. I’m jealous that you have the postwar 1656 switcher Dave

      The 1656 with the bell ringer is a classic

    That’s a lot of switch engines Dave! Very cool. Most of mine are diesel Switchers. One dockside. Thanks for sharing! Chris, Cbtrainnut

      It is! Diesel switchers are great too.

    Sanitation workers in northern New Jersey were puzzled to find a huge model grain elevator curbside in a suburban neighborhood. Further investigation revealed a new three-rail switching layout in the homeowner's garage, but further details were not forthcoming.

    Nice collection, Dave, I would need to go through everything I have in storage to know how many I have for sure. I can only think of five off the top of my head. I have a couple of 040's, 2-080's, and the B6 you have of the 8977. The B6 switcher is from 89 so that would make it from the modern era or LTI when Richard Kughn owned Lionel. While it's touted to be a remake of the prewar switcher It's also touted to be the first engine produced with Railsounds. Railsounds wasn't introduced until after the MPC era.
    Love the double heading but the run session was cut too short. Mabey one day I'll see somebody run these back-to-back like diesels😊.

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  3 місяці тому

      Thanks. Yup the first with railsounds. It’s a great little engine.
      I’ll do some longer running soon

    Quite a collection of switchers, Dave. It's almost like you can't pass one up if it's in good shape (or at least seviceable) at good price. I agree with your liking K-Line. They made some awesome steam loco before the end. It's up to you what you a 'switcher' in your collection. Technically, I wouldn't call a Plymouth or a Porter the same as a steam loco yard switcher, but it all depends on how you use them. Thanks for this great review.

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  3 місяці тому

      Thanks. I don’t do any switching so to me an engine is an engine. I just like small engines!

  • @wayneantoniazzi2706
    @wayneantoniazzi2706 3 місяці тому

    Ten steam switchers? Wow. I don't have any, I guess I'd better get busy and get at least one token 0-4-0 or 0-6-0!
    That's an impressive collection Dave which I kind of suspect grew without your realizing it! 🤣
    Sure, I'd call that little Porter a switcher and by extension that Plymouth as well. In fact I'd say the proper designation should be "industrials" but since an industrial locomotive was a "maid-of-all-work" switching would have been one of the duties assigned so calling them switchers isn't really a stretch.
    Fun video! Thanks for posting!

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  3 місяці тому +1

      Yeah I didn’t realize. And I want more. You need at least a 0-4-0. They are just neat. It’s not like I have switching operations on my layout, so I don’t actually worry about designations. If I want to pull 15 cars with a 0-4-0, then that’s what I’ll do! lol.

    I think my favorite is the prewar with the bell. If I collected Lionel that would probably be on the list to find

    Dave suggest you check the axle bushings for the switcher wobble cause..if axle were bent you should see wheel damage…good luck Michael A

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  3 місяці тому

      Good point, I’m sure the bushings are probably worn too, I know that’s a problem with at least one of them

  • @robertmadison2752

    By the way, ask your viewers about "MPC Wobble," apparently related to off-center mounting rather than bent axles.

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  3 місяці тому

      Yeah I’ve read about a few different issues, bad bushings, out of round wheels, axles. I’ll reserve judgement for when I finally get one of these apart.
